Have you ever wondered about the different kinds of blood tests that we run for your pets? 🤔
Watch us perform a manual PCV test to measure the percentage of red blood cells in this sample! PCV stands for packed cell volume and it can help us detect things such as anaemia, blood loss and dehydration 🩸

We see and treat a lot of wildlife all year round here at Rhyd Broughton! 🦔
Each individual receives a health examination and the appropriate care needed. We often work with our local wildlife charities with the aim of rehabilitating and releasing these animals back into the wild 🐾❤️

Watch one of our nurses place an intravenous catheter into this brave doggo! 🐕🦺
We use IV catheters to help us give medications or fluid therapy to support the patient when they are hospitalised. Both vets and nurses are able to place catheters, with nurses routinely doing it in preparation for the veterinary procedure.

🐇 Have you heard of walking dandruff?🐇
Walking dandruff, also known as Cheyletiella, is a surface mite that lives on a rabbit’s skin, usually around the neck area. It looks like dandruff (hence the name!) and can cause rabbits to have skin irritation. Treatment can be given to soothe the irritation and clear up the infestation.
If you suspect your rabbit has mites, contact us for a check up!

Watch us remove a foreign body from a third eyelid! 👁️
Here are a few signs to look out for if you suspect your pet may have something in their eye:
* Reddening of the eye(s)
* Green or other abnormal discharge
* Pawing at their eye
* Partially closed eye lid
If you notice any of these signs speak to one of our vets!
Thank you to our star patient Watson for being so brave! 🦮
