As many of you know, water shortages and power outages can occur frequently here on the island. This often creates several problems when caring for our patients. As such, Dr. Loukia reached out to Not One More Vet, Inc for assistance who immediately provided a grant to purchase and install a battery-ran system to keep our equipment running during those times our area is without electricity. We would like to inform our AgapiVet Family that due to Dr. Loukia's teaching responsibilities, she will be out of office August 15th until September 4th. As many of you know, AgapiVet recently hosted faculty, vet students, and alumni from the University of Illinois. Together we helped spay / neuter and treat roughly 250 homeless animals here at the clinic and at the municipal shelter of Rhodes! Special thanks to Drs. Gene Pavlovski and Anita Kalonaros for helping to keep the group on track, the Rhodes Municipality for allowing us to continue our volunteer efforts, Paideia Study Abroad Programs with the Pan-Rhodian Society "Apollo" for their continuous support, and all of you for always contributing to our "tip" jar!

Dear AgapiVet Family, we'd like to inform you that we shall be closed on Friday, March 22nd until Friday, March 30th in order to attend a veterinary orthopedic workshop in Boston. Meet Fortunato! This little guy came to us with multiple broken bones, a very bad infection of his wounds, and not being able to walk or feel his legs. Almost 2 months later of orthopedic surgeries, bandage changes, acupuncture, laser therapy, and lots of love he is is starting to feel and use his legs! A huge thank you to Fabia from Italy who rescued him from the streets and to all of you for your continued donations for strays like this one to get the care they need! If you are interested in adopting this little guy, please let us know! He is our little Christmas miracle!

Thanks to everyone that adds to our "tip cup"! Your donations not only help us treat animals that otherwise wouldn't receive care, but allowed us this past weekend to spay neuter a group of community cats and perform a bilateral pinnectomy on a kitty with skin cancer. Special thanks to Claudia Losse from Flying Cats and Paula Anagnostou for helping catch these kitties! -And a huge euxaristw to Natasa Menegaki for creating such a beautiful mug for us!

This weekend, thanks to Flying Cats e.V., we delivered velch to various safe location for deer, rabbits, and other animals to eat! An extra big thank you to all the volunteers that helped out!

After finishing up at the clinic today, we headed over to Arhaggelos to offer our services at the vet station the Municipality set up. Luckily, no injured animals were brought in, so we headed out to see if we can aid any animals in need. We are happy to report, that even though the smell of ash was still in the air, we saw many healthy animals, especially deer roaming the lands! Although there is much work ahead, today was a good day. An extra BIG thank you to all those that gave us a reason to smile again!

Friends, we have a cat that has been offered a forever home abroad and needs to be escorted on a flight to Paris. She was actually brought to us before the fires and is now ready to travel. If anyone is traveling from Rhodes to Paris, please let us know, as we are trying to create space for incoming animals. Thank you so much!

Φίλοι, ενώ ήμασταν έξω για να βοηθήσουμε σήμερα με τις πυρκαγιές, ένας άνδρας και ο γιος του ήταν έξω αναζητώντας τον μαύρο σκύλο τους στην περιοχή του χωριού Ασκληπιείο. Αν κάποιος μάζεψε ένα μαύρο σκυλί από αυτήν την περιοχή, παρακαλούμε να μας ενημερώσει!

Friends, while we were out helping today with the fires, a man and his son were out looking for their black dog in the area of Asklipio village. If anyone collected a black dog from that area, please let us know!

With so much sadness all around, we'd like to share an ounce of good news. After great efforts, Tharri Monastery has for one more evening escaped the flames. Along with it, a mama and baby deer. We wish we could share some photos with you, but in the moment, it was too hard. No action is too small. We thank all the volunteers that are continuing to fight for our island, especially in the night with strong winds. Please stay safe
