So I went and did another follow up on Baloo (sneaky cuddle) and he is doing amazing 😍

His owner is doing an amazing job and Baloo has 😁 landed on his paws. Being just over 12 months he does occasionally try and push the boundaries but he is honestly as soft as muck and has an amazing temperament. You can definitely tell he's Dave's brother (my Mali) as they have so much in common with their behaviour traits lol

This little man is a jack Russell cross patterdale and don't his owners know it. Session 1 of 4 was getting his to listen and not react to the dog next door. I assessment his behaviour outdoors on the big wide world and it's quickly became apparent that he is over aroused and very quickly trigger stacks. So he will also be learning to be calm at door and we'll build it up so he learns to recover quicker and for him to be able to cope and not get over aroused.

Marlow Marlow Marlow, I am so bloody proud of you buddy. Going from scared to allowing to strangers (in his world) to stroke him and give him a fuss.

Meet this little dude, he's just recently had his first session of four for his reactivity. He actually did really well and we decided to give the clicker ago for various behaviours in the house. Well he was brilliant and by the end of the session he was a lot calmer regarding strangers (myself) being in his house.

Look at the beautiful Winnie, she's been with her new family just a couple of months and she's absolutely perfect apart from one little issue, her reactivity when she sees another dog. We first worked on getting her to listen to her name as she has a tendency to ignore her owner when out on walks and prefers to sniff. We then worked on her reactivity towards other dogs. For her first session she did amazing, I'll be seeing her again after a few weeks as she's being spayed and needs a couple of weeks recovery time.

The Ralphster doesn't like strangers and he gives an impressive display of aggression. I've worked with Ralph before and got to the point that he trusted me enough to stroke him, walk him and be in a secure dog field with him off lead playing ball. I've not seen him for over a year due to the family's personal circumstances but I'm back. They did try a trainer ( if we can call him that) who was closer, but let's just say his idea of training is certainly one to be questioned.

So Ralph was quite happy with me throwing him chicken, and we got to the point he was looking at my treat pouch and then me and then yapping.

Next session we'll be going for a walk and I'll be bringing his favourite primula cheese with ham (it's in the fridge ready).

Ralph see you soon buddy 😍🐕‍🦺🐾

It's essential that every puppy learns to enjoy being handled, especially on the parts of the body that turn into common bite triggers. Early puppyhood handling and socialization is easy to do and makes a huge difference in a dog's temperament and quality of life, for the rest of their life!

So I went to see Marlow, the last time I saw him was at puppy class, so he was a small fluff ball, he's now a large fluffy ball who is having some help for reactivity as he is scared of many things. Fingers crossed I will get a cuddle from him. He did decide to come and sit next to me which is a massive step for him.

Teddy had his 2nd visit and sadly his behaviour has deteriorated, he had an incident where he was frightened by another dog, which has now resulted in him being scared when outdoors. So the next session will involve some desensitisation and counter conditioning to help him cope when he sees other dogs.

This little cutie did absolutely brilliant for his first behaviour session, usually he will chase the cats who he lives with, but he did amazing not to chase the cat when she decided to come and sit next to me. He is also reactive to other dogs when put and about, and again he was a little star 🤩🐾✨

Kyla the assistance dog is getting very close to taking her public access test and her training levels to become a fully trained assistance dog. She was amazing at Bentley gala, there was so much noise, music, other dogs, lots of people, fair ground rides and even alpacas. Kyla didn't batter an eye lid and breezed through it and took it all in her stride. Little Millie has had a couple of sessions for reactivity towards people and dogs, she has been doing great and as you can see she's quite close to a large group of people and it didn't bother her. Today's lifeskills was great, the dogs learnt some loose lead in preparation for the final week. They did brilliantly considering they are training with lots of different distractions. Even with a horse in the next paddock, that didn't put them off. It was Buddy's last session today and this lad has come on leaps and bounds. His owners have worked really hard and the difference is amazing. I was originally brought in for his anxiety and fear issues, but changing a few things and bringing in some mental stimulation as well as training him to the clicker we've seen a huge improvement, and his owners are really happy with his progress. Poppy's owners have spent everyday practicing loose lead walking with her, as she likes to really pull, jump, and zigzag in front of whoever is walking her. The video is only several seconds long but she's really doing well and she's not dragging her owners all over

Brilliant puppy class this week, all the pups were and amazing. They are doing so well.

Getting your dog to use their nose is a great way to promote calmess and help with mental stimulation. 10 minutes of sniffing for a pet dog is the equivalent of an hours exercise. A dog using their nose helps to lower the heart rate and can help to create a new conditioned emotional response.
