Introducing REMI!

Remi, a 3-year-old Staffy x Lurcher, has captured our hearts with her adorable antics. Her owner reached out to me after some concerning incidents with the neighbors, where Remi had started barking and reacting aggressively. After a thorough discussion, it became clear that Remi's reactions were fear-based, and she needed reassurance from her owners.

Instead of shouting at her to be quiet, we decided to take a different approach. When Remi started barking, we stayed calm and thanked her for alerting us to a perceived threat. And you know what? It worked like a charm! Remi responded positively and calmed down much quicker than before.

We also discussed body language signs to watch for in Remi, so her owners could intervene early when she was feeling anxious. It's a work in progress, but with consistency, Remi will learn that her owners are in control, and her fear will diminish.

Stay tuned for more updates on Remi's progress in the future. This sweet pup is on her way to becoming the best version of herself!

Meet Hugo, the charming 3-year-old French Bulldog!

His owners rave about how he's an absolute angel indoors, but when it comes to walks, he can be a handful. His main issues include pulling like a freight train on his leash and eagerly lunging towards roads.

But fear not, we've already started working on transforming Hugo into the perfect walking companion! We began by teaching him that the only way to start his walk is by remaining calm and practicing good manners. And guess what? It's already making a huge difference!

By switching up his walking gear, Hugo has become more engaged and his pulling has significantly decreased. Moving forward, we're excited to continue working on teaching him the doggy version of the green cross code and starting his recall training. This will allow him to enjoy even more freedom during his walks.

Keep an eye out for Hugo's progress as we embark on this exciting journey together!

There's nothing quite like a hound dog, right?

Well, let me introduce you to Elvis - a lovable Old Tyme Bulldog with a big heart. He's a gentle giant, but sometimes he can get a little too excited when meeting new people and tends to pull on the lead. However, his owners contacted me because his main issue is becoming reactive towards other dogs in public places like the pub garden and parks.

After evaluating his life leading up to his reactive behavior, we discovered that his frustration stemmed from not being able to socialize with every dog like he used to when he was out with his dog walker. To address this issue, we've implemented a counter conditioning program to shift his reactivity towards engagement with his owners. Over time, we expect his reactions towards other dogs to become neutral.

Elvis is on the path to becoming a well-behaved and social pup once again, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of his journey. Let's help Elvis become the best version of himself!

Meet Winston, a 1-year-old Cockapoo! His owner reached out to me because Winston had a tendency to drag her down the road during walks and would often lie down and refuse to move when he saw another dog. After assessing the situation, it was clear that Winston was feeling overwhelmed by his surroundings and needed his owner to take control.
We decided to switch up Winston's walking equipment to improve communication, and the results were immediate! Winston felt a sense of relief and began to engage with his owner, looking to her for guidance and direction. After just one session, Winston showed massive improvements. His owner can now walk him without ending up with arm ache, and her confidence has soared knowing that she can communicate with him effectively.
I am thrilled with the progress Winston has made, and I can't wait to see how much more he will continue to improve with his owner's support and guidance. Winston is a true success story, and I am proud to have been a part of his journey to becoming a well-behaved and happy pup!

Here we have Cooper, a 6-year-old Pug x Bulldog, who has a few issues that his owners wanted my help with - pulling on the lead and dog reactivity. The interesting thing is, his reactivity isn't just limited to his walks. He also reacts to dogs and other animals on TV, which has sometimes restricted what his family can watch.
We are using a program that will address these problems individually, but they will also complement each other. At the root of all these issues is a lack of fulfillment, leading to frustration. So, we have started to increase his mental enrichment to help him calm down.
Now, onto the TV reactivity. We are implementing a desensitization program by playing dogs and animals on the TV and rewarding him when he looks away from the screen. As he progresses, we will start adding a quiet cue.
After just three short 5-minute sessions, he has already started to realize that animals on TV mean good things. The great thing is that as we work on his reactivity outside, he will already have a positive association with dogs meaning rewards.
Stay tuned for updates on Cooper's progress over the next few weeks! Get ready to see some amazing improvements!

Meet Roo, a 2-year-old Staffy whose owner reached out to me with a frustrating issue. According to her owner, walks with Roo were a nightmare as she just wouldn't engage. However, when walked by her dog walker, Roo behaved perfectly.
Inside the house, Roo paid close attention to her owner, learned numerous commands, and even some cool tricks.
After discussing the problem with Roo's owner, it became evident that the issue stemmed from her handling skills. We worked on improving these skills, but to enhance Roo's engagement with her owner outside, I stressed the importance of taking the indoor training outdoors. We started in the garden, gradually increasing distractions to help Roo focus.
With the new skills Roo's owner has acquired, she is feeling confident about making progress and enjoying walks with Roo once again. The future looks bright for this dynamic duo!
