Such an amazing and fascinating weekend of learning. The fantastic Jai from Hunter Aromatics came to visit us and give us further enlightenment on the benefits of Zoopharmacognosy for horses. There was a lot of laughter, some tears and real insights into the way horses are able to self select what they need for their own health and wellbeing. I cannot even begin to describe how blown away I was. I can’t wait to delve into it even further for all my fabulous residents. 🐎 🐎🐎

What is Zoocog or Self Selection?

There is definitely a lot in the media at the moment about the welfare of the horse in elite sport but also in leisure and this is a modality which helps to empower the animal.

Self selection is giving the animal back the choice - many of which, if we are honest, have been taken away from them. In a session we offer herbs, oils, seaweed and nutrients and allow the animal the choice to select what they need in that moment.

The beauty is an animal has the innate ability to heal itself so the work is healing by its nature but it can also tell you a lot about what the animal is currently coping with and better still you may be able to pick up on a condition before it becomes physical.

This is very powerful work and a wonderful opportunity to get to know your horse on a much deeper level.
