I met Cooper when he was 5yo. He was found in a new territories village in 2017 by an older lady. When I met her, she told me her pears kept being stolen. Then one day saw it was Cooper eating them.
He was skinny and in poor condition. The old lady sought help from volunteers to raise funds to treat his heartworm for almost a year. After, he had different fosters and have been adopted at least once.
That's when he was brought to LAP .org.hk where I was volunteering. That was my first time seeing a doberman with full ears too. His tail was docked though, and see claws removed.
I was then asked if I could foster him until he got adopted. Not too long after, I signed the paperwork to have him stay with me.
Later on and said it was a strategic decision to have me "foster". It worked. I am grateful 🙏🏽
Through Cooper, I realized they're such beatiful sweet attentive breeds. Dobermans and many other breeds have been so misunderstood, and thus treated so differently - mostly handled with a tough hand.
