North Yorkshire Cat Centre

North Yorkshire Cat Centre We are Cats Protection North Yorkshire. For cat advice, call the cat centre on 01904 760356 or email: [email protected] Cats come to us for many reasons.

Like all Cats Protection Centres we work tirelessly to improve the lives of unwanted, abandoned or stray cats & kittens by finding them loving new homes. Until new homes are found cats and kittens are cared for at our Adoption Centre. We operate under strict guidelines to ensure the health and wellbeing of all cats and kittens in our care. In York and the surrounding area we re-home unwanted, aban

doned or stray cats. We can usually guarantee we will be full to bursting point, especially when kitten season gets into full swing. We actively promote neutering of all cats and offer advice to cat owners on all aspects of cat welfare. We aim to educate cat owners about the many benefits of neutering and dispel the popular myths which exist. We can assist people on a low income by providing a neutering voucher to reduce the cost of neutering their cat. We endeavour to manage the population of feral cats in our area. We have cat traps which we make available to the public (for a small deposit) for the purposes of trapping, neutering & returning to site (T-N-R). By doing this we hope to control the local feral cat population and ensure they are healthy. We have an extensive range of Cats Protection Cat Care leaflets and can also offer advice to cat owners. Our advice is not intended to be a substitute for professional veterinary opinions and you should always have your vet's contact details available.

We've had a lovely little update from our former resident Tadpole who's now called “Lily”. Her owner tells us that after getting her home she took no time at all to get settled in! She comes to me for a fuss and then potters off to explore a bit more, then has a sleep by the side of me. Here's one of her looking extra cosy enjoying one of those many cat naps! 😻

We've had a lovely update from a shyer pair we had in our care back in December, Giddy Aunt and Jeez Louise found the centre environment quite unpleasant and would spend a lot of their time hiding away. But just a week on from them coming home, they're new owner told us that the kitten and his mum have been settling in nicely.

'Kit regularly curls up next to me, and his mum has been coming out more and more and increasingly accepting cuddles, and playing. Last night, while Kit was on my lap, she approached the settee, jumped on for the first time, and curled up on my lap too, where he began to feed! They're a real delight -- thank you again for matching us!'

Our shyer residents are all too often overlooked whilst in our care so it's always lovely to see how the right environment can turn things around for them make all the difference! 😻

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful people who have brought us donations over the past few days, the cats who are with us over the festive period are incredibly grateful for all the toys and yummy treats that have been brought in and the staff and volunteers are very thankful for the yummy treats that have been brought in for us too! Here's the amazingly handsome Portly who is utterly thrilled with his new Crimbo blanket! We wish all our supporters a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year 🎅

Anybody remember Lil'Hoody? Well here she is thoroughly enjoying her new home! And it looks like the Christmas tree is safe too, at least for now...
Her owners have called her Lily and they absolutely adore her! We all feel the same here, I mean what's not to love! They said, 'She settled in with us straight away and appears very happy and content. We’re so happy she’s part of our family.' We're thrilled to have this update especially as this lovely little feline did a good stint with us here at the Inn! Have a long and happy life little lady! 😽

We've had a wonderful update from one of our former residents the very fancy Sasha Velour! He’s now renamed Caesar and from the evidence sent over it looks like he took no time at all to check out the entirety of his new palace and has truly made himself right at home! His owner says, 'I’d say he’s fully settled in, literally rules the house, and wants constant attention and fuss...He has such a great personality, he’s enjoyed any visitors over the last week, loves fuss or a brush from anyone! Love having him here, not sure I can quite imagine life without him now, he’s a legend!' That you are Caesar, that you are! 😻

We've had another lovely update this time from a pair of fluff balls we homed back in November! Formally called The Jacks & Fluthered this brother and sister duo now go by the names of Merry & Pippin! Their new owners said, 'We thought we would let you know that the kittens are very settled and ruling our home already. After losing Greebo we had a huge cat shaped hole and these two are just what we needed.' It's so good to see these two enjoying their new home and family together and that they are still an inseparable pair! 😻
