⭐️⭐️ This maybe helpful⭐️⭐️🐱

As of 10th June, it is compulsory for all cats to be microchipped. All cats must be microchipped by 20 weeks of age 🐱
Owners must ensure their cat is microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks with their contact details stored and kept up to date in an approved pet microchipping database. 🐱

Failure to do some could see the owner fined £500. 🐱

⭐ Free Microchipping Event Reminder ⭐

As of today it is a legal requirement to have your cat microchipped.

Our FREE Cat Microchipping Day is in just TWO days, on June 12th, at Victoria Park Community Centre from 9:30am - 3:00pm.

This event is running on a first-come first-serve basis, no pre-booking is required. If we are very busy, we will be running a token system and provide you with a time slot to return later in the day.

See you there! 🐈

⭐️⭐️Blue-green algae⭐️⭐️

It is more commonly found in the warmer weather but can be spotted at other times of the year too 😊

Blue-green algae are most commonly found in non-flowing fresh water such as lakes or ponds during the warm weather but can also occur at other times of the year. They can float on the surface of the water or be bottom dwelling.

Exposures in animals usually occur when they drink from water bodies where the algae have bloomed. Dogs are often affected when they swim in infested water bodies or groom themselves afterwards.

Although not all species are toxic, many blue-green algae produce toxins that can have effects on different body systems. Clinical signs therefore vary depending on the toxin(s) involved, but can include gastrointestinal signs, liver failure and neurological signs.

If you know or suspect that your pet has come into contact with blue-green algae, we recommend that you seek veterinary treatment as soon as possible. Veterinary professionals can call VPIS on 0207 3055 055.

⭐️⭐️Why do I only offer solo walks/ dogs from the same household⭐️⭐️

I quite often get asked why do I only offer solo walks/ dogs from the same household and not group walks.

There are many reasons:

⭐️Not all dogs enjoy other dogs company for many reasons
⭐️Some dogs are frightened/ anxious around other dogs
⭐️Elderly dogs can find other dogs too much and just want a quiet, calm walk
⭐️Some owners would their dog/s to have one to one attention.

⭐️Walking solo dogs/ dogs from the same household, gives me great pleasure. That bond I create with a dog one on one, I feel is an extra special bond.

⭐️If a dog has a fear/ anxiety around dogs. I find quiet locations for walks where we are unlikely to see other dogs to allow them to feel safe. It's not to say we won't come across another dog. But we remain calm and change direction/ sit calmly whilst the dog goes by.

⭐️I love the dogs I care for as if they are my own, part of my family too⭐️😊

⭐️If you feel your dog/s would benefit from a solo walk. Or you know someone who may need some help. Like and share this post. I am offering dog walking again from September after my maternity leave 😊

Tomorrow night I will be sitting down for another evening of education. 👩‍💻👩‍🎓

As a pet care professional who cares for rabbits and a owner of them too. I want to be able to provide the best care I can. For the rabbits in the care and my own. I have been a rabbit owner for 25 years.

Everyday is a school day. 🏫

Look forward to updating my knowledge.

I hope it gives the owners of the rabbits I care for peace of mind that I could spot a problem with their pet should one occur. 🐰❤️

Dog owners, its set to be another sunny weekend. 🌞

As much as its great to have outside fun. Please remember that may well be too hot for walks, especially during peak times.

⭐️Hot pavements/roads can burn paws 🐾
⭐️Heat can lead to dehydration/heatstroke and heat exhaustion.

⭐️Instead of walking in the peak of the heat, choose to walk early morning or later in the evening when it is cooler.
⭐️Indoor play/ enrichment will help to keep
dogs cool, safe and comfortable.

The chart below ⬇️ is a handy guide.

BUT REMEMBER IT IS A GUIDE AND DIFFERENT DOGS STRUGGLE IN THE HEAT. ESPECIALLY YOUNG, ELDERLY, BRACHYCEPHALIC BREEDS (FLAT NOSED BREEDS, GIANT BREEDS, THICKED COATED DOGS, TO NAME A FEW. 🐕🐾

🐍 As the UK’s only venomous snake, adders can be a threat to our pets - so, it’s worth being aware of what action is needed if your four-legged friend is bitten.

