Hi everyone, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and happy new year!

After a lot of consideration, I have made the decision to stop freelancing from February 2024.

Thank you all for your continued support, I have met some truly wonderful people and horses over the last couple of years β™₯️

I hope you all have a great 2024 and achieve yet more wonderful things with your horses.

Becca xx

Apologies again to those I didn't make it to yesterday. It was a crazy day dealing with flooding - never quite seen anything like it! Still a few roads near me that aren't passable so it will take me a bit longer to get around for the next couple of days. Thank you for your understanding.

Slurping up a nice sloppy, soaked fibre cube mash πŸ₯Ά Frost has barely lifted all day and their water had already iced back over since de-icing it this morning ❄️

I think I found the spot!

Bringing the lovely Gloria back into work following kissing spine surgery. She tends to see me coming and hide in the hope I won't make her exercise πŸ™ˆ so I try and spend as much time doing nice things, as well as the dreaded exercise!

Fabulous day examining how to apply the 5 Domains of Animal Welfare to practical equine welfare assessment, and how to approach difficult conversations regarding equine welfare.

Yesterday was all about sand pit exploring! We did similar today to celebrate the fact that she has been with me for a whole year already! 😊

Little miss Fi went for a sniff around the barn and sand pit as all the big ponies were off eating this evening. She kept a close eye on her friends in the middle field, a couple of times we walked back to her field and came back down when she was ready to explore some more ❀️

Facebook has reliably informed my that 15 years ago I took part in my first ever show! 😱 It was at the riding school where I learnt to ride and eventually started my first horsey job. I genuinely wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't started looking after the beautiful Betty ❀️

I noticed Fi drinking from the puddle in front of the water trough rather than the trough itself this morning. The trough constantly trickles and is quite loud as it refills all the time. So, this afternoon we did some target work to get her drinking from the trough, and low and behold, it worked! πŸ™Œ Apparently you can lead a horse to water and make it drink 🀣

2 years ago today I had to say goodbye to my best friend and my absolute gem of a pony, Lady. It still brings tears to my eyes talking about her and the day I had to put her to sleep is a day I will never forget.

Losing a horse is hard, they become such a big part of our lives and it can be daunting trying to think of a time without them. But her health and welfare always came first, and unfortunately we were out of viable options to keep her comfortable, even just to be a field companion.

For anyone who is struggling with the loss of a horse and needs someone to speak to, please reach out to me, your friends, family or contact a service such as the Blue Cross Pet Bereavement service.
