Free dog treats🤪
Free treats in Agility 😂
At the slight risk of dogs weeing on them I’ve chosen not to pick and eat these personally but blackberries are safe for dogs to eat 😁
You may have noticed we have cut back lots of brambles and the next task is to remove all this from hanging over the fencing ✅
Wind chimes 🎶
🌟 Discover the Magic of Wind Chimes at Ryecroft Meadow 🌟
🐾 Did you know wind chimes can benefit our pups? 🐾
🎶 Calming Effect: The gentle, melodic sounds of wind chimes can soothe and relax our dogs, creating a peaceful atmosphere. 💤
🐕 Environmental Enrichment: Wind chimes add an extra layer of sensory stimulation, making our facility even more engaging and interesting for your pups! 🌳
🔊 Noise Distraction: In environments with various noises, wind chimes help mask and distract from less favourable sounds, reducing anxiety for sensitive dogs. 🏡
❤️ Positive Associations: Introducing wind chimes during happy moments like playtime, will help your dog will associate the various sounds with joy and relaxation (all part of socialisation!). 🎾
And it's not just for dogs! 🌈 Wind chimes also bring a sense of calm and tranquility to us humans, turning our walks into a serene escape. 🌞

Who has a frisbee loving dog? 🥏 we’ve only just got started! 📍Agility
Maintenance 🌳✂️ 🚜 🧰
• Filled in a hole near the permanent structure in Agility (not the first time, please avoid letting your dogs dig).
• Removed some broken wood in agility (that was my fault if anyone spotted it!🙈) we will replace that ramp!
• Jump wing with a missing wing nut has been fixed, it will be put back together in there tomorrow
• More bark placed down in Hillside & Agility ready for wetter weather
• Adventure has had a cut near all the equipment, and will be weeded near equipment in the coming days
• Some of the nettles & thorns removed in Agility
We have arranged for the outer section near the bank to be cut in Agility to tidy up the fence where thorns etc are coming through. You may spot someone doing that this weekend or next week.
We are going to lay down wire as we have in Hillside, in Adventure to stop rabbits etc getting in and making gaps. I will update everyone when this happens!
We have several other bits we want to work on or add too 😁
The importance of considering why a behaviour is happening! Watch the video, then have a read.
Yesterday my GSD became really unsettled. It began with barking at many things he would never typically react to. Then he wouldn't sit still, and the back paw scratching began alongside continuous barking at random things. I have seen him scratch his front paws when making a bed but never the back. I struggled to understand why he was acting this way! After considering various theories on why this was happening out of the blue, I realised where we had just been (the river) had many fresh nettles off the track!
The most common sign of pain/discomfort in animals is behaviour change. Many behaviourists accept this, but some owners can have difficulty accepting that pain could be an underlying cause. I have had so many people tell me their dog's behaviour "definitely" has no medical cause, but many behavioural issues do have an underlying medical cause. This is why a good behaviourist will request a vet check is carried out with dogs they see and will look at the dog's history and current lifestyle. When there is a chronic medical cause, the dog commonly returns to various vets or specialists before a diagnosis.
Imagine I took him to this area multiple times a week/daily at this time of year
and didn't consider why he was becoming disruptive and having behavioural changes; I just shouted at him and used aversive equipment for all his barking and unsettled behaviours.
Though the nettles may seem obvious in hindsight, I would expect continuous paw licking/biting, but it's a good reminder that not all dogs act the same when dealing with the same issue.
He's ok now, but we will definitly be keeping things chill for a few days.
(Please ignore the carpet. It's an old carpet due to be removed.)
Have a lovely week everyone 😊
