The wonderful Buddy who came to us in May has been on a little weight loss journey since his arrival. He's reached the weight that I believe he should be considering he's an older lad and may be prone to arthritis at some stage a while ago. He likes to be with the other pigs but also likes time alone, especially when the girls are in heat and want to stick their snouts into his behind looking for things that were there but are no longer 🤭🤭
He's taken to coming for brunch some days and will barge through the back door looking for service and particularly enjoys some warm porridge with fruit. Of course he doesn't get to have all of it as the chooks are always on lookout to grab whatever they can from the piggies

10/10/2024

Starting at 9pm on Saturday, the wonderful Joanne Robey will be hosting an auction on anylittlethings to help us with our feed bill.
There will be some lovely items of new and pre-loved jewellery, gifts, etc., all donated by our followers.
Pop along and treat yourself or a friend to a little something nice.
Thank you so much for your continued support and love, we appreciate every single one of you ❤️

I haven’t done this before but I wanted to share our current account balance with our agri store.

Last month we managed to pay off €2000 but then spend approx €450 a week on feed alone and then hay and bedding needs to be added to that.

I try not to post too much about needing funds as I know it becomes draining (& boring) for people to see but if anyone could please help us get this bill down it would take a massive pressure off of me.

We also owe the vets approx €1500 and we have a cat who needs a dental which will push that debt up.

As we go into autumn/winter our outgoings, which are are in excess of €2000 per month, will increase.
We’ve been doing our best to make small changes to our feeding regimes and the bedding etc we use so the animals still get everything they need but we can save a little on the outgoings.

Regular friends to the page will also know that we use our pension money towards looking after the animals but we aren’t able to bridge the gap by a long way.

I also want to thank those people who donate to us on a regular basis, your support keeps me sane and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate every cent that comes in to help the souls we have in our care

If you’d like to help with either the bill for the agri store you can pay:

directly to them by bank transfer, details on the photo

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied to the post last night and those who sent messages through. We had no damage here due to the storm, everyone is safe and ok but a lot of the land is flooded and the rest saturated. The mud is already unreal and we’re only in october. Nightmare 🤦🏼‍♀️

06/10/2024

We are very sad to let you know that we have to postpone Story Sunday since the sanctuary was struck by a nasty storm. Luckily, everybody is safe but we are dealing with massive flooding of the land. Therefore, we need to focus on tidying up at the moment. We'll keep you updated in the next days 🐈🐐🐓🐔🐑🐷.

STORY SUNDAY - Hotpot
About a year ago we were contacted by a lady on behalf of her parents who had been feeding a stray cat for some time. The cat had gone off and then come back a few weeks later with two kittens. The elderly couple were very fond of the mother cat 🐈 and wanted to keep her but didn’t want the kittens or the mammy cat to have any more.
They were not very local but we agreed to help with the trapping and neutering of the mammy and two kittens. The couple had built up quite a relationship with them and were able to just put the mammy and one of the kittens straight into the cat carriers but the other kitten was more elusive and very nervous😳.
We got the mammy and first kitten spayed and it turned out the mammy had a womb infection so she was treated before any damage could be done by the infection👩‍⚕️. We kept the kitten to see if we could tame her and rehome her. The mammy went back to the couple she came from after a short stay in the vets and made a full recovery☀️🐱.
Within a few days the first kitten melted and became very friendly and she was named Tofu. It took some time to trap the second kitten but when we did she went to be spayed and then back to us to be tamed and we called her Hotpot.
In case you are wondering about the unconventional names: at our local Chinese I always have a Tofu Hotpot so that’s where the names came from 🍜.
The two kittens couldn’t have been more different in personalities and a good home was found for Tofu.
It took several months to be able to get anywhere near Hotpot and gain her trust but very slowly she started to get closer to me and calm down. However, any sudden movements and she’d be off hiding underneath the bed or in a closet 👻 so you’d have to start again.
Originally she lived on the first floor and was too scared to explore the area downstairs. However, after some time she started jumping on the first stair, a few day afterwards the second and so on. Until finally she was brave enough to stand paw on the ground-floor 🥳.
The idea was always to try and rehome her but she struck up a special relationship with one of the sanctuary cats called James. He helped give her confidence to relax a bit. She’s still very nervous and spends a lot of time outside at the moment but has a very good relationship with all of the cats apart from one of the spice boys who’s a terrible bully to her🤦🏼‍♀️.
She’s a sweet dear little soul and so incredibly pretty. One of her favourite activities is chasing feet under your blanket (which can be painful at times, especially when you are not prepared for a sudden attack in the early morning hours). Truth be told, you cannot be mad at this charming girl who exactly knows how to melt your heart.
I’m sure as time goes on she’ll settle down even more once the naughty spice boy leaves her alone.
Hotpot is still looking for sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring any animal, please message the page 🐈❤️. Many thanks to everybody who already supports our animals living here 💜💗

