Dear Friends,
We urgently need your help! Last Thursday, a poor puppy was found crying on the side of the road, unable to walk. It is clear that she was hit by a vehicle, pushed off to the edge on the road, and left there. The vet examined her briefly on Friday, prescribed pain medication and anti-inflammatory drugs, and advised rest until we could get X-rays done to determine the extent of her injuries and make a proper treatment plan.
Yesterday, the X-rays revealed that she has two broken hips—one side with a severe, displaced fracture and the other side still in alignment.
To treat her, she will require:
- Immediate surgery to repair the displaced fractured hip
- Possibly a future surgery on the other hip if it does not heal properly
The total cost for her care (including surgery, X-rays, medication, and transportation) is $315 USD (or 2,430 Quetzals).
As some of you know, I teach English online early every morning, 7 days a week, to support the nearly 30 animals in my care. Unfortunately, I simply don't have the budget to cover these unexpected medical costs.
