Nachdem in den sozialen Medien hier auf Bali lange das Gerücht rumging, dass die Regierung eine groß angelegte Aktion plane, alle Straßenhunde auf Bali zu euthanisieren, um Tollwut unter Kontrolle zu bekommen, sind wir mehr als erleichtert über das heutige Statement in der Zeitung „Bali Sun“:

Im Artikel wird konstatiert, dass es nicht zu einer Massenvernichtung der Straßenhunde kommen wird, sondern im Gegenteil das Tollwutproblem nur in den Griff zu bekommen ist mit Massensterilisationen, um weitere ungewollte Hunde auf der Straße zu vermeiden und organisierten Massenimpfungen gegen Tollwut! Chapeau!

Denn genau das ist es, was wir hier in Padang Bai machen!
Animal Support Padang Bai sammelt Spendengelder, um den Einwohnern hier im Dorf eine Sterilisation Ihrer Tiere finanziell überhaupt erst zu ermöglichen. Jedes Sterilisationsevent in Zusammenarbeit mit Bali Pet Crusaderss wird außerdem begleitet von der zentralen Impfbehörde, die die Tiere parallel gegen Tollwut impft!

Padang Bai hat immer noch Straßenhunde. Aber die meisten, die in den letzten Jahre hier vor Ort gewesen sind, bestätigen, dass sich die Situation weit verbessert hat! Die gesamte Dorfgemeinschaft arbeitet zusammen, kümmert sich um Hunde auf den Straßen und das macht sich langsam aber sicher bemerkbar!

Unterstützt vom Bürgermeisteramt hier in Padang Bai und der Bürgermeisterin Suparwati wollen wir noch in diesem Jahr einen weiteren Sterilisationstag für Padang Bai anbieten!

Dazu brauchen wir wie immer Eure finanzielle Unterstützung! Helft uns als gutes Beispiel hier auf Bali voranzugehen und zu zeigen, dass eine Massenvernichtung von Hunden nicht nur das Allerletzte ist, sondern eine Kontrolle des Bestandes und damit auch eine Eindämmung der Tollwutgefahr nur durch Sterilisationen erreicht werden kann!

Padang Bai, das war ein grosser Tag! Ich bin sprachlos. - Und das passiert selten genug 😉-
Durch Eure Hilfe konnten wir heute insgesamt 49 Hunde und Katzen sterilisieren. In Worten: NEUNUNDVIERZIG 😀
Und über 130 Tollwutimpfungen geben!

Unsere grosse Anerkennung geht mal wieder an Bpc Vet Bali Pet Crusaders, die mit ihrem Team unermüdlich gearbeitet haben!
Die besondere Ehre für uns heute war Deb Banfield, die Gründerin von BPC direkt vor Ort mit dabei zu haben! Es war ein Fest 😀

Ein riesen grosses Dankeschön auch an DINAS, der staatlichen Impfbehörde hier aus Karangasem, die wieder vor Ort waren und einen wahnsinns Job geleistet haben 😀

Und ganz besonders der Bürgermeisterin von Padang Bai und Desa Adat, die sich immer zu für Animal Welfare einsetzen und die Wichtigkeit einer Sterilisation und Impfung im Dorf verbreiten! Ihr seid toll :-)

Wir haben es geschafft! Ihr seid unfassbar! Unser Sterilisationstag diesen Freitag ist durch Euren Beitrag gesichert und die Bürgermeisterin von Padang Bai hat sich persönlich dafür eingesetzt, dass auch die staatliche Impfbehörde für Tollwutimpfungen vor Ort ist. Grossartig!
Wir berichten am Wochenende wie es gelaufen ist!
Wieder sind wir gemeinsam einen Schritt weiter 😀

Endlich, wir haben es geschafft und einen Termin für unseren nächsten Sterilisationstag hier in Padang Bai in Kooperation mit BaliPetCrusaders terminieren können!

Am 24. Mai ist es so weit und unser Ziel ist es, so viel Hunde und Katzen wie möglich zu sterilisieren und sie gegen Tollwut zu impfen, um die endlose Schleife von ungewollten Puppies und Kitten hier im Dorf in den Griff zu bekommen!

Animal Support Padang Bai finanziert und organisiert diesen Sterilisationstag über Eure Spenden!
Wir haben bisher Rücklagen für diesen Tag in Höhe von 5 Millionen IDR (ca. 300 EUR), müssen aber das Doppelte an Spendengeldern erreichen! Wer kann uns helfen? Wer macht mit!

