Today at the shelter 🐾❤️🐾
Athos
Our new dog Athos is much improved and has now moved from Stavroula’s flat to the shelter. Whilst he was with her he was the perfect house guest. Thank you to everyone who donated to helping this lovely boy he really has such a wonderful nature. The capacity of these dogs to still show so much love despite the way they are treated never ceases to amaze me. Also on the video some of our other dogs. How much they love to see Stavroula when she arrives. They will all get a nice run and play out of their kennels when the cleaning starts lots of love and attention. Thank you everyone for supporting our dogs
Athos
Athos chilling. Keeping cool on the floor at Stavroula’s flat. She says he is an adorable boy, good with her young daughter, calm in the house apart from in the kitchen where he constantly looks for food. Who can blame him he has probably spent most of his life hungry. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It’s so very hot
Greece is once again in the grip of a heat wave. The dogs are struggling. The older ones even more so and fears they will struggle to make it. There is no play time for the dogs they just want to find shade wherever possible whilst out of their kennels.
Can we help this poor dog.
It is a very difficult time for Elpida.
Stavroula has tried so hard to not take in any more dogs. It breaks her heart every day. But this poor old boy pulled at her heart strings. He has served his time for a hunter and now he is sick and old he is just abandoned to die.
His life would have been hell kept mainly on a chain when he was not out hunting yet he loyally serves until he has no more use. He would willingly go back to his owner and serve till his dying breath but he’s not strong enough he has outlived his usefulness so like rubbish he is thrown out to die.
We would like to help this boy and show him some love and comfort for his last years, but without your help we can’t help.
If anyone would like to donate a small amount to help this boy find some comfort and show people do care Stavroula would be so grateful
Thank you

Here we have the gorgeous Darko playing with Nikos. He is a great big lump of clumsy playfulness. A beautiful boy with a desperately sad background. He is now nearly 12 but has spend the majority of his life chained up in the council tip. The other dog who was chained with him died, leaving Darko alone. They had been chained up together since being pups. Stavroula visited Darko but the owners wouldn't allow her to set him free. He became sick and old and because he was of no use to them, they allowed Stavroula to finally take him. The very hard life has taken its toll on him health wise but he is happy and safe to live out his days at the shelter. Look at him play.
Later on in the the video you can see the playful pups Ruby and Stavro. They are both growing at an enormous rate. Ruby may be lucky enough to have a home but Stavro is still looking. The sad thing is that the longer they are left, the longer life in hard conditions continue. It isn't fair, and we one day hope they will all have a fairytale ending.
Application form is here in case anyone wishes to make an enquiry http://www.elpidashelterdogs.com/application-form.html or please do message us. Other shelter dogs are here on Facebook

Poor Pavlina had to go to the vets this week. She already has a pronounced gait, and she limps everywhere but she just wasn't right, so Stavroula rushed her to the vets. Bloods were taken but they have come back fine. So its back to the drawing board to try and find out what is wrong. She does already seem brighter.
Don't you wish they could speak?
Here's wishing Pavlina get well wishes.
We will keep you posted.
Thanks for liking and sharing.
Hello from the Shelter.
A little glimpse into a good day. A good day to share because it isn't raining, it isn't too hot (yet), there is no snow and the dogs are happy.
Here are Josie and Baxter having a little play together.
Although they will always be better in having a home of their own
its nice to share the happy times too.

Stavro and Ruby 😍
Stavro and Ruby had a trip to the vets today. Ruby wants to stay close and is comforted by Stavro.
Ruby is getting her vaccination, Stavro is having blood tests to check his health.
These two gorgeous dogs would love to find families of their own.
Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about adopting.
Please share, let’s get these lovely dogs loving homes.
Ruby and Stavro.
Stavro (7 months old) is so happy to finally have a playmate in Ruby (12 weeks old). Although she doesn't seem as happy as him! Sounds to us that she will be the boss!
We do not want a life in the shelter for them. They need to be growing up in a family.
Once all blood tests have been completed, both (fingers crossed) will be available to home.
No obligation application form is below. We will happily call / message you for any information you require.

Draw to name our new pup.
Thank you so much to everyone who donated towards the vet costs for our new pup.
Once we have had her bloods done and the results back we will update everyone, but we can report she’s is doing really well and made a lovely buddy with our loveable gentle giant Stavro.
All of the names of the people who donated were put into the draw and Peppa picked a few out and we selected one of the names at random.
Ruth Bond congratulations you will be naming our new pup.
All you big dog lovers out there Stavro and our new girl will be looking for families of their own very shortly. Please get in touch if you would like more information on either of these gorgeous dogs.
Thank you once again all our amazing supporters
First of all, we doggies at the Shelter, want to thank you for all your support this year. We literally would not be here without you!
We've had some great support and some fantastic donations (thank you, thank you, thank you ❤️) but just wondered if you might help & buy us a Christmas dinner this year? We know things are tight but if you could give what you can, every penny will be spent on us, the dogs. (& a few cats 🐈).
Thank you all so much, we are so very grateful.
We wish you all a very happy & peaceful Christmas. 🎄❤️🐾🐾
( Pay details at top of page) .
As we get closer to Christmas all our shelter dogs would like to take this opportunity to wish all our supporters the very best Christmas. Without you we would not be able to continue our work keeping our dogs safe and fed. You are all amazing ❤️🐾
Never give up hope. We never stop searching for the right home to come along for our dogs. Archie waited for six years. We have so many other dogs who are just waiting for the right person to come along. ❤️❤️❤️❤️. In the meantime our wonderful supporters keep our dogs fed and cared for whilst they wait for that special day
Stavro update
We are happy to let you know there has been some improvement in little Stavro
This video was a couple of days ago where he is attempting to walk.
He has continued to improve and is now able to stand longer and move better.
With Stavroula’s love and care little Stavro is making good progress.
We hope that he continues to improve and once his treatment is finished he may still be able to leave for his foster home, just a few months later than we hoped.
Thank you to everyone for keeping this lovely pup in your thoughts. ❤️
Hope wanted to pop on to say a great big thank you to everyone who donated to buy her a ticket on the happy bus. She now has her ticket paid for and thanks to your generosity we have sufficient funds to pay towards buying a ticket for another lucky pup. Watch this space for news on who else might be taking a place on the happy bus. THANKS AS ALWAYS. The best supporters ever ❤️❤️❤️
