Our puppy classes run for four weeks on Wednesdays from 7-8pm and run as block bookings of sessions so four puppies start together on week one and finish together on week four. Puppies can start one week after their first vaccination and must be no older than 16 weeks for their first class.

It's the start of December which means it's mince pie season and these tasty treats will be everywhere. 🧁

However please keep your canine friends away from these festive treats, as they are packed full of raisins and currants which are incredibly toxic to dogs. 🎄

Vacancy for a small animal veterinary surgeon - Birchwood Veterinary Practice - York – Gate Helmsley - Independent, family run practice.

We are looking to recruit a small animal veterinary surgeon to join our independent, family run practice based on the outskirts of York, in Gate Helmsley.
We have a purpose-built practice with a young, friendly team, with forward thinking ideas and many modern toys, with a full in house lab suite. We strive to provide outstanding care for all our patients and exceptional customer service by putting the needs of our clients first.
We're looking for a highly motivated small animal veterinary surgeon with 2 years+ experience - but would consider less for the right candidate to work with us four days a week.
As a growing practice we would like to offer the opportunity for the team player to be involved in the development of the business; using their creative and business skills to complement their clinical experience and high levels of customer service.
The role offers a generous salary (£45k to £60k full time equivalent, dependent on hours and experience) pension, RCVS fees and generous CPD allowance (certificates happily encouraged if that's something you feel you want to do). We also offer staff pet discounts, no out of hours (1 in 3 Saturday mornings) and 5 weeks paid holiday, plus bank holidays. Accommodation available if relocating to the area.

Today is World Radiography Day!

We are incredibly lucky to have a range of quality equipment to help us diagnose our clients as quickly as possible including our x-ray equipment. Having vital scanning equipment on site allows us to evaluate and make plans for treatment immediately, helping the team give the best possible care to your pets.

Dental X-rays are a great diagnostic tool to help identify hidden problems that can cause pets a lot of pain and discomfort, yet are not obvious to the naked eye. 40% of teeth problems in dogs and 60% of teeth problems in cats hide under the gingiva (the gums) - these are therefore are only found by dental X-ray. 💚🤍

We were delighted to see Jaffa who visited the Birchwood Team for his last vaccination earlier this week. 🐾

He has grown lots since his first visit, has had a smart new haircut and is doing very well with his training. ✅
