Purrfect kittens Phantom and Ghost enjoyed their first vet visit when they met Amanda and the team this week.
The initial kitten visit is so important to get right to ensure a stress free and fun experience for kittens.
The kittens were with us for an hour getting to know our expert feline veterinary care team, and having much fun exploring the consultation rooms. They may have enjoyed a few treats as well 😻
If you have a new kitten or are thinking of getting a kitten, and want to find out more about our feline fear free vet visits, please have a look at our website: https://www.cwvet.co.uk/ or speak to one of our feline friendly team in the clinic 😽

As well as Royal Canin and Hills prescription diets, did you know we are stockists of Thrive Cat Food?

Thrive is a complete grain free food, made with only the purest ingredients. Available in an easy to manage size tin, it contains no fillers or artificial ingredients making it an extremely easy to digest food for your cat. On opening a tin, you will immediately notice why it is so different to other foods. As well as tins, it is also available in a grain free dry form, which can be fed alone or mixed with your cats’ favorite fresh meat variety.

All meat and fish varieties are slowly cooked in their own broth and the food contains no colours, artificial flavours or sugar. To date, we know of very few cats who have turned their noses up at Thrive! Due to its palatability, it is also extremely well received by even the most sensitive of tummies.

Thrive freeze dried treats are also available and are always a big hit with our inpatients and visiting felines! Again, unlike many treats, these little cubes contain no added sugar or nasties.

All food can either be purchased directly from the clinic or via our online pawtal. We offer a 10% discount on purchases of 12 tins or more.

For further information, or if you would like to try your cat on a tin or two of Thrive, please call into the clinic and we will be happy to help and show you the range!

As a small team of feline veterinary experts, we are able to offer a personal service to our patients and their families. This means we are fortunate enough to get to know our patients as if they were our own. It is always very sad for us all when its time to say goodbye to a much loved friend and family member. Millie and her family had been registered with the clinic for many years and sadly it was time to say goodbye to Millie recently.

Millie’s family very generously sent us this wonderful card and they have kindly allowed us to share their words.

“ We are so grateful for all your incredibly attentive, caring, thoughtful, invaluable, (very) patient supportive hard work during our time with Millie.

Your love and care meant that Millie lived the most comfortable life she could during her senior golden years!

We are so lucky to have had her, and even more so to have had you by our side. Thank you.”

Thank you so much David and Olivia, we know how much you will miss dear Millie.

WE ARE RECRUITING!

One of our lovely nurses is off to pastures new and we are seeking an additional RVN.

A bit about us…
We are an independently owned, cat only, membership clinic in Worthing, West Sussex,
We are a Gold Standard Cat friendly clinic and all clinical staff are required to undertake a 'Fear Free’ certification. This is an area we are especially proud of and feel passionately that our patients benefit greatly from our calm and quiet approach with no smell of dogs anywhere on the premises.
All our nurse consultations are a minimum of 20 minutes long and our vet consultations are a minimum of 30 minutes long. Our RVN's are involved in all aspects of the clinic and because our team is small you are able to take part in all areas of nursing, encouraging you to utilise your qualification and undertake Schedule 3 work and autonomy.
We are extremely fortunate to have lovely clients and patients and get to see a wide range of different feline breeds and moggies, just like our lovely friend Mouse in this picture. Being a membership practice means we work with carefully selected owners who want the best care for their cats and this means we are a small clinic in terms of numbers are we are able to deliver a truly personal service to our clients.

Who we are looking for…
Firstly, being a cat lover is vital! We are seeking either a full time RVN but could also accommodate 2 part time RVN's to cover full time hours. Our ideal candidate would be someone who has a particular interest in feline medicine and nursing clinics. An interest in dentistry would also be an advantage. Our RVN's are very much client facing, therefore you need to be an excellent communicator and enjoy client education.

What we are offering...
We are offering a salary range of £28k - £34k depending on experience (pro rata if part time), working 36 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 8am - 5.30pm with a 30 minute lunch or 8am - 6pm with a 1 hour lunch).
We are not open at weekends or bank holidays and the best part is that we guarantee a 3 day weekend to ALL members of the team, as we believe a healthy work/home balance is vital to this profession. There is NO limit at all on CPD budget. All we ask is that it is beneficial to the clinic and our feline patients, so your progression is unlimited.

