Tick season is here!
Today an owner brought his beloved dog to see us for a tick to be removed. It is ideal that they are removed correctly to ensure no mouth parts are left in your pets skin , as this can lead to localised inflammation and sometime infection .

The patient was very co-operative and had picked up this unwanted passenger whilst enjoying a run in the field's.

This is likely to be a sheep tick which is the most common tick we see on pets.

✔️A reminder to check your pets are up to date with parasite cover.

✔️ A little note to keep your dog on a lead while walking through field's with livestock

We are receiving a large number of calls regarding wild birds , specifically fledglings.
If you need some advice or come across a fledgling, please refer to the RSPCA fledgling advice.

During the spring and summer months, it's very common to find baby birds on the ground. Birds take far better care of their babies than humans can, so if you find a baby bird, keep your pets away and follow our advice below.

Following our adaopt a Greyhound month, we have been collecting donations for Hector's Greyhound Rescue. Today Fred from Hector's Greyhound Rescue came to collect all donations to take to the rescue centre for dogs that need homes. Sian one of our nurse's here at Rhyd Broughton brought along her two rescue Greyhounds Lola 🩷 and Toto 🩵.
We aim to raise awareness of this lovely gentle breed and the good work rescues do.

Do you recognise this girl? She was brought in to us by a member of public who had been feeding her for a few weeks. She is in good health but sadly she is not microchipped.
