๐พ Ball Size DOES Matter! ๐พ
We all love to pamper our pups, but those cute mini tennis balls for small dogs can be a BIG problem! ๐พ
When using our fields with these mini toys, ask yourselfโฆ
โ Can we be absolutely sure we wonโt lose it in the grass and that weโll take it home? โ
โ๏ธ Why? These tiny balls are just the right size to get stuck in the throats of bigger breeds. The next playful Labrador or curious German Shepherd could end up choking. Itโs a serious danger that could turn deadly in seconds. ๐ฑ
โ ๏ธ Even a standard tennis ball can be too small for some big breeds. โ ๏ธ So, help us keep all dogs safe!
Before you leave, double-check that youโve picked up all toys! Spot a toy when walking around? Weโd really appreciate you popping it in the toy baskets.
Your small action could save a big life! ๐โค๏ธ
โโโโโโ
Past Points...
Ban toys? We have spoken to others in the industry & some fields ban them, but people still bring them. Toys are great for training, fun, and bonding, so banning them would be unrealistic and unfair to enforce. We encourage you to bring robust toys than arenโt small enough to choke big dogs. There are toys small dogs can use that are not a choking hazard for big dogs!
No toy basket? During COVID, we removed toy baskets, but people still left toys behind. It wasnโt the solution. We only provide sensible toys ourselves.
We do regular field checks, and with the help of our great customers, we can tackle toy-related issues.
Broken toys?
Find one? Bin it.
Dog a chewer? There are some great toys on the market for dogs who are toy-destructive.
Got a toy-finding dog? We love you! ๐คฃ
It looks cooler tomorrow, and the good news is we still have several spots available for Agility in the morning (one or two evening too) and Hillside throughout the day! ๐พ Head to our website to book, or feel free to get in touch ๐
Free treats in Agility ๐
At the slight risk of dogs weeing on them Iโve chosen not to pick and eat these personally but blackberries are safe for dogs to eat ๐
You may have noticed we have cut back lots of brambles and the next task is to remove all this from hanging over the fencing โ
Cancellation: around 5:35pm Agility today! Tuesday 6th Aug. Book via website ๐
Around 3pm has come available for Agility today. If you want to book it please be aware there may be someone on the bank outside the field with a machine cutting the brambles (just incase this could bother your dogs)
(Tuesday 6th Aug)
Cancellation 3pm Adventure today ๐ (Sunday 4th Aug)

โค๏ธ Positive Associations: Introducing wind chimes during happy moments like playtime, will help your dog will associate the various sounds with joy and relaxation (all part of socialisation!). ๐พ
And it's not just for dogs! ๐ Wind chimes also bring a sense of calm and tranquility to us humans, turning our walks into a serene escape. ๐
๐พ Update: Enhanced Privacy in Hillside & Agility! ๐พ
Hey everyone!
We hope you and your pups are doing well! ๐ถ๐
We promised to keep you updated and are thrilled to share the latest improvements at Hillside and Agility. ๐ We've upgraded the screening from 3ft to 5ft on our 6ft fence between the fields, providing you and your dogs more privacy during your sessions. ๐ณ๐ ๏ธ
While many friendships have blossomed through Hillside and Agility, we know how distracting it can be for our pups to see other dogs. ๐๐ Our new screening aims to create a calmer, more enjoyable environment for everyone. ๐งโโ๏ธ๐พ
The Great British weather has often been unkind to our screening, but we've tackled this by reinforcing it with wood. ๐ช There's still a small section to finish with wood which will be done soon โ
We're offering a special discount to show our appreciation for your patience! ๐ Use code JULY10 when booking to get a 10% discount on any booking made in Hillside or Agility (ends at midnight on Wednesday, July 24th, and does not apply to packages). ๐๏ธ๐พ
Plus, we've got a section of 5ft screening between Agility and the driveway to Adventure that will be reattached once the natural screening (plants) starts to die off. ๐ฟ๐ค๏ธ
As always, the Hillside and Agility fields should not be used by dogs exhibiting aggression-based reactivity towards other dogs or humans. If your dog is highly reactive, please use the Adventure field for a safer and more enjoyable experience. We kindly ask that dogs are not left to jump on the screening. Damage caused by dogs jumping on the screening may incur a charge to yourself and must be reported immediately.
We canโt wait to see you and your pups enjoying this improvement! ๐ถ๐ Your feedback is invaluable, so please donโt hesitate to reach out with any thoughts or issues via email or messenger. ๐ฌ๐ฌ
Thank you for being a part of our community! ๐ฅฐ