If you are interested in finding out more about how we work, we would welcome you to contact us, come in and observe for a few hours and chat to members of our team. Please email [email protected] and vet and owner Amanda will contact you.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Adorable little kitten Toodles visited us for the first time today and was very happy to be cuddled and smothered in kisses which absolutely made our day!

It was vet student Andrea’s last day with us today and we have loved having her spend time with us learning about all things feline.
Here’s what Andrea had to say about her placement:
“A huge thank you to the team for welcoming me to Cat’s Whiskers. I am very grateful for the excellent teaching and encouraging attitude shown towards me by all staff members. It has been a wonderful first EMS placement and I would highly recommend the practice to other vet students!”

We wish Andrea the very best for the remainder of her course at the Royal Veterinary College in London and hope to work with her again in future.

Sharing on behalf of Worthing Cat Welfare Trust to help find a new loving home for gorgeous Hela.

This initially shy but very sweet-natured little cat is looking for a calm, loving home after experiencing a traumatic start to life.

Hela came in to our care with an infected wound, caused by her leg being trapped in her collar, after at least a couple of months living on the streets.

After a few weeks recuperating with one of our lovely fosterers, she's now flourishing and the wound has healed completely.

Fond of raising her paw to attract her people's attention, Hela could live with calm, older children but is untested with other pets. Aged approximately three years old, she is looking for a home with garden access.

Sharing on behalf of Worthing Cat Welfare Trust

Little Bobo is a sweet, chatty cat who sadly came into our care after his owners died and is now looking for his second chance at happiness.

Aged five years old, he can understandably be a little shy but once he warms to people, he is a lovely companionable cat.

Bobo will need outdoor access and could live with another calm cat/s, if introduced carefully. We also think he'd be fine with children aged 10 plus.

A home visit is required, plus a donation fee. Please also share this post with family and friends.

The kittens coming to see us at the moment just keep getting cuter and cuter! Yesterday we met super cute Simba for the first time and it was love at first sight 😻

Simba is a house cat so his owner has signed him up to our ‘junior indoor’ cat plan to cover his essential health care needs. Indoor cats have a lower risk for picking up parasites and catching infectious diseases, compared to outdoor cats, so we offer health care plans specifically for indoor cats. The indoor cat plans provide protection without risking unnecessary treatments and start at just £9.95 per month.

For more information about our plans, please visit our website or pop in to the clinic to speak to a member of our feline friendly team:

We ask owners to bring familiar items from home when cats and kittens come in for procedures, as we find this helps reduce anxiety and is a very important part of the we aim to provide every time your cats and kittens come to see us 😻

Beautiful Burmese brothers, River and Caspurr enjoyed their visit to the clinic yesterday for their annual health checks, vaccinations and playtime.
Burmese cats are known for being very playful and often have characteristics more like dogs than cats such as playing fetch. Caspurr loves playing fetch at home and even has a favourite ball he likes to play fetch with.
We always love their visits and look forward to seeing them again in 6 months time 😻😻

We have loved having final year vet student Olivia in the clinic for the past 2 weeks.
We have known Olivia for many years since she first came to the clinic for work experience while still at school. Since leaving school Olivia has been back in the clinic for some of her vet school placements and to work as a nursing assistant, so she is part of our Cat’s Whiskers family and we are very proud of her achievements.
As well as being very intelligent and knowledgeable, Olivia has a lovely gentle way with cats and is one of the kindest people you could ever meet, so we know she will make a fantastic vet when she qualifies in a few month’s time. Whichever practice she starts her career working in, will be very lucky to have her!
Good luck Olivia 😽

Sharing to help find a new home for lovely Mindy 😻

STILL WAITING - Mindy is a lovely, friendly cat who is looking for a loving home after growing in confidence with one of our fabulous fosterers.

The 12-year-old came into our care after becoming stressed by the other cats in her house and she started living outdoors.

She's enjoyed life with her fosterer but she now needs a home, with garden access, where she can sit in the sun.

She's a self-possessed little cat but enjoys human company and needs a calm home, with either adults only or a family with calm teenagers. She cannot live with other pets.

As she's an older lady, she qualifies for our Golden Oldies' scheme, which provides support for age-related conditions. For more information, see: https://www.worthingcatwelfaretrust.org/golden-oldies/

We would really like to find her a new, forever home in time for the better weather. If you can help please fill out the adoption form:

https://www.worthingcatwelfaretrust.org/adoption-process/

A home check and donation are required. Please share this post with your family and friends.
