💜STAFF APPRECIATION POST💜

I thought it was time to do a post to allow you all to meet and greet my fabulous staff. Staff is probably not quite the right terminology as these girls mean the world to me and they are all the backbone of my business and each and everyone of them are unique and special in their own rights. We have experienced some serious heartache as a team and just of late, I’ve had a very tough time but they are always by my side so here goes, meet my team 💖

Pic 1 - Claire has been with me for so long, infact since she was a little girl so approximately 32 years but has worked officially for me for about 22yrs! She’s my ultimate rock with a huge heart and has had a very successful ridden career in the past and very highly placed at the horse of the year show. I would be lost without Claire as she is just the softest most kindest soul, an absolute grafter and attention to detail is second to none and she is just amazing 🥰

Pic 2 - Carol has also been here for over 15yrs! Carol has a wealth of knowledge and experience and very much a great all round gal! Carol is fun and a big softie although pretends she’s not sometimes! 😉 There’s not much that Carol hasn’t seen or done with horses and she is very treasured to us all here and I never want her to retire as she’s fabulous 🥰

Pic 3 - Lydia (who you all know!) has been with me since she too was a little girl and after a stint at Askham Bryan then took on a full time roll here. Recently due to ill health, she took some time out but she is now back with us but taking the roll of our rider and it’s so good to have her back on board. Lydia is super talented and looking forward to the future and it’s definitely onwards and upwards 🥰

Pic 4 - Izzy originally came for her work experience from Askham Bryan over 4yrs ago and she’s still here now! Although Izzy now has another job, she continues to ride here a couple of evenings a week and efficiently working on the yard and riding over the weekend. Izzy loves to improve her skills and works very hard at all she does 🥰

Pic 5 - Mia also came here for work experience from Askham Bryan a few years ago and again is still here! We are all proud of Mia taking on a degree at college as she has the drive to be very successful and love having Mia here. Mia works on the yard and also rides and seeing her skills and confidence soar like it has is so great to see 🥰

Pic 6 - Toni joined us about a year ago and is a great asset here on the yard and particularly when her son Nyx joins her, he’s a pleasure and a credit to Toni. She has a wonderful mannerism and she is very kind and easy going and nothing is never too much trouble for her 🥰

Pic 7 - Charlotte joined us over 6 months ago on a weekend. Charlotte has 2 amazing horses of her own. Charlotte is funny and such a character and love our little chats when she’s here and our banter! She also is a very capable and competent handler with all types of horses 🥰

Pic 8 - Sian joined us about 6 weeks ago and also is a dedicated and devoted horse owner. Sian is such a lovely and genuine girl and really is an absolute pleasure to have around and proving extremely amenable whether on the yard or out hacking with the girls and is really proving to be very popular amongst us all! 🥰

Pic 9 - Jodie comes in a few times a week to ride and jump horses. Jodie is super talented and very brave! Absolutely love Jodie’s attitude and ride work ethic but she’s also so lovely and genuine and feel honoured to have her as part of our team here 🥰

Also have pic 10 and 11 and feel both these fab girls deserve mentions. Angie (pic 10) is my oldest and most dearest friend and has always been chief lorry driver and number 1 foaling buddy. Angie is the ultimate salt of the earth and everyone needs an Ange is their life and I feel very lucky to call her my friend and is always here for me night and day and I will never be able to thank her enough for all she does for me 🥰

Finally, another deserved mention and that’s to Em (pic 11) who worked here for a couple of years who now is a much cherished member of staff at a very successful racing yard but still holds a special place in our hearts and when she comes to see us, always picks up a bucket or gets herself roped in! She is just a gem and we regularly chat to put the world to rights! 🥰

Meet Diamond, 16.3hh 8yr old Irish Sports horse gelding by Loughehoe Guy. Diamond is a gent to deal with and has a kind and easy nature. Diamond has previously hunted proving mannerly. He has also done xc and sj. Diamond is a lovely allrounder prospect and would excel in any sphere. What a lovely boy he is 💙

