Shetland Society Sale

The society sale at Worcester market has certainly established itself as the premier sale for the breed throughout the calendar year.
This autumns sale attracted its usual excellent entry of 348 from breeders all over the UK, with super quality throughout the sale.
An enormous crowd assembled for the sale which resulted in a great trade from start to finish.
Top price of the day went to Lot 288 from Stevenson & Jacqueline McKay a beautiful three-year-old piebald filly who had been judged miniature champion and Overall champion the day before by Nick Trew the judge. Spirited bidding resulted in her selling for ยฃ7,000 to T Dunne,Bleatarn.
The sale commenced with the c**t foals, over a hundred present which sold up to ยฃ2,625 for lot 59 from Mark Cosgrove (Trythall) selling to Sarah Belton.
The filly foal section had just as many entries top slot was for Lot 155 from Barrie & Jamie Russ (Jambarrie) by Halstock Little King these regular consignors to the sale sold at ยฃ5,040 to Messerโs. Harrison & Howe.
Licensed stallions again from Stevenson & McKay sold lot 211 a four-year-old by Kerswell Invictus at ยฃ3,675 to Halstock & Blacketor.
Yearling c**ts sold to ยฃ2,625 again from Stevenson & McKay selling to France.
The two-year-old c**t section produced lots of interest and top price was for lot 226 from Steve & Jane Rendall (Hollydell) selling at ยฃ3,990 to D Barr.
Only two three-year-old c**ts entered and sold to ยฃ735.
The gelding section always creates lots of interest, and several were riding prospects, such a prospect was the broken to ride Sharptor Blackjack from Gemma Davies a black seven-year-old which made ยฃ3,360 to T Mitchell, Lambourne.
Yearling Fillys sold to ยฃ2,100 for lot 250 from Karen Hodge by BNB Viceroy a lovely black filly selling to Lisa Eaton.
Two-year-old fillies sold to 4,200 from Andrew Butterfield (Hermits) a skewbald and made ยฃ4,200 to G Anderson.
As mentioned, the three-year-old section was topped by the overall champion.
In the Mare section all sold very well some were ridden and the top price was for lot 320A from Lottie Davies a twelve-year-old skewbald who had done a bit of everything and was confidently ridden by Lotties young daughter she sold for ยฃ6,510 to W. Laidler.
All in all, great support from the vendors & purchasers we all look forward to the 2025 sale which will be on October the 4th & 5th Saturday & Sunday.
