Woodlander Dornroeschen, bred by the Hoerners and produced at Woodlander, was trained to International Grand Prix by Michael Eilberg. She has bred for Woodlander the double World Young Horse Champion at five and six;, Woodlander Farouche, four licensed stallions, Franz Ferdinand, Freddie M, For Kingdom and Fosbury. She also bed for us three fantastic daughters including the 2020 Futurity Foal Champion, Die Rose by Danciero now held in partnership with a top German dressage rider. Her daughter Elite Farouche bred our wonderful and influential stallion Woodlander Wild Child.
In 2022 Dornroeschen was BHHS Mare of the Year and has surely founded a dynasty.
Sadly, in the early hours of this morning she suffered a severe and unusual colic, having been fit and thriving with individual care and love from Nicole Nelson at Malthouse Farm for the last eighteen months. She was a queen having safely retired sound six years ago. We chose not to let this wonderful mare undergo a likely unsuccessful surgery on veterinary advice and we took the decision to let her fly away. She will always be at the heart of the past and future Woodlander breeding.

Perfect meal Buccatini Scarpariello ( for cobblers!) and Ripasso Valpolicella. Perfect end to a long day of travel and work. Now at Culture Hotel Capodimonte very capo not sure about culture but staff lovely. Tomorrow Renaissance Art and home. Love to be in Italy... nowhere in Europe do streets and traffic look like they do in Napoli. Broken and beautiful. Sometimes O feel tourism is like eating at the co**se! but it must come back to life as one of the biggest contributors to Renaissance and Art. This was the home of Woodlander for five years and apart from Farouche who was bred by us in Wales, many of the horses for sale have other strands of woodlander DNA. Well worth a visit. Enjoy

30th Anniversary Interview Series

For our fourth interview we are pleased to have been able to join Lynne Crowden of the Woodlander Stud in the UK. She is the breeder of the striking chestnut mare Woodlander Farouche, double World Breeding Championship winner. A passionate breeder, originally breeding thoroughbreds, she is a strong believer in line-breeding, and focusing on the dam line. She has taken these philosophies with her into dressage breeding, and has excelled at producing horses of international quality.

Just saying......I love immigration and what it brings ....culture, ideas, talent, hope.....and Olympic medals galore for the top Olympic results. We are all immigrants...our thinkers. our designers and artists, our businessmen our doctors and nurses, teachers, engineers, F1 champions. Our migration may have been pre Roman, Viking, Saxon, Middle ages and 19th and 20th cebntury. Much that we can be proud of came from immigrants and long may that continue. When the English complain about migration just remember that you landed here when most of GB was Welsh. Love Wales

I know my retirement is quite a long time coming! I will not be breeding other than with partners after this year. I have a number of very special mares at various ages and stages with modern pedigrees and top mare lines - Glock's Dream Boy, Diamond Hit, Sandro Hit, Bon Vivaldi, Wolkenstein, Wavavoom, Hochmeister, Labadio,

A fantastic small three year old mare, to make 15.3/16hh for a serious rider or breeder from Woodlander Stud. A really big mover, she was sold last year but had to be recovered after payment not made. Very disappointing for me and a breach of contract and trust but lucky for someone else. By In My Mind out of a State Premium mare by For Compliment, she is a half sister to Wild Love, a licensed Hannoverian stallion and from an extraordinary Westfalian mare family. So thrilled to spend time in Germany with Woodlander bred horses owned by us and other happy people. For the Futurity Detractors just to let you know that the top dressage foal of 2020 Woodlander Die Rose (Danciero x Dimaggio) now owned in partnership and proved herself by picking up Silver at her first appearance with the amazing Katrin Burger and 83%. A magic figure for Kathrin as she won the next day with 83% with Woodlander Sequoia (Secret x Imperio) now owned by Markus Schetter. Many congratulations to the owners.
