Hi all, we have had a lost dog handed into us yesterday evening from the New Malden area.
He is microchipped but the contact number does not work. If you have lost your dog overnight please do reach out to us. On 02083996666 his currently at our Surbiton hospital.

MISSING CAT

On Saturday this beautiful male unneutered tabby cat was handed into Voo Vets Surbiton. Unfortunately there is no microchip so we can’t identify the owner.
The cat was found in the local area near to Elmbridge Avenue so if you have any information please contact us on 02083996666.

To all our clients,

You may have seen public information regarding rising cases of a disease in cats called pancytopenia. Voo Vets have been diagnosing and treating this spike of cases in the last few months.

Cats with pancytopenia get very sick due to a low level of platelets and white blood cells. Common signs include lethargy and loss of appetite, although in some cases there are signs of spontaneous bleeding or bruising.

It doesn’t appear to be treatable and recently there has been a product recall of several foods which may be linked to the cause, these include; AVA, Applaws and a Sainsbury’s range. Further details can be found here: https://www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/alert/fsa-prin-36-2021 .

From our vet and company director, here is some advice for cat owners regarding this outbreak;

1. Please don’t panic. If your cat is well then stop feeding the recalled diet immediately and monitor for signs of this illness. Remember it has not been definitively established that these diets are the cause.

2. If your cat is developing signs of this illness or your cat has eaten one of these foods and you are worried, please come to your nearest Voo clinic for us to perform an examination and haematology blood test (if we feel it is necessary). This is a quick and simple test to check levels of red and white blood cells and platelet count.

3. If your cat does show changes in haematology this does not confirm a diagnosis of pancytopenia. There are many treatable conditions that can cause these changes so we would proceed with further testing to rule out these conditions first.

4. All our team members have been briefed with the latest information regarding diagnosis and treatment of this condition. We will continue to update them with any new information or veterinary guidance that comes to light, so that we can be as effective as possible.

We had our first visit from The Peter Pan litter today ( from the Ginger Cat house rescue centre )for thier first vaccination Rhiannon our vet was in her element as you can see lots of cuddles.
days like this make it all worth while.
(the kittens have all been allocated to new homes and have met there new families )

We hope everyone has been enjoying the wonderful sunshine, summer is finally here!

Here are some photos of a gorgeous boy named Cosmo! He and his lovely owner come to see us regularly as he's on our Voo Headstart Plan - which means unlimited consultations until he is 6 months old. He also gets weighed every month when we dispense more flea and worming treatment.

He loves his visits as we always make a fuss but we're not sure who enjoys them more, us or him!

Mixa who is 10 weeks old came in last night for her first vaccine and health check. In just a week she has grown by 200grams 😍. Kittens grow at an astonishing rate at this age. She has joined our VIP health plan 'Voo Head Start'. Check out our website: welovevoo.com for more information.

Little Coconut the kitten came in to visit us in style in her very own stylish handbag. What a cute surprise! She is part of our VIP Voo Head Start plan which provides everything she needs in this critical first six months of her life. I'd say she will be too big for her handbag next month ☺

Indiana Jones came into for his routine health check under our Voo Head Start plan. He is a 4.5 month old Russian Blue X. Around this age cats start losing their baby teeth which are replaced by larger adult teeth. Indiana has some of his adult incisors already. Let see how many more he has at his next monthly check up.

Winston the cleverly named British Bulldog came in for his first puppy vaccine. It's important puppies are kept away from parks or pavements until fully vaccinated. As you can see, he doesn't mind being carried until then 😊.

Henry came in today for a health check from our local rescue The Ginger Cat House rescue Worcester Park Surrey. He is such bold boy he made himself at home on our vet's chair. Shame he can't stay 😍

Remember little Ellie May who came in to our Voo Vets Wandsworth branch? She was so fragile and needed hand feeding every 4 hours. Without June’s help at The Ginger Cat House rescue Worcester Park Surrey she may not have made it. Now she is full of beans!

Is your pet enjoying the sunshine? I know this little man certainly is. Top tip: chicken stock ice cubes are a great treat to help cool down your pet this summer ☀️😍

Daisy came 3rd in our Sausage Catching Competition Class (she didn’t miss one, her catching style was so gentle and effortless and her tail never stopped wagging, clever girl!)

Diesel came 2nd in our Sausage Catching Competition Class (he had the highest, longest throw and catch, no small challenge while on a lead, a born athlete!)

Charlie came 1st in our Sausage Catching Competition Class (he barked to say he was ready for each go, and displayed all sorts of twists, turns and reverse catches, a born acrobat!)

Brave little Nero who was hit by a car just a few weeks ago is making a fantastic recovery. He underwent two surgeries to repair his hip and knee. He is currently being looked after by June @The Ginger Cat House rescue Worcester Park Surrey until he is ready to be homed. Check out June’s page to follow his progress 😻
