Welcome to Harlings ☺️
Harlings is a safe and beautiful location to unwind and reconnect with nature.

✅We are proud to offer both meat an

d livestock sales of our Pedigree Registered British Heritage Rare Breed animals, raised and fed the natural way, ensuring we provide quality stock and produce.

✅ Our beautiful, well maintained secure field with stunning views has been made available for both individual and group private hire, with lush Devon grass and 6-foot high small-hole fencing, in addition to a summerhouse, toilets, water and dedicated parking.

✅Each year we are able to offer a number of free Educational Nature and Environmental farm visits for qualifying groups. All visits can be correlated with an existing learning subject and/or adjusted to meet individual needs, age and ability. Our aim is to educate and inspire, in a non-judgemental calm environment, to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the countryside, conservation and sustainability.

✅Green Care refers to structured therapy or treatment programmes that take place in natural surroundings and recognise the instinctive connection between nature. Harlings has been working with various organisations to improve its surroundings and expertise, and is honoured to able to offer Green Care, both Educational and Therapeutic, welcoming people, of all abilities, vulnerability, age and mental health status to provide ‘a sense of belonging’ and feelings of social inclusion in our Experience and Therapeutic sessions.

✅ Our fully insured and licensed dog daycare is a safe, happy, kennel-free ‘home from home’ environment, offering professional, bespoke care by experienced and qualified owners. Your beloved dog can safely explore the delights of nature whilst you enjoy total peace of mind.

✅ Our newly refurbished equine retirement/full livery offers 34 acres of grazing and 9 acres of woodland. With room to roam, an abundance of grass, airy stables, a tidy yard, individual paddocks and high-quality specialist care, our beautiful livery will give your horse the lifestyle they deserve.

Today, our educational visit guests explored biodiversity by building bug hotels, learning how these small structures can support insect populations and contribute to a healthier ecosystem.

Through Shetland Pony agility, we developed communication, patience, and teamwork. Guiding the ponies through obstacles required clear signals and trust, reinforcing important interpersonal skills (and also included a pony egg and spoon race!)

Feeding and caring for animals provided an opportunity to learn about the different (and rare!) breeds we have at Harlings. We met and fed Berkshire pigs, English goats, Dorset Horn and Zwartbles sheep, Campbell ducks, Welsh Section D ponies, and our Shire horses, discussing their unique characteristics and needs.

Farm Shop, Café and Restaurant update: It’s been a while since our last update, but we’ve been busy bees! Jerry (with a special guest, Buster!) has got all the details in this update video.

So here’s the latest: the cold stores are all set up, the kitchen equipment is in place, the base floor is down, and the bar area is coming together. We’ve also had advice on electrical aspects and fire safety, and we’ve opened into the next containers to start working on the Farm Shop.

We’re anticipating opening this Spring, and we’re so grateful for all the support we have for this project, and the interest we have from all of our followers on here, and the local community. We’re so excited about opening and sharing it with you all.

What a fantastic way to start a busy March! Yesterday, we hosted our Potential Supplier Day, meeting an incredible range of producers for the farm shop, café, and restaurant. It was a pleasure to connect with both new and familiar faces, discovering amazing local products that could soon be on our shelves and menus. Even the sun decided to join us! ☀️ A huge thank you to everyone who came along to share their passion and produce! 🎨🥖📚🥧🖼️

From 1 March to 31 July, it's important to keep dogs on leads when out on , due to lambing and bird nesting season.

With lambs due on our own farm very soon 🐑 we understand just how crucial it is to keep livestock safe during this time.

If you're looking for a secure place where your dog can safely roam and run free, our private hire field offers a controlled environment (and fantastic views!). Located just 15 minutes drive from , it's an ideal spot for your dog to run freely while ensuring the safety of wildlife and livestock.

Our rates start at £6 for 30 minutes, for 4 people and 2 dogs. Find out more here: https://harlings.co.uk/product/secure-field-hire/

Over the next few days you’ll start to see these notices appearing across the moor in preparation for the start of Dartmoor’s lambing and ground nesting bird season this weekend.

Between the 1st March and the 31st July we ask that dogs are kept on leads. Doing so helps reduce the risk of harm to the livestock and wildlife that are coming to Dartmoor to make it their home for the coming year.
