"You're overcomplicating it" - a rather all encompassing quote this time... Simplify it. You're missing something. Think outside the box. They're all pertaining to handlers needing a little prompt to rethink their handling options or route choices.

One of the keys to good handling is finding the right thing to simplify: make it easy for yourself as a handler; or make it easy for the dog to work. A good course will require a significant tradeoff between the two and, often, that tradeoff will depend on the handler-dog combination.

Don't overcomplicate things.

This week's course running challenge! Turn up, walk the course, warm up, run the course.

Which level handlers ran was determined by their ability to do weaves and advanced handling. But, overall, I tried to keep the course consistent as the focus was on memory, decision making, and handling under pressure.

I will let you make mistakes - even when I see them coming from a mile off; because mistakes are some of the best lessons. You need to experience something going wrong and analyse the why so you can figure out the solution.

"What's the plan?" - my favourite prompt. Most of the time, I ask this on course... Where are you going and how do you plan to achieve it? It's my little way of getting you to think for yourself and to start learning to read and understand courses and options. I may also ask for your long term plan... What needs improving and how are we going to go about it?

Always plan ahead.
