The last WSSD class of 2024 was a scent workshop at our little Gloucestershire venue and teams Bo-Katan, Milo, Oakley and Olive started working on “Distractions and Blanks.” Various odours and blanks were placed along with the target odour and all dogs ignored them and the blanks…. It was success all round.
We then completed a level one Nosework Games skills assessment on “Line Ups” and again all teams were successful well done guys!

Monday night scent training at Storridge with Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd. A festive special with hats, crackers, nibbles and some great Scentwork with teans Basil, Bo-Katan, Guus, and Magni…
We started with a Nosework Games Skill Aassessment on ”Adopt a Position” and the “positions” caused quite a bit of laughter! All dogs passed and there were some cracking indications… well done guys!

The afternoon teams of Jessie, Luci, Milo and Skylar at Sixways with Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd loved searching the stands and inside the bar areas despite the swirling scent and the many distractions including a Football match with Worcester City womens team. They worked some of the outside areas which made for longer trails and the the inside spaces with some decoy training.. Great indications by all teams!

The last Mantrailing session of 2024 with Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd and the last Christmas Special at Sixways Stadium until 2025 .. Teams Bailey, Keeper, Roosta and Zack enjoyed the challenging trails that the stadium naturally provides. They all completed some casting and practiced their indications and some decoy training … brilliant work guys!

The afternoon teams of Dylan, Lila, Orlagh and Rufus had a great time on the second d Christmas Special with Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd. They loved the problem solving trail I set them at the new school venue.
It was the start of indications for Team Orlagh and the rest of the teams worked the many junctions and corners on their trails… great work guys!

It was the second Christmas Special and what a fantastic day mantrailing we had with Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd at our new school venue!
The morning teams of Blaney,Olive, Olive (yes there were two of them!) and Zack had a great time trailing inside the school classrooms and outside on the large grounds!
Shout out to Blaney her first trail back after a large operation three months ago but she blitzed it and also Megan and Olive who had never trailed inside before and was very confident and accurate. Well done all!

Monday night scent detection class and this week it was “Distractions & Blanks” and teams Basil, Flossi, Magni and Tilly had to just find the gun oil amongst blank hides and several distraction odours. A couple of dogs seemed to like one of the odours but a successful session.
We then looked at how placement may affect the dog in not detecting the odour to source and what the handler can look out for.
We finished the evening on some Selection practice.. great work guys!

The afternoon teams with Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd of Bryn, Finn, Milo and Oscar didn’t have the large gusts of wind to contend with but we did have showers of drizzle rain but all were smiling and laughing at our attempt’s to keep Santa hats on. Road crossings, novel scent articles, and split trails were smashed and Team Finn did their last trail in the dark as we were losing the light… not even that could dampened our spirits and all left tired and happy and some progression badges earned… well done guys!

So today we decided to go ahead with the first of Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd Christmas Special at one of our urban venues. The wind was still gusty so it was a challenge for the teams but teams Flossi, Keeper Milo and Skylar rose to it and they really were very confident, accurate and focused … they completed split trails, problem solving trails, long trails and back trails …and all completed with perfect indications.. well done all!

Tonight was the last week of the Introduction to Scent class and four teams Flossi, Guus, Kiwi and Nellie passed with flying colours and it included their NNA Foundation ORT.. in fact Guus passed his on week 4!
We then completed a couple of interior searches , one where the handler had to state when they thought the room was clear and the other with random items so they had to practice their planning and then review after the search what went well, what happened to the plan, what was missed…

Great work guys it was a pleasure to teach you and look forward to seeing you in the next Foundation trial with Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd

Sunday afternoon was a Scent Detection Workshop with Worcester Search & Scent Dogs Ltd concentrating on Exterior searches.
Teams Bailey, Flossi, Nell, and Orlagh completed 4 searches starting with a training search to see where their practice at home had left them, a motivational small search to warm them up then 2 other searches to really look at planning and search patterns …great work guys!