Meet our very gorgeous Pippa, 15.2hh 15yr old bay mare by Mister Law. Pippa is amazing, she’s bold, classy, responsive and the ultimate competition schoolmistress. Pippa isn’t for someone who requires a kick along as she’s light in the hand and responsive to the leg and loves to get on with her job. She is a competitive teenagers dream who wants to jump and win! Pippa hacks alone and in company and loves her job. She is a beautiful stamp of a horse, lovely mover and oozes quality. What’s not to like! 💖

Meet Troy, 15.2hh 5yr old registered Irish Draught gelding. Troy has had a very successful in hand career and was professional broken and schooled but then had time off and is now restarting his ridden career. Troy is a class horse and will excel in the show ring but now needs to continue his education and flourish. More to follow…..💙

Meet Mini, 16.2hh 9yr old TB gelding by Beat Hollow. Mini had successful KS surgery a few years ago and continued his racing career after surgery was a success.
He then has gone on to do pony club and hunt with a teenage girl. Mini has a lovely kind temperament and a lovely horse to work with and has the scope and ability to excel in any chosen field.

Coming to join us tomorrow…. Meet Dinky, 12.2hh 8yr old cob mare and the ultimate child’s first pony! Dinky is an utter sweetheart and has done her job with her little human in abundance and more. Dinky is a very rare find these days and definitely one not to be overlooked 💖

Due to a cherished long term member of staff wanting time out and change in career, I am looking for someone to take on this role. Full time or part time required. Roles to include some yard work but also to be a capable and accomplished rider to ride a variety of horses from happy hackers to sports horses with the odd few fat ponies thrown in too! Can be flexible on hours and availability but must be reliable and enthusiastic. Already established yard team who are the best people, friendly, hard working and extremely approachable. This really pains me to do, but It is with regret due to some very upsetting personal circumstances due to family ill health and from someone who I genuinely thought was trustworthy and always there for you, that I have to temporarily close the doors. I’m hoping this is something that can be resolved quickly and we can carry on business as usual. I’m hoping to be back bigger and better so please bear with me whilst I deal with my own upset as right now, I am not in the best place with myself. The last 6 weeks have been just awful and now I’ve unnecessary things to deal with and sort and just need a little bit of time to sort. Thank you for your patience and understanding, I will be back and sooner rather than later I hope! ###

Meet our lovely boy Popeye, full up 14.2hh 10yr old Connemara gelding who has just joined us today. Popeye’s breeding is known but not recorded. Popeye has been in the same home for approximately 5yrs (originally came from me!) where he has predominantly been a pleasure horse although has dipped his hooves into different activities. He is extremely genuine, sane and sensible and a type hard to find. More to follow with this gorgeous boy 💙

The highs and lows of breeding….
Time, money, effort, worry, fear, excitement and the suspense of what happens next….
To say this has been a rollercoaster is an understatement.
After weeks of 24hr watch, April 20th 2024, Tums decides at 10am Saturday morning and 360 days, that it was time to release the hostage. A beautiful big strong dun c**t foal, named Henry. Full of life and a joy. I noticed he was contracted through his carpus with the hope it would right it self, it didn’t followed by a touch of diarrhoea. Tums not herself, required washing out and then faced with laminitis. Henry still receiving orthopaedic treatment but hey ho, I’d got this….
Daisy, 3 weeks prior to foaling becomes poorly with a 40 degrees temp and a 5 day stint in ICU.
Returns home and then May 20th 2024 after a long day and night of labour, my gorgeous huge filly Molly is born after a horrific foaling and Daisy taking a very nasty turn afterwards, followed by a couple of days of being colicky, uterine infection, hematoma on the broad ligament and still being the best mum throughout all of this. Last night at 10pm with no warning, Molly takes a turn for the worse and now in the veterinary hospital.
The last few weeks have been hell on earth. Not only with Daisy, but losing my Moomin to a ruptured stomach, then Tallie a week later to reasons i can’t divulge due to not being my horse and others that have been poorly, it’s been an emotional time and absolutely exhausting. My vets are amazing and worked tirelessly with me throughout with not just the mares and foals but the rest of the crap we are dealing with.
But then you always get that one person who feel the world revolves around them and you need to answer to their demands. Well I’ve news for you sunshine, you can wait!
Being in horses is so rewarding but can also be so draining and heartbreaking. I don’t know what I’ve deserved to have all this heartache 💔
Want to say a big thanks to Claire, Lydia, Angie, Jo and a few more I’ve failed to mention for all their huge support these last few weeks xx