Adders only tend to bite if disturbed or are scared and this most commonly happens between June and August - but given they’re out of hibernation from February to October, they pose a risk now, too.

Left untreated, adder bites can be life-threatening.

We’ve listed the first aid steps to take if your pet is bitten by an adder, but remember - URGENT veterinary treatment is required, so contact our team immediately (or a local vet if this happens while you’re away from home) and head straight to the practice for treatment.

⚠️ Dogs die in warm cars ⚠️

Sadly, even in the very short spells of warmer weather we have had over the last few days, we are already seeing the devastating effects of dogs being left in cars.

It takes only a 2-degree increase in body temperature for a dog to suffer heat stroke. Fatalities can and do frequently occur within as little as 10 minutes.

Dogs cannot regulate their body temperature in the same way humans do. Ideally, dogs should never be left unattended in a car but especially should not be left in cars with warmer temperatures, under any circumstances.

Please join us in spreading the word and help us to save lives 🐾

⭐️⭐️HOT WEATHER⭐️⭐️🔥🌞🥵

This is the forecast for the next few days.
Heatstroke/ heat exhausted is real in our pets.

⭐️Walk dogs earlier or later in the day out of the heat, if this is not possible, don't walk them.
⭐️Keep dogs in the shade and cool
⭐️Provide mental stimulation in the cool, puzzle games, brain games. 🧠

⭐️HOT WEATHER FORECAST⭐️

As we are starting to see warmer weather coming. It's important to remember the importance of not walking your dog in the heat. 🔥 🥵 🌞

Remember your dog won't thank you for a walk when it's hot. ❌️🥵

If you can:

⭐️Walk your dog early or late in the day ( if temperatures allow)
⭐️Walk in shaded areas such as woods
⭐️Keep them in the shade and in the cool
⭐️Play mentally stimulating games inside, that stimulate the brain.
⭐️Make sure your dog has access to clean water at all times

⭐️A DOG WON'T DIE FROM MISSING A WALK, BUT WALKING IN THE HEAT. BUT THAT ONE WALK IN THE HEAT COULD PROVE FATAL!!!!⭐️

⭐️⭐️Furthering my knowledge⭐️⭐️

As many of you will know, I had a little boy in January and will be returning to walks/ visits later this year.

Whilst on maternity leave, I find myself getting nap trapped by my little boy (he likes to fall asleep on his mummy), I'm sure many of you mums can relate to this.
So as I have been unable to do anything else whilst little man is asleep on me. I've decided to put this time to good use and further my knowledge, understanding and education. In the form of online courses of pet care. As many of you know I have done many courses throughout my life and believe being up to date with the most up to date information is key to being able to provide a 5 star service to my customers and their pets.

I'm a firm believer you never stop learning in life. I want to continue to provide a 5 star service when I return to walks/ visits as this is very important to me.
People trust me to care for their pets and knowing their pet carer (me) is knowledgeable in the most up to date information to care for their animals, I feel helps them to relax knowing their pet is being well cared for.

Look out for up dates on the latest courses I am studying 😊

⭐️⭐️ A HUGE THANK YOU⭐️⭐️

I've been blown away from the response of my return to work post last week. I can't thank those of you that have been in contact enough. Be it walks or visits. My diary is starting to look busy.
It means so much to me to have returning customers. It means so much that people are happy for me to return/ continue caring for their pets.
There are still a few slots available for walks, so please get in contact, if you need your dog walked. 🐕🐾❤️

My home visit/ small animal care visit availability is looking busy too, so if you have dates you would me to visit, please get in contact. 🐈🐰🦜🐠

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone on my return ❤️❤️

Are you aware of the common Easter TOXINS? 🐥🍫

Remember to keep sweet treats and any packaging or small Easter toys and decorations out of reach from your furry friends. Easter is one of the busiest holidays for vets caring for dogs who have eaten toxic substances! If you suspect your dog has eaten a toxin or foreign object over the Easter holidays, contact your closest emergency vet straight away. In most cases, vomiting will be induced to empty your dogs stomach of the toxin, and further hospitalisation may be needed to prevent long term damage☠️🤢
