Behind today’s door, we are pleased to introduce Sam Searle - Newbridge Scientific - Laboratory Operations Manager MSc

Sam has a master’s degree in biomedical science and over 10 years of managerial experience, having previously worked in hospitality. She joined our laboratory team in 2021 and worked as a scientist and quality manager before progressing to laboratory supervisor and then to Laboratory Operations Manager. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and going travelling.

Today’s Question:
Sam was asked if she woke up as an elf, what would her name be and what highly specific task would you be in charge of in the workshop?

Perfecta McSparkle - The elf in charge of ensuring every present is wrapped to perfection and accounted for before being loaded onto the sleigh. 🎁✨

🎄 Advent Calendar – Door 1🎁

Behind today’s door, we are pleased to introduce Sara Perez DVM, MSc, CertPMP, MRCVS - Clinical Director

Sara qualified as a vet from the University of Barcelona in 1998 and has gone on to earn a Masters in Science and a Certificate in Poultry Medicine and Production. She became a director at PHS in 2016. She has consulted around the world, written articles for scientific poultry magazines and chairs poultry meetings on a regular basis.

Today’s Question:
At what point in December is it socially acceptable for mince pies to become a food group?

Sara’s answer:
“On the 1st of December — there are not enough days in the month to enjoy them! In fact, mince pies should be a social food all year round, perfect with a cup of coffee, tea or mulled wine. I’d love to see them in a variety of flavours as well as the traditional ones. I wish it was Christmas every day!”

BFREPA 2025 🐔🥚

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the PHS stand yesterday. It was fantastic catching up with clients, colleagues in the industry, and those thinking about becoming egg producers in the near future 👋🙂

Director Sara Perez along with Alistair Chilcott, Lead Veterinarian for the South West, were invited to attend the evening’s dinner event 🍽️✨. A huge congratulations to all the award winners 🎉 — especially Chippendale Foods and Nigel and Susan Smith 🏆👏

PHS at the Poultry Veterinary Study Group of Europe

Last week we attended the Poultry Veterinary Study Group of Europe conference in Sesimbra, Portugal. The event offered valuable updates on critical poultry diseases and conditions that are affecting the industry across Europe, including Avian Influenza.

Next year’s conference will be hosted in Great Britain in May, and we look forward to welcoming our European colleagues there.

Leominster team was greeted with –0.5°C, sunshine… and no snow!
Meanwhile, Sheriff Hutton is getting a dusting of snow.
It’s –3°C but sunny in Cheshire.
Edinburgh is breezy and cold (nothing new there!).
And Sutton Bonington is chilly but dry.