💖💖 Welcome to the world special girl 💖💖

For what has been an absolute emotional rollercoaster of a ride with Daisy being so poorly and up in ICU only a few weeks ago, then to have being dealt with a traumatic birth, we welcomed this gorgeous huge filly into the world. Angie, Lydia, you have been truly amazing this evening and I couldn’t have managed (or emotionally coped!) without you. Claire, for your forever support, I know how emotional you felt tonight and a massive thank you to Jo Garnett who was at the end of the phone throughout, you’re a superstar 🌟 and to the awesome Joe Mackinder from Rainbow Equine Hospital for his swift response and arrival and for calming the waters and taking such good care of Daisy in particular.
I’ve waited 12yrs for a filly again and it felt bittersweet that 2 weeks to the day today since we lost my little Molly Moomin, before she heartbreakingly passed away, I whispered to her to send me a filly and tonight at 10.30, my wish came true. Seems only right that a fitting tribute should be made…. Everyone meet Molly 💖💖

We here see many horses pass through our doors, whether sales, rehab, schooling, holidays etc, and they become our family. Each and everyone of them all have their special qualities but some hold a stronger place in your heart and Tallie was just one of those horses. She was kind, sweet, easy going and never a problem but the last 72 hours have been tough and hard to comprehend how precious and fragile these beautiful souls are.
Tallie was blessed with having the most wonderful owners and nothing was too much trouble for them and they gave everything they had to their horses. But tonight after long and heartfelt discussions between us both and my amazing vets, we all had to say a heartbreaking goodbye to this beautiful girl. A decision that has rocked us all but owning a horse takes guts to know when time is against you but the right time for our horses. We are all reeling from such another devastating loss but I feel privileged to have shared a part of Tallie’s journey in life and being with her until her last breath. RIP beautiful Tallie, fly high sweet angel 💔 😢 🌈 💔 😢

I was there when you took your first breath and there with you when you took your last. 21yrs of loving you, a lifetime of missing you. I am reeling with how fast you have been cruelly taken away tonight. Moomin, you have endured so much in your life but you have fought and won so many battles but tonight you faced a battle that couldn’t be won. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to you for every day we have been a family, for all the love and joy you have given us all and for all the times we have laughed and we have cried. Sleep tight my very special little girl, no words can describe the void you have left in so many hearts. Tonight I tried so very hard for you and tonight I couldn’t save you. I felt everything you tried to tell me tonight and how you looked for me and cradled your head into me, you spoke, and I listened and felt everything…. I Love you so much Moo, may you run free, until we meet again 💔💔💔

Nothing is perfect and sometimes all good things come to those who wait and this is the case with our gorgeous Tallie, 15.2hh 11yr old mare.
Tallie has had a lot of inconsistency in her work through absolutely no fault of her own or that of her fabulous family since approximately October time but sadly when Tallie came to us here, although was so honest and genuine, we had concerns of her way of going the more we did with her and she was showing reluctancy to go forwards although still trying her heart out.
With speaking in depth with her family, we all agreed that we all owed it to her to be looked at and investigated by the vets and got her in with a specialist orthopaedic vet.
Tallie was thoroughly examined, having her back X-rayed and investigation into her sacroiliacs. Tallie doesn’t have KS, although you could argue she has one that is very slightly closer but is NOT KS. What was addressed and discovered was her weakness and discomfort in her Sacroiliac joints and she has had both sides medicated which theoretically is a one off medication as well as a one off injection into one area of her back. Tallie lacks and needs to build up her top line so would benefit from lots of ground work and time (I have an exercise plan recommended by the vets and sent to me so happy to share.)
Tallie so deserves a chance with someone with time and knowledge who will allow Tallie to flourish and develop good muscle and top line and go from strength to strength as time will be a great healer and someone will have a very nice quality horse who is very well schooled and dressage trained, for a fraction of her worth.

Tallie is the sweetest natured girl and is easy to look after and work with. Thank you for taking the time to read 💖
