香港連續一周暴雨，趁住雨勢小一點或停雨，家長都會想帶著狗狗出街前，我們建議家長停一停，唸一唸！！暴雨過後可能會為狗狗帶來隱藏的健康威脅：鉤端螺旋體病。這種由細菌引起的疾病可以透過接觸受污染的積水或濕潤的土壤傳染給你的寵物，甚至可能是你自己‼
🔴鉤端螺旋體病(Leptospirosis)是由致病性鉤端螺旋體(pathogenic Leptospires)感染產生的感染症，是溫帶及熱帶地區常見的人畜共患病。
可經由傷口感染幾乎所有的哺乳類動物，主要宿主有老鼠、狗、豬牛馬羊等動物。🐀🐶🐖🦬🐴🐏
動物感染鉤端螺旋體後→造成腎臟慢性感染→並且由尿液大量排菌→再經由尿液污染水及土壤→進而感染人類。
人或動物可經由皮膚、黏膜或傷口接觸到受污染的土壤或水而得病，少部份因直接接觸動物及其組織而感染。
鉤端螺旋體最常在打風及暴雨後出現於山澗泥土中，毛孩感染初期所呈現的早期症狀，如嘔吐和腹瀉與普通腸胃炎相似，沒有明顯病徵，往往到主人發現異樣時已經為時已晚，而且更有機會傳播給人類。
暴雨過後、街道上的水是極為骯髒的，包括坑渠內老鼠屍體攜帶大量細菌及病毒，毛孩如舔過經老鼠尿液或污水污染的物件，即有機會感染!
家長亦避免穿著涼鞋或拖鞋外出，最好穿着水靴，即使皮膚上只有細微傷口，亦容易受感染。如需「澗水」又沒有水靴，可事先用膠袋包好雙腳再用繩綁好。🥾🥾外出過的鞋襪切記不要讓家中毛孩接觸 。
‼預防注意事項⇩
1️⃣避免在可能遭受污染的水中游泳或涉水；
2️⃣保持衛生，勤洗手 做好消毒工作；
3️⃣定期為狗狗施打預防針；
4️⃣如狗狗出現發燒、黃疸、精神委靡、食慾不振、嘔吐或腹瀉等疑似鉤端螺旋體感染症狀，建議儘速就醫，並提供獸醫相關接觸史。
注: 接受了預防接種的狗狗仍有可能受病菌感染，但與未接種疫苗的狗狗相比，成功痊癒的機會較大。
During a week of continuous heavy rain in Hong Kong, as the rain momentarily subsides or stops, dog owners may consider taking their dogs out. However, we urge you to pause and reflect! The aftermath of heavy rain can bring hidden health threats to your dogs, such as Leptospirosis. This disease, caused by bacteria, can be transmitted to your pets and potentially even to you through contact with contaminated standing water or moist soil.
Leptospirosis is an infectious disease caused by pathogenic Leptospires and is a common zoonotic disease in temperate and tropical regions. It can be transmitted to almost all mammals through wounds, with primary hosts including rodents, dogs, pigs, cattle, horses, and sheep. 🐀🐶🐖🦬🐴🐏
After animals are infected with Leptospires, it can lead to chronic kidney infection and a significant bacterial shedding through urine, which can then contaminate water and soil, potentially infecting humans. Humans or animals can become infected by contact with contaminated soil or water through the skin, mucous membranes, or wounds, and in some cases, through direct contact with animals and their tissues. 🦠🧫
In flooded conditions, the water on the streets is extremely dirty, including water in drains carrying a high bacterial and viral load, making it important to avoid wearing sandals or flip-flops when going out. It's best to wear rubber boots. Even minor skin wounds can easily become infected. 🥾🥾
If you need to walk through flooded areas without proper footwear, you can wrap your feet in plastic bags and secure them with rope.
‼️Preventive measures⇩
1️⃣Avoid swimming or wading in potentially contaminated water.
2️⃣Maintain hygiene, wash hands regularly, and practice disinfection.
3️⃣Ensure your dogs receive regular vaccinations.
4️⃣If your dog shows symptoms such as fever, jaundice, lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea suspected of Leptospirosis infection, seek prompt medical attention and provide the veterinarian with relevant exposure history.
