Since becoming a lifesaver with Pet Blood Bank in 2017, Sharwood, with the help of his dedicated owner, Sue, has:

🩸 Donated every single time!
🐶 Helped to save the lives of up to 160 dogs
⚖ Donated a total of 22.5kg of blood

Now, Sharwood is heading off for a well-deserved retirement and more dogs are needed to follow in his paw prints 😇

A male Maine C**n cat has been brought in to our Shotton branch.
He is microchipped and believe his name is Stanley from the Colwyn Bay area. Unfortunately the contact numbers on the chip are unavailability.

PETS IN A HEATWAVE 🐾☀️

The British weather doesn’t always treat us with the glorious sunshine we have been having recently so we’ve put together a top tip list of things you can do at home to help keep your pets cool 🩵⬇️💦

🐶 DOGS
☀️ Frozen treats such as Lickimats, stuffed Kongs and even ice cubes!
☀️ Pet cooling mat
☀️ Avoid mid day walks when the sun is the hottest (Dogs won’t die from missing a walk but they may die when walked in the extreme heat)

🐱 CATS
☀️ Freeze tuna water in an ice cube tray
☀️ Pet cooling mat
☀️ Ensure they always have somewhere they can hide away and get shade

🐰 RABBITS
☀️ Use frozen water bottles in their enclosure, they’ll love spreading out next to them to keep cool.
☀️ Ensure they have plenty of shade and dens to hide away in
☀️ Cold leafy greens straight from the fridge

Always ensure that all your pets stay hydrated and always have plenty of fresh water available.

Thank you to all that contributed to our Bake Sale back in May to raise funds for Smokey Paws - this is why we did it 🥰

SMOKEY PAWS TO THE RESCUE!

Earlier this month, Oswestry and Ellesmere firefighting crews were called out to a house fire in Oswestry.

At the scene, an 80-year-old man was assessed by paramedics for smoke inhalation, and using the Smokey Paws Pet Resuscitation equipment on board their fire engine, a crew member successfully administered oxygen to his elderly dog. Both have thankfully made a complete recovery.

Here at Flintshire Tourism Association -FTA/Come To Wales, we are proud to support Andy Williams, firefighter with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, with his fundraising drive to equip all fire engines across North Wales with life-saving Smokey Paws kits, in memory of his beloved Pets As Therapy dog, Buddi the PAT dog, who passed away suddenly in March of this year.

All donations are very gratefully received, but if an individual or business wishes to purchase a kit outright at a cost of £95.00, they will receive a commemorative certificate, a photo opportunity, and publicity via our popular social media pages.

A huge Happy Birthday from us all, Kayla 🐶🎉

What a lovely message to receive today:

We brought Kayla to see you at the Penyffordd branch when she was 9 and a half. She was very poorly and we came for a second opinion as we were completely dissatisfied with how she was being treated at another local vets.

We initially saw Louise who gave Kayla a chance and tried a couple of treatments to give her a chance. Thank you Louise from the bottom of our hearts. She said there was a strong possibility that things weren’t great for her but wanted to give her that chance.

Elly then took over her care. None of us truly know what is going on with Kayla but three years later we still have her, she’s still her nutty self and she loves life. She also loves going to see Elly. Your team are amazing. The dedication you have towards your patients is amazing and we can’t thank you all enough. We’ve visited every branch with initially four, now three dogs and everyone has been so helpful and kind.

We wanted to say a special Happy 13th Birthday to our miracle, Kayla and also a huge thank you to Elly and all the staff.

EXCITING NEWS 🗞️📣

Previously we could only carry out laparoscopic surgeries on dogs between 7kg - 15kg however we have invested in further laparoscopic sursery equipment which means we can now offer lap speys for dogs between 3kg and 35kg 🐶🤩🥳

Laparoscopic surgery spaces fill up fast so if this is an option you’d like for your pet then contact us to book in your Pre-Op! 🩺❤️
