A really great happy ending..

Many of our supporters will remember the story of the male cat that arrived at our shelter in early September. He had suffered a horrible road accident and his lower jaw was severely broken.

After an emergency operation at the Samos vet, his lower jaw was "wired" together and he could only eat liquid food.

Now eight weeks later, his wire has been removed, he is sterilised, vaccinated and enjoying a full happy life again. We have also been approached with an offer of a forever home which is the most perfect happy ending. He will be called "Mr Darcy".

An alternative way to support our work...

We are aware that some of our supporters don't have access to the PayPal donation system - so why not consider a more direct way to help our day to day work. A cat food order!!

Orders placed at zooplus.com (it must be .com and not .de or .nl etc) can be delivered directly to Samos in about 10 days. Simply go online, buy and pay for cat food of your choice and add our delivery address....

Meet Mr Truffle... again!

Many cats and kittens arrive at our shelter in Samos in very poor condition, especially with eye infections and cat flu. Our volunteers work every day to give medication, care and attention to help recovery so a cat can go onwards to a better happier life.

On such sweet boy is "Mr Truffle" who arrived with us on 9 June from the village of Ireon, Samos. His right eye was severely damaged from feline herpes virus.

Now five months later, he has made a full recovery, sterilised and fully vaccinated. He has no sickness anymore and is happy and healthy. Next summer we will offer him for adoption to a forever home in Europe.

Last few days for visiting at our shelter...

Our summer season for visiting comes to an end on Wednesday 25, this week. We will not be open in the afternoons after this date.

Emergency kitten....(Graphic content).

This sweet female kitten aged about 9 weeks was brought to our shelter on Monday after being found in Pythagorio, Samos. Her back right leg was severely injured and the bone was protruding from an open wound.

On Tuesday, she had an emergency operation with a vet to fix and close the wound and ensure the bone was inside the knee joint and the skin stitched and closed again.

She is doing very well and will stay on painkillers and antibiotics for some time during recovery at our shelter.

Another day... another adoption cat...

Meet "Fien" who arrived at our shelter on 12 July after being found at the illegal immigrants camp in Samos. She was a young kitten who suffered a bad time and abuse at that location, so we agreed to rescue her from any further suffering.

This morning her life changed forever as she flies to Amsterdam to a wonderful forever home. We are delighted.

A tabby cat boy and a kind policeman...

This sweet tiger boy arrived at our shelter yesterday after visiting the Samos vet. He suffered a bad road accident in Mytillinii village, Samos. His lower jaw was badly broken.

Luckily, a kind Samos policeman found him after the accident and took him straight to the Samos vet. We organised for his jaw to be "wired" and for him to be castrated.

His wire will stay in place now for many weeks while recovery continues. During that time, he can only eat very soft food. He will stay in our hospital area at our shelter.

I'm a cute orphan....

Our shelter is currently home to around 25 orphan kittens from various parts of Samos, with another 10 in foster care with our own volunteers.

As you can imagine, they need a lot of care and our attention, with medication, cleaning and extra kitten food. This is a big strain on our donations, and your support is vital to them growing up happy and healthy.

Meet Howard.... again!

Many of our supporters will remember the story of the tiny male kitten that arrived at our shelter from the village of Ireon, Samos on 20 May with a severe infection in both eyes.

Now just over three months later, he has grown into a happy healthy boy. Sadly, his infection was so bad that we couldn't save his eyes and he has had an operation to remove and "close" both eye areas. He now weighs 2.5kg and has no further health issues.

He very active and joins our gang of fully blind cats (his face was dirty this morning after breakfast!!).

We posted yesterday about the happy ending for our big boy Bernard who arrived very very sick at our shelter on 11 June.

Here he is at home taking his place on "his" sofa in Brussels last night. This photo makes our daily work extremely rewarding and worthwhile, especially when remember him how he was looking a few months ago. ❤️❤️

Bye bye Bernard...

Many of our supporters will remember the report about the adult cat we rescued from a well known beach bar in early June.

After a few months of very intensive care at our shelter, he made a great recovery, doubling his body weight and becoming a very happy cat again.

This morning was the day he flew to his forever home in Brussels, Belgium to a very good home where he will be spoilt and given a perfect future.

On the day we rescued him in June, we never believed this would be even possible as was so very very sick.

New Arrival....

Found yesterday in Samos Town by a local couple, this tiny kitten has not had a good start in his little life. Suffering from cat flu, eye infections and bad diarrhea, he needs our help.

Aged about 3.5 weeks, he doesn't yet have the power to eat alone yet. Please pass on all your hopes and prayers for his future.

Warning graphic content....

We had many messages during the last week about a male cat in Kokkari, Samos with a nose "injury".

Yesterday, our volunteers found the sweet boy and brought him to our shelter. Very sadly, this is advanced skin cancer and no treatment is available to cure his condition. However, he will stay in our care where we can monitor his condition and give him some love and care until the day arrives where his cancer is too advanced and he will have to make a final visit to the Samos vet.

Although a happy ending is not possible, we will now give him all the love and attention he deserves rather than suffering on the streets.

Happy Easter Sunday from Samos! The rescue cats at our shelter are in a happy mood as it's "sweet shop" time....some tasty treats to get their day started. The sound of the first packet opening sends them crazy as you can see..but don't worry there was plenty for everyone later.

When you are an orphan and you just want to sleep with your friend (who has a lovely "heart" marking). But those naughty volunteers wake you up as you are too cute......

We don't normally ask for help unless it's really needed, we prefer to keep our supporters updated with news and updates. However, these last weeks have seen a significant number of new orphan kittens arriving at our shelter in Samos. These five arrived on Thursday after the mother cat was sadly killed by a car. We now have 17 orphans so early in the season. They are all doing well. We would like to buy them extra supplies of Royal canin baby milk powder with your help. Little Jake Enjoys "Tickle Belly"

Little Jake has been with us 10 days now...today he enjoyed his favourite game of "Tickle Belly"....sweet Jake who has been promised a forever home in Sweden.