Wir kämpfen seit einem halben Jahr, um diesen Termin für Padang Bai zu bekommen. Jetzt ist es endlich soweit und viele Hunde- und Katzenbesitzer im Dorf atmen auf! Den meisten ist es finanziell schlicht und ergreifend nicht möglich, selbst für die Sterilisation Ihres Tieres aufzukommen. Viele lokale Familien hier im Dorf engagieren sich und kümmern sich um Straßenhunde/Katzen und nehmen diese auf! Lasst uns Ihnen gemeinsam helfen, indem diese Tiere sterilisiert und geimpft werden. Leider haben wir heute keine guten Neuigkeiten für Euch.
Unser kleines Hundemädchen, das wir letzte Woche mit schweren Wunden in die Klinik gebracht haben, ist gestern Morgen in der Klinik verstorben.

Die Wunden waren zu groß, zu infiziert und die Kleine zu jung, um durchzukommen. Am Tag zuvor dachten wir noch, sie macht es! Die Ärzte informierten uns, dass sie den ersten Tag aktiv ist und selbstständig gefressen hat. Aber es hat wohl doch nicht gereicht. Wichtig ist uns, sie ist nicht allein von dieser Welt gegangen. Sie hatte Menschen, die sich kümmern um sich herum. Lauf frei kleines Baby! In ein hoffentlich besseres Leben…

Wir danken allen, die uns finanziell unterstützt haben. Die Spenden haben uns geholfen die Klinik zu bezahlen! Toll, dass es Menschen gibt, die am anderen Ende der Welt helfen, einer kleinen Seele eine Chance zu geben. Auch wenn es nicht immer gut ausgeht!

Dafür haben wir nun Katzennachwuchs im Haus! 3 weitere kleine Babys, die mittlerweile über die Flaschenfütterung raus sind und unser Haus auf den Kopf stellen: Tom, Tim und Sophie! So schön es ist sie aufwachsen zu sehen, so schlimm ist es jedes Mal die Kleinen völlig verwahrlost im Vorfeld auf der Straße zu finden und zu bangen, ob sie durchkommen. Aber ohne ein Zuhause, hätten diese kleinen Seelen keine Chance!

Notfall! Schaffen wir es gemeinsam, diesem kleinen Mädchen eine Chance auf Leben zu geben?

Geschätzt 1,5 Monate alt, mit schweren Bisswunden voller Maden im Genick und das Fell voller Flöhe und Milben wurde sie heute Morgen in einer Tüte vor unserem Haus abgelegt.

Wir hatten keine andere Wahl, als die Kleine direkt in eine Tierklinik zu bringen. Dort wurde sie erstversorgt und wird nun stationär behandelt.

Es ist noch nicht klar, wie lange sie in der Klinik bleiben muss. Und es ist auch noch nicht klar, wo sie danach unterkommt. Aber das ist jetzt erstmal zweitrangig. Sie hat eine Chance auf Leben verdient. Das ist das, was zählt!

May I introduce you to Oskar? 😀
One of our latest rescues..... he is adorable and so comfy in here...

Anyhow Oscar's should not end up unwanted and abandoned on the street. Therefor we need another sterilization event here! Help us making this possible in contributing to it 🙏

We already raised 50% of the costs..... but we need more....hate to ask. But there is no other way to prevent having more tiny Oskars....who end up on the streets...

Three kittens, abandoned on the street, in the middle of driving cars. Of course, we have enough at home. But can you keep going when the little ones are screaming at you and asking for help? No. Definitely no.

We brought them home, bathed them, took care of them and fed them.
Unfortunately, one of the little ones didn't make it. It was too weak. It spent its last night in love and was held. Get well over the rainbow bridge, little girl!

Emil and Oskar are safe now. Two more mouths to feed. But that's not what matters. What matters is that these little creatures have the right to live in safety. And we can at least give them that. They will never forget their mother and we can only try to provide a substitute.

As I already promised, we don't want to withhold from you some small rescues from 2023 that we haven't reported on in social media, or only a little.

Let me tell you about Coki. Coki is a dog from the neighboring village who was hit by a car at the beginning of the year and could no longer use his hind legs. The owner contacted us and asked if we had any medication.... so that the dog could walk again.
We visited the family and Coki and it quickly became clear that the little one would no longer be able to use his legs. We were at a loss at first, as the family was so desperate and desperate to help Coki.
After a bit of research, we actually found a craftsman here in Bali who makes wheelchairs for dogs! We contacted Coki's family and financed the wheelchair!

Look at the result in the video.... With a little bit of action, Coki has regained his quality of life and can run again! Happy ending!

We want to offer another sterilization day for dogs and cats in Padang Bai this year! Please help us with a small donation to make this possible. Sterilization is the only way to prevent puppies and kittens from being unintentionally "thrown away" or abandoned! The sterilization of an animal cost 25 EUR! Many of you may have already thought Animal Support Padang Bai no longer exists... But quite the opposite!

Due to profound personal changes in the past year, our online presence was limited in time and we have focused more on ad hoc help and less spread in social media! We are happy to tell you about the incredible rescue operations we have carried out this year, how many animals we have medically treated, sterilized and vaccinated and to what size our small private zoo has grown. Stay tuned!