- ๐ Provide proof of exemption and third-party public liability insurance.
- โ๏ธ Follow government regulations, such as neutering guidance.
- ๐ฅ Only the registered keeper or a prior approved person (18+) can bring the dog.
- ๐ Use a coded padlock to secure the gate.
- ๐ Keep your dog on a lead and muzzled until inside the field and the gate is secured.
- ๐ซ Exempt dogs cannot be brought with dogs from another household as per our insurance policy. Failure to comply will result in an immediate ban from Ryecroft Meadow to ensure the safety of our business.
If you have an XL Bully, you MUST contact us with proof of your exemption and insurance. If everything is in order, we will respond with the full rules/terms for banned breeds. You can email us at [email protected] with the proof attached. If you have emailed or cannot remember, resend or pop us a message to check! Important Reminder:
Regardless of breed, the Agility or Hillside fields should not be used by dogs exhibiting aggression-based reactivity towards other dogs or humans, as they may see dogs on the other side of the fence or in the car park. If your dog is reactive, please use the Adventure field only. We strongly encourage using a coded padlock for any reactive dogs, regardless of breed, for extra security and peace of mind.
Padlocks:
We only permit coded locks, such as a chain with a coded padlock or coded bike lock. Key locks are not allowed due to the risk of losing the key in the field (it wouldnโt be the first time!)
Let's ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all. Please read our full guidelines before visiting. ๐ณ๐พ

Maintenance ๐ณโ๏ธ ๐ ๐งฐ โข Filled in a hole near the permanent structure in Agility (not the first time, please avoid letting your dogs dig). โข Removed some broken wood in agility (that was my fault if anyone spotted it!๐) we will replace that ramp! โข Jump wing with a missing wing nut has been fixed, it will be put back together in there tomorrow โข More bark placed down in Hillside & Agility ready for wetter weather โข Adventure has had a cut near all the equipment, and will be weeded near equipment in the coming days โข Some of the nettles & thorns removed in Agility We have arranged for the outer section near the bank to be cut in Agility to tidy up the fence where thorns etc are coming through. You may spot someone doing that this weekend or next week. We are going to lay down wire as we have in Hillside, in Adventure to stop rabbits etc getting in and making gaps. I will update everyone when this happens! We have several other bits we want to work on or add too ๐
The importance of considering why a behaviour is happening! Watch the video, then have a read. Yesterday my GSD became really unsettled. It began with barking at many things he would never typically react to. Then he wouldn't sit still, and the back paw scratching began alongside continuous barking at random things. I have seen him scratch his front paws when making a bed but never the back. I struggled to understand why he was acting this way! After considering various theories on why this was happening out of the blue, I realised where we had just been (the river) had many fresh nettles off the track! The most common sign of pain/discomfort in animals is behaviour change. Many behaviourists accept this, but some owners can have difficulty accepting that pain could be an underlying cause. I have had so many people tell me their dog's behaviour "definitely" has no medical cause, but many behavioural issues do have an underlying medical cause. This is why a good behaviourist will request a vet check is carried out with dogs they see and will look at the dog's history and current lifestyle. When there is a chronic medical cause, the dog commonly returns to various vets or specialists before a diagnosis. Imagine I took him to this area multiple times a week/daily at this time of year and didn't consider why he was becoming disruptive and having behavioural changes; I just shouted at him and used aversive equipment for all his barking and unsettled behaviours. Though the nettles may seem obvious in hindsight, I would expect continuous paw licking/biting, but it's a good reminder that not all dogs act the same when dealing with the same issue. He's ok now, but we will definitly be keeping things chill for a few days. (Please ignore the carpet. It's an old carpet due to be removed.) Have a lovely week everyone ๐
Spaces available throughout the week and the forecast has improved ๐โ๏ธ Book at: www.ryecroftmeadow.com/book Anyone who has contacted non-urgent messages over the weekend will be responded to today! โค๏ธ
โฅ Did you know we have chicken wire in Hillside? โฅ Whyโ It has been really important to us to offer a space for tiny dogs! Thatโs why in Agility & Hillside we installed fencing with super small gaps. Then we have installed chicken wire in Hillside which helps to prevent rabbits (and other wildlife) from digging into the field and potentially leaving small gaps๐ At the same time it helps avoid dogs trying to dig there way out! (Although ๐ should always be on your dogs). The chicken wire is laid and pegged down into the ground ๐ถ We also have built up the ground and put AstroTurf down around the gateways in Hillside & Agility ๐ฅฐ So if you have a small dog and worried they can fit through normal fencing gaps/find gaps under the fence then come and try out our Hillside field! *We never gaurentee any field as โsecureโ*
๐ฟ Water! ๐ฆ We now have water in Hillside and in Agility! This means we have it in all 3 fields now ๐ Two separate taps ๐ฐ โฅ๏ธ We are shut today but we have some slots left for over the weekend when itโs cooler ๐ Monday is now looking hot though so we will keep a close eye - as usual, hot and therefore unsafe sessions will not go ahead and they will be rescheduled ๐
Pug & Frenchie Frolic This Morning ๐ฅฐ Book private hire & events at: www.ryecroftmeadow.com
