CATHERINE’S PUPPIES - NO MORE DOGS. 🔚

The vets have called me again that the bill is close to $100,000, 92k to be exact.

This is too much stress for me every month and I can’t keep posting and begging for funds. We need just 1000 people to donate $50hkd monthly - the price of one coffee or a glass of wine/beer basically. But I’ve run out of ways to ask, post after post and though some lovely people have started to send their $50 a month (Thank you), it’s not even close to 1000 people.

With $50,000 a month coming in every month, I’d be able to stop fretting all the time about covering the bills - and do what I want to do which is just look after the dogs (I volunteer full time at our Tai Mong Tsai shelter) and focus on homing more.

We have one dog coming in today at 5.30pm - after that I am going to have to say no to any new puppies/dogs that need help and as hard as that will be, it’s going to have to be that way until the current vets bill is clear, and we start to get more regular funds.

If you guys want CP to keep going and helping more dogs, please if you can spare $50 a month, send it our way. Over almost 15 years we’ve achieved amazing things, thousands of dogs helped by a very small and basic organisation that I’m very proud of. But I can’t keep it going with the financial stress of the vets bills on my shoulders.

Your dog is licking its paws, and you're probably thinking that's normal, it's grooming itself.

However, this could be hiding a real problem, dogs don't lick their paws for nothing. It's often a sign that he's trying to say something. It's a real signal.

It could be several things. An irritation or allergy can be caused by grass, household products or even food.

It could be an injury from a thorn, such as a spikelet, or a small stone stuck in the paw pads.
Finally, it could be stress or boredom. Some dogs do it to calm themselves like we do when we pick our nails.

Let's enrich his daily routine with stimulating activities or games, whether it's stress or boredom. However, especially if you ever see any redness, swelling or bad smell in his paws, don't hesitate to consult your vet.

I respect that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including myself. It's completely fine to disagree, but let's remember to express our differing views respectfully. Engaging in rude comments when we disagree only hinders productive conversations.

HERE’S WHY SOCIALIZING A PUPPY IN THE DOG PARK IS NOT IDEAL.

Number one, the diversity of human perspectives on dogs, their behaviour, and psychology often leads to a lack of consensus. This variance in opinions can result in conflicting approaches towards handling a dog. Unfortunately, the dog itself ultimately bears the brunt of this discord.

Number two, unbalanced dogs. So, you’re going to have dogs in a dog park, likely that dogs don’t have the best training. And a lot of people who just bring their dogs there to just burn some exercise. So that creates a high probability of a puppy, potentially having a bad experience, which is the last thing you want them to do during imprint. It’s very important that your puppy has very positive experiences with other dogs and people during their infancy.

Number three. dog parks are dirty. Many of the public parks are not clean. There’s a high probability of disease. And that’s the last thing you want your puppy to be around. Instead, you can find friends or family who have a balanced dog, and who also agree with your ideas and methods of dog behaviour.

This way your dog can be around a balanced dog and have a great experience being around people who agree with you.
