Care shelter for protection of stray or injured animals in the area of Gouves, Crete. Καταφύγιο για την προστασία αδέσποτων και τραυματισμένων ζώων στις Γούβες. The base can be found,between Gouves and Kokkini-Hani,on the old national road, just follow the signs to the aquarium. If travelling by public transport get off at bus stop number 9.

Το καταφύγιο βρίσκεται στην παλιά αμερικάνικη Βάση, στι

ς Γούρνες Κρήτης. Μόλις 100 μέτρα από το ΕΝΥΔΡΕΙΟ.

Η Βάση βρίσκεται ανάμεσα στις Γούβες και το Κοκκίνι Χάνι, στην παλαιά εθνική οδό. Μπορεί κάποιος εύκολα να το βρει απλά ακολουθώντας τις πινακίδες για το Ενυδρείο ή αλλιώς απλά να κατέβει στη στάση 9, αν χρησιμοποιεί λεωφορείο.

Huge thank you to our friend Saskia, Bert and the animal supplies store in Germany, Futterhaus Kerpen 🩷

Over the Christmas period, for one more year, we had the amazing support of our German friends who went above and beyond trying to collect donations for the streets animals of Crete and the animals in gouves shelter. Every client of the store had the possibility to choose what to donate to our shelter and everyone was so generous! The goodies are on their way to the shelter, and we cnnot thank enough Futterhaus Kerpen for hosting this beautiful idea, and also Saskia and Bert for all their hard work!

Thank you our friends! The Christmas spirit will last a little longer thanks to all of you!

Meet Lima, a strong, energetic, and playful girl who’s been waiting far too long for her forever home. She arrived at the shelter in 2021 and has spent years watching other dogs come and go, always hoping it would be her turn next.

Lima is full of life and loves staying active. She enjoys long walks, playing, and being engaged with people who can match her energy and confidence. She’ll thrive in a home that understands her strong, spirited nature and can give her the activity and structure she needs.

While she can be introduced to other dogs, it’s important to ensure it’s the right fit. She’s not suitable for homes with cats and hasn’t been tested with children or other animals yet. Lima is ready to leave the shelter behind and start a new chapter with someone who will cherish her.

Lima’s current needs:
🐾 Yearly blood tests: 50€
❤ Most importantly, a loving family to give her the home she’s been waiting for.

She spent time in a foster home to safely receive her vaccinations, but now she’s back at the shelter, waiting for her forever home.

Hera is a sweet soul who needs patience, love, and care to build her confidence and step out of her shell. She’s ready to start her journey to a brighter future, and with the right family, she’ll flourish into the loyal and loving companion she was born to be. Thank you kind hearted people for keeping the stray animals fed!

❤️Today we want to thank all of you individuals for donating to PayPal, bank account and organizations and friends across Europe that support us, any amount to help us buy food for our shelter and street animals after our post. We are very greatfull to each and everyone of you ❤

🩷We also want to thank Petra for helping us buy special food for Trios our boy with urinary issues, Anouk our girl with skin allergies and puppy food for our babies in foster care and everyone that donates through Tikkie from Netherlands to Sylvia.

💙We owe a big thank you to Silke who donated generously for Christmas and covered all the good quality puppy and kitten food we desperately needed.

🧡Additionaly we want to thank our steady supporters Tessera Pfoten from Germany for helping us buy 30 bags of dog and 10 bags of cat food, our friends from the Netherlands of Until they all have a home for helping us buy another 40 bags of adult dog food and 10 bags of cat food and the amazing organization Kretahunde from Denmark for donating 15 bags of good quality puppy food.

💚We would also like to thank the American organisation Greater good charities that donated a very big amount of dog food to many rescues all over Greece. Our shelter was amongst them and we received this help with great gratitude. Thank you also to the organisation Zophoros from Heraklion and the Panhellenic federation of animal welfare for organising the transportation of this donation from USA to Greece and then to Crete and to our shelter.
