Today we had a great day at North West and Wales Foal Show.

Taking Champion Heavy Horse with our beautiful Clydesdale filly 'Cloghan Iona'.

This tremendous moving daughter of Escecraggen Ernest is from a Great American Ben Franklin daughter.

Winning the CHS Shield and qualifying for the champion of champions.

We look forward to the future with this beautiful filly.

Today was weaning and registration day for our foals.

Pictured here is our beautiful c**t foal "Thorpe Hill Viking" aka 'John'.

John is sired by Schumann's Kostolany from Skelton Eva, shown 5 times this summer and winning his class all five times, taking reserve overall Champion 4 times.

We are very pleased with the foals we're having by our current stallions.

Our foals and mares have all settled well after weaning.

'Nashes Lady Brienne'

First prize yearling and reserve jnr champion among strong opposition at another HOYS qualifier.

Unfortunately we didn't have the staff to take photos at the show as it's a school day 😅, so a home photo from yesterday will have to do.

This is the first time off the farm since her win at the North West and Wales Foal Show. This beautiful black (sun bleached) filly has great bone and action. A modern looking daughter of our stallion Schumann's Kostolany.

We are excited to introduce you to some of our Kostolany foals over the coming weeks and we have several mares scanned in foal to him again for 2025.

This big homebred filly is full of quality and was our first foal sired by Acle Valentino. She has been out four times this year taking four firsts, 2 jnr champions and 2 reserve supreme championships. All at hoys qualifier shows.

Spring is in the air today at Thorpe Hill - Clydesdales and Shires

You may remember a few weeks ago that we announced the births of 'John' and 'Spirit', well here they are today, looking a bit more grown up!

These two athletic shire c**t foals are both sired by our versatile stallion 'Schumann's Kostolany'.

There is no doubt that 'Costa' is passing on his eye-catching action and quality.

We are still taking mares in for Costa and all of our other stallions.

'Bordley House Maverick'

Our big impressive rising 2yo c**t is enjoying a little bit of spring.

This big black son of Braveheart will turn 2 in June and we are excited about his future.

Maverick has a temperament to die for and we will let mare owners know when/if we decide to open him up for outside mares.

Dam is a daughter of Cumeragh House Master

He will make a great outcross for many mares in the coming years. With his depth of body, great neck and shoulder, width of heel, perfect colour, size, bone and action, he is a great example of the breed.

Introducing our two babies so far of 2024.

Both of these babies are Shire Colts and both sired by Schumann's Kostolany.

Pictured here at just hours old on their first day, these c**ts are now a few weeks old and thriving well so far. Hopefully they can soon be spending their whole days and nights outside! It has just been too dry with us this winter to turn them out fully just yet... 😳😅.

As always the two youngest family members have named them. Ernie has named the bay c**t 'John' and Reggie has named the black c**t 'Spirit'. We think 'Thorpe Hill John' has a very good ring to it 😂.

On a professional side to our post, the father to these two is available for your mare, he has superb quality semen and is available for live cover and shipped semen throughout the UK as and when you need it.

Our two stallions, Schumann's Kostolany and Bordley House Maverick were presented for stallion approval yesterday. We are pleased to report that they have both passed.

For those unaware of the system, for a Shire stallion to be registered with the Shire Horse Society it is to be put in front of a panel of judges and a thorough vetting. This has to be done at 2yo and 5yo.

Introducing our latest arrival....

This big black, May born shire c**t foal arrived at our farm this week and we are very pleased with him! With his size, nice movement and beautiful colour we think he will be one to look out for.

Stable name 'Black Jack', we look forward to seeing this c**t grow and develop into (hopefully) a future stallion prospect!

Very well bred filly being out of a tremendous 'Metheringham Upton Hamlet' sired mare. Her sire is a very nice black stallion, 'Bodafon Jack T', a son of Manor Mac T.

Perth Foal Show 2023

After being reserve Male champion 2 weeks ago at Lanark, Thorpe Hill Ambassador went one better and took reserve overall Champion foal yesterday at Perth Foal Show.

Last year at the same show his full brother 'Thorpe Hill Reformer' won Male champion foal.

We are very pleased with this beautiful c**t and his endless qualities are there for all to see (even after his 500 mile round trip in the day).

Today we showed two beautiful home bred animals at the Lanark foal show.

First prize 2yo with our beautiful filly, Thorpe Hill Diamond.

Reserve male champion with our outstanding jnr c**t foal 'Thorpe Hill Ambassador'. He behaved very well considering he was taken off of mother just for the day.

Both of these horses are in rising condition and we believe their best is still to come.

There are no tricks in this video! Just a bag full of treats! After a tiring couple of weeks in stables and travelling 700 miles to the 'World Clydesdale Show' and back, we decided it's time for our 3 Refiner hackney babies... Sorry...Clyde babies, to go back to being horses for the winter! We think there maybe a future cart/lead horse or two in this bunch! Thanks to Jess for the video, capturing these babies running off some steam!

'Thorpe Hill Roy' Taking the red white and blue on the Jubilee. 🔴⚪🔵🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Making it a 3rd championship from 3 shows in 3 weeks. This time he was champion at Northumberland County Show. Moving tremendous with bottoms to die for. Roy is getting better and better, again beating some very nice mares along the way to his Championship win today.
