I was sent some videos today. So, so impressed with Laura and Timothy.
Here's what she said: Honestly, I can't thank you enough! I'm so proud of him! We still need to practice "close" more and use it further from home. He sits excited by my side until released to catch the ball, walks beautifully on the slip lead, and you were so right about us being more fun! He still stops to watch other dogs but then brings me a toy and we play tug instead. No reminders needed! ❤️❤️ From a dog that has pulled me over countless times and dragged my ex into an actual lake on more than one occasion, I think its safe to say he's come a long way

It's been too long long since we were last on the water. Perfect conditions today.
Mental challenge. Tick
Physical work. Tick
A little bit of me and him time. Tick
I love getting these messages. For people to be proud of what they and their dog have accomplished that they let me know is a wonderful thing. Happy relaxed dog, happy relaxed owner.

I am lucky to work with some very dedicated, diligent owners who put in the hours to get the results they are looking for.
This is a little video Ben sent of the training he's doing for a competition style heel. The end goal is to stop Buster's reactivity but it will also achieve a bunch of other benefits along the way. And it is going to look really flashy in the park.

WARNING - this is a very dull video if you don't know the back story. And that's the point. No stress, no excitement. And the best testimonial I think I've ever had. So proud of what Vicki has achieved.
I am so happy to post this. Today I have been in the park with Chief off the lead for 45 minutes. He has ignored multiple dogs when I have called and diverted him and he met another dog, said a quick hello (permitted hello) then came away when I called him. He has run and sniffed and it’s an absolute joy to see. This is the fifth day of doing this with him and my confidence in both him and myself have grown enormously. We are still working on lead walking but I’m walking with a single lead now and not the waist attachment too. Thanks so much Nick for the one to one with Chief which has really helped. One proud mama 🐾

Epic video of Ranger, from out-of-control terrier to relaxed engaged walking. I am in awe of owners who persevere. #devondogtraining #plymouthdogtraining
Crufts - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
I spent a few days at Crufts this week with friends and colleagues and found it was such a mixed bag, I'm finding it difficult to form one coherent opinion. Here are my take-aways:
The Good
There were a lot of great people, owners, breeders, people selling their products, but most importantly breed enthusiasts. I loved this. And to see Stephanie Wickers and Jacqui Downs do so well with Siberian Huskies and Maremma Sheepdogs respectively was icing on the cake.
The Bad
Kennel Club obedience standards are not especially high. At times the demonstrations they were putting on looked more like marching bands with dogs than high quality obedience. Unimpressed.
The Ugly
We saw dogs winning that clearly had medical conditions. If a fluffy coat is more valuable to the Kennel Club than good hips or the ability to breath then dogs are in big trouble. The double standards of the KC talking about welfare and then selecting sick dogs as winners is just hideous. There are great ethical breeders and showers out there but the crooked few are being facilitated by the Kennel Club. We've all heard about it but to see it was genuinely shocking.

How should your dog look when you're training them?

It never gets old to get a message like this:
Hi Nick, just wanted to thank you for your advice on Sunday, Ellie has never walked that nicely! No distractions around but still, I’m not running behind her because of how hard she pulls… thanks so much!!

A few months ago I was dog sitting for some friends. Their German Shepherd happens to be blind which is possibly at the root of his reactivity. Spending a week with him was a good opportunity to play around with some training which I wrapped up into his daily play sessions. I wanted to work on his impulse control as well as his general obedience. Take a look. #blinddog #dogtraining #dogtrainingdevon #blindogtraining #plymouthdogtraining #devondogtraining
On giving dogs jobs; here's a Dalmatian doing exactly what a Dalmatian is bred to do. Looking at his body language I would say he's a very happy fulfilled boy. It's wonderful to get these videos from clients, thank you Lauren. #dogswithjobs #devondogtraining
