Beautiful day at Helen Phillips Clicker Gundog for our first shoot over day of the season. Was so warm!

Callisto was so much better than last year and managed to get a good flush of a pheasant in thick bramble bushes (she's not keen on those). Can't wait to see how she (and I) get on for the rest of the season.

Midweek Fun Pet Gundog Training - 6 week course Ā£130

Specialized Training ā€“ By engaging a dog's mind through activities that tap into their natural instinctsā€”you can achieve a "tired mind," which is often more powerful than just tiring out their body. This approach helps gundogs feel fulfilled, mentally satisfied, and more balanced at home.

Obedience & Control ā€“ Improve recall, steadiness, and lead handling.

Breed specific understanding ā€“ applying understanding of gundog breeds so we know what drives them, from their chase instinct to their retrieving skills. Focus engaging their minds as well as their physical abilities to truly satisfy their needs.

Help to fulfil your dogā€™s natural behaviour.

Now available to book! A 1:1 - 6 week course covering 10 easy steps to walking your dog on a loose lead.

A Science-Based, Positive Reinforcement Program for Calm and Happy Walks

Our approach to lead walking focuses on fostering a relaxed, enjoyable experience for both dog and guardian. Our goal is not to have your dog walk in a rigid heel position, but to encourage loose-lead walking that allows your dog to explore within the boundaries of the leash while maintaining a calm and cooperative connection with you.

Includes a 56 page e-workbook and certificate

Capturing natural-looking photos of dogs and their owners can indeed be tricky, especially if you're taking them yourself. The candid, unposed moments where the bond between owner and dog is most visible are often the most beautiful but hardest to achieve.

A relaxed and fun atmosphere is essential when capturing photos of people and their dogs. If everyone is enjoying themselves, it shines through in the photos, resulting in natural, heartwarming images. Itā€™s also key to making the process enjoyable for both the people and their dogs, ensuring that everyone is comfortable and happy. Hereā€™s why that atmosphere is so important and how to foster it:

1. Comfort Leads to Authenticity
When owners and dogs feel relaxed, they let their guards down. This leads to genuine, candid moments where the love, trust, and bond between them can be naturally captured. If people are too focused on ā€œposing,ā€ the resulting images can feel forced or awkward.

2. Patience with the Dogs
Dogs, like people, can get nervous or restless when theyā€™re in a new setting or being photographed. A fun, calm environment helps them stay comfortable and engaged. Being patient and allowing breaks to play or move around helps relieve tension, ensuring the dogs arenā€™t overwhelmed.

3. Letting Go of Perfection
By embracing spontaneity, you allow room for the unexpected. A dog making a silly face, an owner laughing at their pupā€™s antics ā€” these are the moments that capture the spirit of the relationship and make for the best memories. Itā€™s not about a perfect pose but the connection.

Collaborating with a trainer and a professional photographer can elevate the experience and ensure better results when working with dogs and their owners.

Action! Lee Pullen Photography captures a truly dynamic moment on camera!

A Labrador in mid-pounce, filled with energy and grace, frozen in a single still frame that conveys the thrill of action. Capturing that combination of intense focus, power, and movement in a dog is tricky but so rewarding. Labradors are such expressive dogs, and in a moment like that, you can see their whole personality come through: playful, determined, and full of life.

The key to getting a shot like that is timing and anticipationā€”being ready just as the dog is about to spring. Itā€™s amazing how a single frame can convey so much motion and excitement!