Animal Support Padang Bai is alive! More than ever! We have only parallel established a foundation here in Indonesia last year: Livingseas Foundation. From coral reef restoration, coastal and ocean waste management to outreach and awareness initiatives, we engage and collaborate with local communities in Bali, Indonesia, to create impact projects that restore marine biodiversity and give back to the ocean.

To get something like this up and running takes time and energy and if we hadn't had a few supporters for Animal Support Padang Bai in parallel - even without the social media presence - who made it possible for us to keep our heads above water financially, we wouldn't have been able to keep going until today! Many thanks for that!

But now we must organize the next sterilization day here in Padang Bai! Hardly a day goes by when locals don't ask us when we will offer another event in cooperation with Bali Pet Crusaders and make it possible for people here to have their animals vaccinated and sterilized!
The sterilization of a cat or dog is estimated at 25 EURO. If we want to help 30 animals and their owners as we have done in past events, we need 750 EURO.
A lot of money, yes. But what one alone cannot achieve, many together can!

And in the first round of our introductions here: Marie!
Marie was about six weeks old when we were told that a little kitten had been abandoned at Gili harbor. We fetched the little one, bathed her, gave her medical care and took her in. Unfortunately, we had to bring her to the clinic after two days because the little mouse had a bacterial overgrowth and would have simply passed away!
Thanks to the help of SunSet Vet Ubud, Marie is now back here with us at home since two days and slowly realizes that she won the lottery 😉 she plays, eats and enjoys her life. Marie is cat 29… I'm just saying. And we are NOT a shelter!
A big thank you to Kirsten, who spend her holiday here, found Marie at the harbor and informed us. Kirsten and her boyfriend spontaneously donated for Marie and now also contributed to the costs of the hospital stay! Chapeau. Together, rescue works, alone it’s difficult!
More soon, about other emergencies we have rescued this year.

Think about helping us offer Padang Bai another sterilization day! This is the only way to make sure that unwanted puppies and kittens do not end up in the garbage somewhere or are simply abandoned!

And here comes the next emergency...
Yesterday evening we received this video of a dog here from Padang Bai. The dog was hit by a car and is paralyzed. The owners are devastated and love the dog very much. But there is not enough money for a proper examination in a veterinary clinic. So far he has only received painkillers and vitamins. But what the dog needs is a x-ray on the basis of which further decisions can be made.
Would anyone like to help us get the dog to a veterinary clinic? Since we recently financed the last sterilization day in Padang Bai, our funds are almost gone.
But the dog should at least have the chance to be examined. The family would also be able to cope if we get a wheelchair for him. We will get that here in Bali, but for now we must find out what exactly is going on!

Just now the little cat with the bad eye - we wrote about it - was treated in an emergency surgery. The eye was amputated, and the little cat was neutered. The operation was successful, and the cat is now sleeping.
Tomorrow morning, we will show the owner of the cat how to give medication and see how the little one is doing!

What a great day we had today here in Padang Bai with our sterilization and vaccination campaign in collaboration with Bali Pet Crusaders and DINAS. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!

People started lining up before 9am and waited patiently with their animals. We managed to vaccinate over 50 animals against rabies and have 41 dogs and cats neutered!

When you see the people holding their animals in their arms, convinced that the sterilization is important, yet being afraid if everything will go well… The joy of getting the animal back in their arms at the end and knowing that it has been well taken care of.... and the gratitude... very emotional.

Also, the colleagues from the local small recycling station here in Padang Bai, who always find little puppies and kittens in the garbage and somehow try to give the animals a home at the garbage station, were on the mat at 9am! Now that's what I call caring!

It's a whole different level of attention to be seen than years ago. People care and we all did it together, never stopping to talk about the importance of sterilization and offering help.

Unfortunately, this time we received very few donations for the sterilization campaign. Nevertheless, we were able to pay the medical team with a donation today.
However, unfortunately, two more emergencies landed at the appointment today, and we now must have them specially cared for:

One dog - our Ozone - maybe some of you still remember him. We rescued him on the beach long before the pandemic and had him medically treated. Ozone is getting old now. He has lost a lot of weight and is less active. We can only help him by doing a blood test, and that is beyond our budget right now.......

A cat rescued on the street by a family here in Padang Bai has lost an eye. The eye needs to be surgically removed. Otherwise, the cat will not make it. Of course, we have already organized this surgery for tomorrow.... But how we will pay for it is still up in the air now....

Just last week we caught a cat with scabies on the street and had it treated. But that was only possible with a bite and an infection haha.
Regardless. We are still here. We still care about the welfare of the animals here in Padang Bai. And we see that the understanding of the people here in the village is growing ....
