For emergencies we may not have advanced life saving technology but if you are having to face the possibility of humane euthanasia, our team will be able to help you through the transition.

Job Description:
The Spay/Neuter Veterinary Assistant will be responsible for supporting the daily operation of the low-cost spay/neuter clinic located at GAIN in Yigo on a Flex schedule. Duties will include, but are not limited to interacting with clients and their pets in a professional and courteous manner, working closely with the clinic staff to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients, and providing clerical support as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:
✔Directing clinic staff in a high-volume, fast-paced, spay/neuter environment
✔Directing volunteers, teaching and assigning tasks
✔Safely handling dogs and cats in a clinic setting
✔Preparing medications
✔Administering medications to cats and dogs, placing IV catheters, inducing anesthesia
✔Preparing animals for surgery
✔Supporting veterinarians during surgical procedures
✔Providing pre-op and post-op monitoring for dogs and cats
✔Entering patient data into software / database
✔Tracking and logging controlled drugs
✔Compiling order lists, maintaining inventory
✔Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining clinic facility
✔Wrapping and autoclaving packs
✔Providing additional support to clinic staff as needed (intake, discharge, phones, etc.)
✔Cleaning cages and prepping for the next surgery day

Job Requirements:
Must be 18 years of older and have a valid driver’s license

Compensation: To be determined - based on experience

Melon's story is one of fate and love at first sight. A past GAIN adopter came in looking to meet cats but ended up meeting Melon instead. It was a match made in heaven as they instantly fell in love! The adopter ran home to get Ahtreyu, a previously adopted GAIN pup, to see if they would get along. And guess what? They hit it off instantly, becoming instant BFFs! 🐶💕🐶

🙏 We are grateful for the support of our community, which understands the challenges we face on Guam. However, there is a small but vocal minority that chooses to send us hate and hurtful messages, which only serves to bring us down.

🌺 We want to emphasize that we did not create the stray animal issue on Guam. Instead, we are actively working to address it by being the only open admission shelter on the island, providing low-cost spay and neuter services, and always being willing to take in more animals in need.
