Piper ❤️ a new visitor today for a de-shed.
She was a little nervous which is understandable due to not knowing me but she did settle.
Beautiful dog and nice to have a different breed in my salon.

A day spent at the kennel club buildings in Warwickshire for an education day.
I sat in a cat grooming seminar which I’m very interested in and it’s something I’ve been looking at doing for a few years but it’s definitely not for the faint hearted as cats are different than dogs to handle and their skin is a lot thinner.
More thinking to do as there is a lot to learn.

Great News.

Great News.

The Animal Focused Alliance launched a hugely significant initiative yesterday at GroomFest 2025. For the first time pet sector businesses will be able to be identified in meeting minimum insurance requirements. The AFA Pet Pro Challenge is an initiative designed to celebrate professionalism in the pet sector while helping raise standards across the pet industry.
As an unregulated industry, pet grooming has no formal requirement for groomers to have insurance. This is a hugely important step forward, prioritising welfare and providing professional assurance to pet owners.

Any qualifications a groomer has should be clearly displayed on their wall for the public to see.
I know we always seem to look at how the dog looks (Haircut) and think that the groomer must be good.
The truth is when you attend a training school you are taught the basics of the practical side safely and then it’s up to us to improve on that ourselves.
If you have trained to a good standard then it’s the theory work behind it all that will keep your dog safe.
Health & Safety, Coshh,legislation.
Zoonotic diseases, canine anatomy.
Skin & coat care, Handling.
Animal welfare, canine first aid etc.
A Level 3 qualification is not funded and it does cost thousands which is what I have.
Any one can set up as a dog groomer without any form of training so do you think this is safe for your dog? (NO)
The training schools are not even regulated, so there are good and bad but i wouldn’t waste my time on a cheap 2 week course or any online course which a lot of people do to cut down the cost.
The whole industry needs regulation with standards in place to protect the welfare of the dogs in our care.
Sometimes we have to be honest and speak up with so many new groomers opening up now and people looking for a cheap groom.

Ever wonder what the world looks like through your dog’s eyes? 👀

They see mainly in blue and yellow - a simpler spectrum than ours, but still far from “black and white.” 🌈✨

Molly has been visiting me for from a pup and she has always disliked her face being scissored.
Today she actually did relax a bit more so we could give her face a good trim. (Her owner was tickling her belly at the same time though 😆)
She is amazing with dryers, clipping etc but her face has always been a no go bless her. ❤️
How cute does she look now?

There is only a couple of appointments left until Christmas (16 weeks ) if your on a 6 weekly schedule.
Some of my customers like their dogs to be freshly washed just before so a mini groom is perfect for this.
If you haven’t booked your appointment pls could I ask you to do so, so you get the day & time that suits you best.
Thanks Natalie.
