Koda is eating!
An update on Koda!
Firstly, thank you to everyone who has donated towards Koda’s care. This sweet, 8 month old Samoyed puppy has received an outpouring of support which is nothing short of inspiring.
We have good news and we have bad news. The good news is that both the tick fever and the lepto test came back negative! The bad news is, further testing showed he has an infected liver. Seeing him eat (for the first time in many days) is very encouraging to see, but we know this guy has a road to recovery in front of him and he needs to keep fighting.
Please keep your fingers crossed, this little trooper is continuing to fight because generous donators gave him the chance he deserved.

Looking to adopt a French Bulldog puppy? Felix is a 9-month-old, cream Frenchie who is looking for his forever home. Felix was recently at the adoption day, and while he had a lot of interest, it's essential that we find him a home with humans who understand the complexities of the issues that this breed can face, so we are looking for someone with previous dog experience, preferably with French Bulldogs.
If you are interested in adopting a Frenchie, there are a few things you should know and consider:
1. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE! Because they've been crossed so many times and bred to have an unnatural (but cute!) face shape, they are prone to many genetic problems. Frenchies are also known to have many allergies, skin and breathing issues. Vet bills with Frenchies can be very high.
2. THEY ARE PRONE TO OBESITY. Weight management is key, but can be tricky as Frenchies overheat easily, but also always want to be on the go. If not given the proper diet and a playful environment, they will become overweight easily.
3. THEY LOVE TO PLAY. Frenchies are good family dogs and very playful. If you want a calm and mellow dog, a French bulldog may not be for you.
4. THEY SHOULD NOT BE LEFT ALONE. Frenchies become very attached to their owner and can feel separation anxiety more than other breeds. These are companion animals who need to be by their humans almost at all times.
5. THEY ARE OFTEN TIMES IMPOSSIBLE (OR EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE) TO RELOCATE. Due to being prone to breathing issues, most airlines won't allow the breed.

Don Don, a senior rescue Pomeranian, was recently adopted, and the updates we receive from this smiley and happy little dog light up our hearts. It's so wonderful to see an old dog get a second chance at a great life.
Here's what her adopter, Constance, has to say about Don Don and the overall experience:
"We visited VKB with a friend who had been approved to start a trial adoption with a rescue dog. During the visit, we were attracted by the energetic vibes from Java (renamed DonDon). She was an adorable Pomeranian, even though she was covered by some messy fur. She had not been asked about, and no one had applied to adopt her because of her old age. Given that it is not easy to find a home for a senior rescue, and because we felt so drawn to her, we happily accepted the suggestion of a 2-week trial and brought her home.
DonDon took some time to do toilet training, but she adapted to her new environment quickly, and gets along well with the two dogs in my family. After 2 months, her hair grew into a beautiful and super soft brown colour. We are very encouraged because a senior dog has become so gorgeous after taking good care of it. DonDon is not noisy, not picky, sleeps well independently at night and always carries a big smile. She does not ask for much; it is enough to give her a little walk outside or play in my front yard every day. We hope more people can adopt senior rescue dogs as they deserve to have a home forever and be loved."

Both paws are corrected and now she will have the challenging task of re-learning to walk with new and improved limbs. We suspect it will take her a bit of time, but we are delighted she has a better chance and running and playing normally.

Emil's surgery is booked!
Thanks to the very generous donations of our supporters, this cute puppy is booked to have his prolapsed surgery corrected. We are so grateful to everyone who donated, liked, and shared the post. We were able to raise more than the estimated cost of his surgery at NPV 非牟利獸醫服務協會 (Non-Profit Making veterinary services society Ltd) and the additional funds will go towards vaccinations for the newest members of the VKB pack.

SPECIAL NEEDS DOG 需要特別照顧的狗狗
Misty, our gorgeous 5-month-old Welsh Corgi, has no idea being blind is a disability and when she hears ‘special needs’ she only hears SPECIAL. As with many puppies, she is a bit clumsy at first and will need someone who can watch her carefully while she adjusts to her new surroundings. For dogs, smell and hearing are so important that being blind means Misty can live a full, happy life, learn tricks and commands and will be an active member of her family. She just needs a patient someone who can give her extra attention to start with and is ready to start their adoption journey with the sweetest puppy.
