Molly ❤️ ( Poodle ) she’s only 13 weeks old and her hair is like candy floss at the moment. We tried shaving her face which is normal for a poodle but she was a little too nervous to finish it today.
Puppy intros are to introduce them to the salon & tools we use etc so we’re not looking for perfection.
She’s so cute 🥰 and so tiny.

Did you know ant powders can still make your dog sick, even if they aren’t highly toxic? 🐶🚫
Ant powders don’t often cause severe poisoning but they can still make your dog ill!
Here are 4 common signs that your dog may have been poisoned...
1. Excessive drooling

We gave her a little break in between and her owner gave me the biggest bag of treats for her which came in very handy. 😋😂.

Suki after her De-shed ❤️ her owner likes her to have a scissor tidy around her bottom area which is minimal but gives a neater look.
If a pup wants to sniff walk for longer than the 5 minutes per month of age then they can. We no longer need to restrict the length of the walk just not subject them to certain movements like stairs and chasing a ball. But gentle walking as long as they aren’t tired is perfect!

It’s been a hot 1 today but I’ve managed to keep the heat down in my salon due to the air conditioning unit. Without this I wouldn’t have been able to work.
It’s sad to see dogs being walked in this heat so I’m sharing a reminder of the dangers.
Most vulnerable are older dogs, large, over weight dogs and dogs with health problems.
Brachycephalic dogs due to their breathing need to keep very cool so under 20 degrees in a dog grooming salon and I must stress it’s better NOT to use a neck restraint on these dogs instead use a harness type
Today I am grateful NOT to be working in clinic. No not to enjoy the sunshine, but to be away from the devastation that heatstroke still causes despite multiple warnings. I am grateful not to be battling to save lives, and witnessing unnecessary deaths of wonderful dogs who would have quite happily missed a walk today.
To all my veterinary colleagues, I just hope you do not have to see too many tragedies today. Sending lots of love and healing as it’s part of our job which should no longer be part of our job and has a huge negative mental impact.

We worry about heatstroke, and rightly so! Temperatures like we are seeing this week are dangerous for many pets.
Fly strike is another potential summer hazard. A dog with diarrhoea, especially if hairy can get a dirty bottom! And that’s how the process begins. Maggots can burrow through skin and make a pet so seriously ill. So check those bottoms and keep them clean!

I’ve just finished a webinar on the golden oldies and like us they get health problems as they get older.
We are not vets so it’s important to get as much knowledge as we can so we are not putting them at any risk or causing them any discomfort but this means at times we have to change the way we work and put breaks in between if necessary.
Groomers don’t currently legally have to do any form of training but without any they are putting these dogs at risk if I’m honest and this is why I like to know what I’m doing.
When I’m booking peoples dogs in I like to know of any health problems, behavior issues, last time they were groomed etc and will even facilitate a meet & greet to assess your dog which I’m starting to do more of so if you’re a new customer please do call rather than message as it’s easier for everyone.
I often hear “my dog had a bad experience in the groomers” but this can be due to any number of different factors. It’s not just a case of washing & cutting a dog as a lot of people think and sometimes we have to allow extra time depending on the dogs needs so obviously the price will vary with different between dogs.
