February is a special month in animal welfare, as it is the Spay and Neuter Awareness Month, an opportunity to remind pet owners to consider the welfare of their animals and take responsible actions to prevent unwanted litters.
This is the month when many cats are getting pregnant bringing their first litter very early. Many females will have even three litters each year. Getting the cats sterilised in February is the best solution to help our furry friends 🐾🐈💞
💞 Thank you all who support the sterilisation programs around the island. Corfiot charities and volunteers are doing an amazing job caring for the cats and running constant sterilisation programs 🙏

✅ Three cats have been sterilised this afternoon. They are doing well and are kept warm overnight.
💞 This was possible with thanks to your donations.
From Psará and Chlomotiana village. One female was also pregnant, early pregnancy 🙏

The donations are at their lowest this time of the year, especially now, when it is a good opportunity to get some cats sterilised to avoid more kittens being born to suffer 😔

❄️🤧 Due to the cold weather the sterilisation is postponed for the next Friday, the 24th of January.
Sadly, we also are low on funds for sterilisation 😞
We hope until next Friday some donations will come in, so we can continue to get a few cats done 👍✅

More cats were treated and sterilised this week.
🐾 One boy with an infected paw. He got his paw treated and also got sterilised.
🐾 One boy and one girl from Kritika village, South Corfu, got sterilised too.
🐾 Also from Saint George South, one young stray female got spayed. She joined her colony.
🐾 Our resident cat, Marley, has gum disease and he needs his monthly shot of antibiotics to help calm his pain and be able to eat 😞
They will all be much better soon 🙏

We know we're in the middle of the winter and times are hard, but we need to ask for your support to feed and medicate the cats in our care. The cold weather makes them eat A LOT right now 🙈🤦

▶️ Friday sterilisation results.
Four cats were sterilised today. Two males and two females. We had five females scheduled but two were sneezing and have a light flu. Once recovered they will be sterilised too 👍
