Why Dry Pet Food Can Be Bad, Especially Because of Rancid (Spoiled) Fat

When you open a bag of dry pet food (kibble), some of the healthy fats inside, like omega-3s, which help keep your pet’s skin and coat healthy, start to go bad. This happens because air and light can make the fats spoil, kind of like how chips go stale after you open the bag.

Also, kibble is made by cooking it at super high temperatures, which destroys a lot of the good nutrients. So, to make up for it, factories spray on a mix of vitamins and flavours at the end to make it smell and taste better to pets.

But here’s the problem: the sprayed-on vitamins are often cheap and not very high quality. Some of them can make the fats spoil even faster! This means that just one week after opening the bag, the food might not be as safe or healthy for your pet anymore.

To help your pet stay healthy, it’s a good idea to seal the bag tightly, store it in a cool place, and use it up quickly, or talk to your vet about fresher food options!
