It's time to go now ❄️☃️
While everyone else looks down over/off the moors is normal we resemble an ice staking rink
On plus side new bedding day for some of the mares...gotta to love fresh shavings. Girls happy to approve when they came in👌

Like everywhere we're battling on through freezing temperatures ice & snow
Livestock (sheep/belties/couple of horses) that are living outside coping well, have plenty of hay/haylage keeping their tummies full providing energy/warmth.
Stabled horses are still getting out daily for a good leg stretch taking our time to get them over icy yards, girls looking 'epic' in their The Big Horse Shop rugs when they come back in
Big shout out to our farrier Jason Richardson who got here having to leave his van & walked down... dedication at its best 💪👌
Finally we wanted to say a thank you to each & everyone one of you that has commented, sent personal messages in regards to Duchess, its meant the world to us🌍
We thank all the team at Hambleton Equine Clinic for making her final days comfortable, their support & the card we received in the post, its never easy for vets/staff that have that outcome.
Can't tell you the hole thats in our hearts 💔😪 the day after she passed we had a robin sat on the yard all afternoon & a message from Harriet who has her daughter who spookily the same day also had a robin sat on Lilys door.
A sign from Duchess to maybe let us know she was at peace & ok with her foal🕊

Merry Xmas to everyone, hope everyone has a good one and has time to relax 🎉🎄🎅
Instead of cards we have again this year supported the cash for kids appeal & bought an extra present or 2 for children in need.
Thank you to everyone who had been part of journey past present and future🥰
Eat, drink be merry, we'll see you on the other side 🤣😘

Yesterday saw a visit from another apart of our extended team Dr Lee Clark-Physio to give some of the horses a look over going into winter. Great to see him as always👌
What is makes Lee qualifications stand out?
The term ‘Physiotherapist’ is a protected title when used on its own, if the same word is prefixed with another word such as ‘Animal’ or ‘Veterinary’ then the title is no longer protected.
Meaning anyone can use the term ‘Veterinary Physiotherapist’ or ‘Animal Physiotherapist’ without attaining any qualifications at all.
The longest & most intensive route is to become a ‘Human’ Physiotherapist first by completing a 3 year BSc (hons) degree in Physiotherapy. This gives the status of “Chartered Physiotherapist’ which is protected title. Then required to practice on people for a minimum of 2 years which consolidates all of the techniques & technology that will be needed to treat animals.
The final stage of qualification is to complete a 2 year post graduate diploma / Masters degree which will also give you membership to ACPAT (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy).
A Chartered Physiotherapist & an ACPAT Veterinary Physiotherapist will have done a minimum of 7 years training and is highly qualified to treat both horse and rider.
Take that with all the experience Lee brings with him:
Certified by Kinesio UK, Part of the physio team for the London Olympics, several times at the world equestrian games, taught all over the world to name a few
We know and trust our horses are in the best of hands
Then a special delivery made me well up from Hopes new mummy 🥹💖 so very kind thank you and thank you for loving her like we do🥰

Today proves what a ⭐️ this filly is.
It's wet & windy, Hope walks out of the barn, stops looks at her new wheels (3.5t never been in one) and walks straight in and starts eating 🥰
Another proud moment as another baby leaves the nest 🥰
shes gone to the best of best homes, we wish her new family the best of luck with 🍀 look forward to watching them grow together as a team & welcome them to the 'Moor Houses Family'
Huge thank you to MBM Horse Transport for an excellent service contacting us yesterday to confirm details, on time and a professional service. Safe Travels 🚛

When we say we have a great team behind us this is what we mean...
Dedication from our yard dentist Dan Astle-Carter of Hollin Equest Equine Dentistry Ltd on one of coldest days of the year to come & treat our horses (and liveries).🥶🥶
Of course one good deed deserves another with a hot chocolate cake fresh out of the oven and bacon sandwiches for lunch 😋
Dan was last here in Feb, it is important to have your horses teeth looked at once or twice a year (more if needed).
Zara one of shire mares was a prime example in Feb her mouth/teeth were behind in maturity for her age (3yrs) with alot of baby teeth/caps still in tact 🦷
Fast forward 8/9mths she has lost 6 Molar caps, 6 Incisor caps & a wolf tooth Dan also removed 2 Molar caps & Incisor cap while he was here.
It goes to show while a horse may look mature on the outside inside can be a different story.
It's also good for youngsters to have the gag on a little wash out have a good 1st experience setting the foundations for future visits.
It is important to use a equine dentist with the right qualifications/registrations. Dan is a member of the British Association of Equine Dental Technicians
If your looking for a dentist in your area you can find them on here
Yesterday was a farrier day for some of the yard and taking the opportunity to give them a tidy up mane pull ears trimmed out etc
The 2 weaned foals have been enjoying the fold yard with other youngsters.
Today the beautiful Polly leaves for her new home where she is already loved and adored. To make the transition this morning easier we moved her back up to the main yard leaving Hope with Charlie, Jazz, Zara and Emma.
To keep her company we brought Ginny and chance up who were very happy to oblige. Safe to say she was chilled happy foal she always is

What a day at Cannon Hall Farm Christmas Cracker sale conducted by Harrison and Hetherington
Connor and I set off leaving Adrian and Nathan at home and ventured out for a mother and son day.
So proud of Connor 1st time bidding on & buying some sheep, yes they are not 100% perfect with slight over markings but like alot of things you can have correct markings & throw a mismark and mismarked and correct makings 🤷♀️ 🤞 for lambing
Importantly connor has paid for these through hard work and dedication (and a bit of an early xmas present from us 🤣) we are very pleased with them and we welcome Cannon Hall Jezebal (in lamb with twins) and Cannon Hall Jasmine (in lamb need to confirm single/twins) to his flock bringing in some different lines with Prendwick and Deepdale
Lovely to catch up with some of the Northern Valais crew Poplar Farm Valais Blacknose and Bramham Valais Blacknose Sheep 🥰

Can't beat the start of a new day with new life👌1st time mum with a bull calf.
Note to self the calving jack is no good down at the in laws when we have cows due. 😬🙈
Health & safety risk carried out the nearest thing to hand was grabbed (do not try this at home🤣) when we needed to help get the calf out in a hurry. Mum/baby doing well ✅️
The rest of the day spent docking ewes out, worming & giving bolus ready for the tups joining them, this included Connors valais blacknoses. Jackpot is keen for a few dates 🤣
Some time also spent with foals going over few bits of groundwork ahead of weaning this week when once settled Polly & Hope will be off to their new homes 🏡
A beautiful day in the sun🌞 don't forget clocks go back tonight 🕑
