The last announcement! I’ve had to wait a little longer than I had planned to announce this than I would have liked (Life happens).
BUT

I am very pleased to say that I am now a 4 star licensed dog boarder ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4 stars is the highest rating you can get in the first year of a license so we’re very happy with our rating. The boarding will be based at my home in the village of defford. Lots of quiet country walks at our disposal 🥰

I will be taking on dogs from January 2025 so do please message for information if you are interested and spread the word ❤️

just because I’m cutting back on grooming doesn’t mean I’m cutting back on dogs in my life 😉

Hi everyone just wanted to share a few things with firework season upon us.

They are going to happen, they will be unexpected and on random night at random times. You may not agree with them. You may have pets that are fine, you may have pets that are terrified.

There’s many things you can do to help them through this time. Keep cats in after dark, walk/toilet dogs before dark. Keep a noise source on all night(radio,tv,whatever) have some prepared stress relievers such as lick mats and kongs. Use snoods, keep curtains closed. Be ready to comfort/play. What ever you need to get through it.

HOWEVER your dog will ALWAYS be terrified if you only prepare them at this time each year. The same as your dog will ALWAYS be scared of the groomer, scared of the vet, scared of traffic, scared of people if you don’t train them at home. Training needs to happen all year round to help pets cope with stressful environments. If you read most plugins or calming meds they need to be in your dogs system WEEKS before they’re “needed” please take this as a note to try for next year and any other environments your dog finds stressful. Use the year to figure out what works for your dog because every dog is different. Whether that is play, comfort, having a safe place to “hide”. Any decent dog trainer can help give you a plan on what to do throughout the year to make each year a little easier. But it is constant. I’ve started “gun training” my dogs going forward, at a young age I go to a shooting ground starting far away(can be miles) and moving closer to gently expose them to the noise and vibrations. I now have a dog that gets excited when he hears guns/fireworks on the tv! There are sooo many things you can do. So please try BEFORE it’s an issue.

I have a dog who is very scared of fireworks, thankfully not as bad as some we’ve had previously but enough to make the next few days very stressful and difficult (not just at night) will moaning on Facebook help? No. Will asking on the local group page if and when people are planning at home fireworks help? Yes.

I’ll gladly share any advice or recommend trainers who can help.

I’ve been a little excited about this next announcement!
I’ve (finally 🙄) after 5 years got some proper branding done! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but one of those jobs that gets pushed down the list.
It’s still going to be a while to get clothing/signs etc sorted but I couldn’t not share my new logo 🥰

Next announcement!
Next years diary is open 😁
any yearly bookers please send me a message with your preferred days, times and weeks.

A few things will be changing. This year has been the first year I have struggled with grooming physically. This job is much more physically and mentally demanding than most people realise. It’s not just playing with puppies 🙄I started to suffer from sciatica which unfortunately grooming is the main cause of. Nearing burn out(I probably went passed this a couple years ago😅) I don’t want to give up, I love it, but to be able to carry on I need to be sensible. I’ve been working 6-7 days a week for the last 5 years and was already grooming 5 years before that. That being said I have tried to balance my decisions moving forward, with some exciting things being announced soon!

Here are my hours for next year

Monday Closed
Tuesday. 9-4:30
Wednesday 9-5:30
Thursday 9-4:30 (closed every other week)
Friday 9-4:30
Saturday 9-5:30 (closed 2 a month)
Sunday Closed

These new hours will hopefully give me a little rest while still keeping most people happy. It does mean booking in advance is soooo much more important now! I would encourage anyone to book for the year, if you’ve not done so before just pop me a message and we can chat about it. If you need Saturday appointments I would insist on yearly bookings as I already struggle to fit everyone in.

Mousse has requested more days like this 🥹 without his mum being too crippled to take him up the mountains he belongs in ❤️

Thank you everyone for your continued support and understanding, Katie and Mousse

A bit about me.

I have been working as a professional groomer full time since I left college 5 years ago. I currently own 6 dogs. I have always been around dogs and train and compete with my own all over the country so I am very experienced with handling many different dogs. I always take a gentle reward based approach to anything I do with dogs and I treat yours as if they were mine for the time that they are left with me. Most of my dogs are rescues so I’m very used to dealing with difficult dogs who have many issues. Every dog is different and takes time to feel at ease, my main responsibility is doing so for every dog with what is best for them.

Any questions about anything please just ask! I am here to help in any way I can. you can contact me via facebook, phone number(07395808264) or you can always pop into the shop to say hi so i can meet you and your dogs. Plus I might have my puppies with me and who doesn’t love a puppy cuddle!
