Aquatread Canine Hydrotherapy is an underwater treadmill facility, using the natural healing elements of water to help rehabilitate pets with joint, muscular conditions, weight loss or for general fun & fitness. Our Hydrotherapist is fully trained and holds a Level 4 Certificate & Diploma in small animal Hydrotherapy. The facility and therapist are fully insured and registered with NARCH the Natio

nal Association of Registered Canine Hydrotherapists. Our treadmill water is heated to the optimum 28-32 degrees which is proven to have beneficial results in the recovery process. The water is regularly sanitised and tested for cleanliness quality, we have shower and drying facilities and country walks are available nearby. Clinical recovery pre or post surgery, injury, weight loss or fun & fitness, we will work closely with you and your dog to obtain the best possible results. Hydrotherapy is proven to speed recovery after operations or slow the progression of degenerative conditions. It may be used as a pre-operative fitness regime to allow a dog to maintain condition before an operation. The aqua treadmill provides support and allows the dog to exercise its muscles while regeneration is taking place. Degenerative conditions can make normal weight bearing exercise difficult and pressure on joints and limbs may aggravate some conditions, so hydrotherapy can be used in these cases to allow the dog to exercise in an environment where there is no pressure on the affected areas. As it is possible to alter both the depth of the water in the treadmill and the speed of the treadmill, extra resistance can be provided to further promote the use of limbs and speed up the process of rebuilding muscle mass. Zeus is a champion agility dog & recently injured his paw. With Crufts just around the corner it was a tricky time of required rest whilst maintaining fitness for the competition. We had just a 3 week treatment plan! Combined of careful slowly increased land based alongside regular hydrotherapy starting with well supported walking in the underwater treadmill & increasing to lower support, higher cardio trotting.

It was important to maintain his fitness as much as possible. Without the Hydrotherapy & a considered land based exercise plan, Zeus would have faced a 3 week rest period & then straight into a high impact agility competition which could have led to further injury.

Zeus had a practice agility run at the weekend & all was looking good. 👍 🤞
