For anyone thinking of getting a tracker for their dog there is an offer on the Drone SAR page where you can get a code for a free Tractive tracker. I got two for two of my dogs recently and have found them really good so far. They also do health monitoring which is really interesting. So I have just ordered two more for my other dogs with the free codes I got. You have to pay a subscription of which there are various options. I chose the premium which is £120 for two years but I just got a free year added as an extra bonus, so three years for £120. Having seen so many dogs getting lost without happy endings recently I think it's worth it for the peace of mind. One local case in particular was heartbreaking. A one year old spaniel got frightened and bolted, she has been missing since May and was recently found deceased right near where she was lost. Had she had a tracker they may well have found her that day and not had months sleepless nights and heartbreak. You always think it won't happen to you until the day it does 😥

Meet our latest Spaniel Aid foster girl Sugar who arrived yesterday. She is only twelve weeks old but her new owner "couldn't cope" with her and her brother so signed them over to Spaniel Aid after just two weeks in their new home 😥 She's a real sweetie and we are very happy to have her here until she finds her forever home 😍

My little boy has got hold of the diary and booked himself and his mates a few days away in a cottage with lots of lovely walks, so apologies if I am a bit slow in replying to any messages for the next week! We will be back to it on 17th 😀

Our lovely Spaniel Aid foster boy Loki is now looking for his forever home 😍. He's a six year old springer with some amazing spots, no issues and has been a joy to foster. He is very strong and does pull on the lead so his new owner is going to need some big 💪😂

Do you have a doggy first aid kit? Sophie who runs Animal Love First Aid is lovely and has some great kits and online courses that are worth looking at. She is also the resident Radio 2 vet so you might have heard her on the Jeremy Vine show. She is a qualified vet and very knowledgeable.

Please if you can foster we really need your help

Today we have had a record. Its not one we want but is very much a sign of the times. Today we have had 13 owner surrender requests (one for 2 dogs) and email from a vet about a young cocker about to be put to sleep due to health issues and a message from a dog wardens kennels asking for help with "a few" spaniels some of which are welfare cases.

So today alone thats a minimum of 16 to 17 dogs that if we agree to take them that will need fosterers. Yesterday was also busy and I can guess what tomorrow will bring. A few of these dogs have some issues but most really dont. Please please all of you who have applied for dogs and not been successful (purely due to the number of good applications we receive) please consider fostering. We cover all vet bills, have transporters to help get the dog to you and the best bit is that you get first refusal to adopt your foster dog. Its a win win. The dogs needing foster win and you may just find your forever spaniel in the process

No children under 8 and the dog not to be left for more than 4 hours per day are our only restrictions

Overheated animals need to be managed correctly. A vet visit is a must but YOU beginning the cooling process is an absolute necessity.

Never cover these hot animals, heat needs to escape. We CAN use cold water straight from the tap, usually best on the hairless areas including the feet.

Make sure they are able to pant freely, remove muzzles and ensure they have space and preferably a fan to deliver cool air.
