Our first delivery of pond plants of the year has arrived and they are looking great. Lots of native varieties available already with many more to come as the season progresses. Now is a great time to give the pond a quick tidy up before the frogs arrive.

As we approach the big day, we would like to wish all of you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a bubbly New Year in 2024! We are truly grateful for your continued support and loyalty throughout the year and have some exciting new projects to share with you in 2024.

In fact, 2024 is a landmark year for us, so keep an eye on our website and social media for news and announcements to make sure you don't miss out!

All Maidenhead Aquatics stores will be open over the festive period, except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Please note that some may also be closed on New Year's Day, so we'd recommend calling the store you plan to visit before leaving home, as some may also be operating on reduced opening hours. Rest assured, however, that all of our fish and livestock will receive special Christmas feeds and water changes and that we'll ensure they're all well and happy over the holidays.

The Fluvial FX UVC has arrived in store. Maidenhead Aquatics stores are the first in the country to receive these long awaited units. Add one of these units in line with your external filter to help improve water clarity.

We are closed today (Easter Sunday) but will be open again on Monday morning at 9am.

We have a selection of pond heaters available in store to help prevent your pond from freezing over completely during the colder weather. Keeping an area of the pond free from ice is important to allow for toxic gases like carbon monoxide to escape. During this colder weather the fishes metabolism is very slow and therefore it's unlikely that they will actually run short of oxygen but they may succumb to a build up of other gases under the ice. It's important not to circulate the water at the bottom of the pond and mix it with the water on the top which will be colder. If you wish to continue to run the pumb raise it up closer to the surface so as not to disturb the water at the bottom which will remain at 4c giving somewhere for the fish to seek refuge from the freezing water on the surface.
These small pond heaters are not designed to elevate the temperature of the entire pond but merely to keep an area ice free to allow for gaseous exchange.

It's 3:30am and we are at work to receive the latest delivery of Japanese koi. Unfortunately these ones won't be ready for sale this weekend but our previous delivery is now ready to find new permanent homes so why not pay us a visit over the bank holiday weekend and check them out.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a part time general assistant working two days mid week and providing holiday cover as needed. No previous experience is required but a keen interest in all things fish related is important. This role involves a wide variety of tasks including caring for the livestock and helping customers find the right products for their aquariums and ponds.