STORY SUNDAY - Rudy
Rudy came to us on 3 May 2023 from Wexford.
In his old home he was a full male around several females, which resulted in naughty behaviour💥.
Rudy was castrated before coming here and his behaviour in that regard has been perfect. He’s never pucked or done anything with any aggression or ill intent since being here. He is actually a dote.
He’s a Pygmy boy with a massive personality. He is a favourite amongst all the people who have come to help and with ourselves🤍.
Nevertheless, he’s a cheeky boy who if you give him an inch will take a mile.
He also knows how to control situations to get his own way🤔. If you’re trying to move him out of a shelter by his collar and he doesn’t want to go he will drop to his knees so you let go or have to hold on for dear life (clever boy).
He’s fast and determined and has the sweetest little voice when he talks🎶. He LOVES the camera and as you can see on the pictures the camera loves him, he's very photogenic.
His sons Bandit and Bobbin are also part of our sanctuary here and as followers to the page will know we also have Rudy’s grandchildren as well - Matty and Sophie so it a a bit of a family affair. Of course Rudy just sees them as competition for food and attention so not best pleased🙄.
He has previously shared a pen with Freddie and Frodo whom he took under his wing after their arrival. However, their bromance is slowly growing apart as Rudy in truth feels he deserves a space to himself with a deep comfy bed and all the food he wants 😋.

Rudy is still looking for sponsors. If you want to sponsor an animal please contact the page ❤️

STORY SUNDAY - Denzel

Denzel came to us via the ISPCA back in early December 2018. We had taken Patrick and Basil from them earlier that year and they reached out after a very teeny Denzel was found by a dog walker laying next to his dead mother in the woods.
Initially he slept in the feed store with the hens we had and although he had a comfy bed under a heat lamp he would crawl into the hen coop to sleep at night🐔😴.
Denzel was always a bit of a baby and when we had a farrier come to see to their feet he would throw himself on the floor screaming even before the farrier touched him.
He had a special relationship with one of the sheep we had at the time who took him into his care 🐑🥰 and gave him the confidence to calm down and chill so he understood nothing bad would happen to him.
Although he was teeny tiny when he came to us he’s now our biggest goat and apart from one incident when he was young he’s a totally cool dude. He stays out of any nonsense with the other boys and just does his own thing. Nevertheless he loves company and usually will be found not too far away from the others. He is an important member of the main herd and the others do not bother to mess with him.
Denzel’s a gorgeous stunning gentle boy who comes for a fuss when he’s ready and once he knows you but on his own terms🐐🤍.

I was sent a couple of pics of these cat towers that are apparently on sale in Maxi Zoo. I’ve had a look at their site but can’t find them. As the spice boys are intent on moving in the house permanently we’re going to need different types of sleeping areas so they can all have somewhere to go to get away from each other.
If anyone knows how much these are can you let me know, or where you can get them at a reasonable price. Thanks
