Hi everyone,
Just putting up a message to let everyone know I’ll be finishing up with dog grooming in the new year. I want to thank everyone for the support you’ve shown me I really was blown away. I’ve really enjoyed meeting everyone and I definitely couldn’t have asked for a kinder bunch of people.

I’m sure all our paths will cross again at another point. I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and new year 🎄

Why should I brush my dog ?

1) Helps distribute natural oils in your dogs coat preventing a build up of grease

2)It gives you a good insight to your dogs health eg. Helps spot bumps that may be of concern.

3) It helps your dog stay comfortable

4) Prevents matting therefore reducing the reasons for your dog to be shaved. If your dog is severely matted the fairest thing to do is to shave them as mattes can trap moisture and can be very sore for your furry friend !

5) It also reduces shedding as it removes dead hair follicles from the coat.

All dogs need brushing even short haired dogs. Poodle crosses and bichon frise are in the top bracket of dogs that need to be shaved due to matting.

Brushing doesn’t always have to be a chore it can be done while watching tv 📺 instead of petting your dog brush them instead !

What type if brush should I use?

Slicker brushes would be what I would recommend and they can be bought in homeland and off websites such as Amazon

Hi guys, I’m delighted to say that I am in business (finally!!!).

Here’s a before an after of Rex after his groom on Thursday 🤩

Rex got shaved head to toe due to the matting in his coat. He’s not a fan of being brushed etc so a shave was really the only option.

Double coated breeds regulate temperature like the cat I groomed the last day via their coat. They keep themselves hot and cold through their coat so ideally you wouldn’t usually shave them.

30% matting is my general rule when I decide to shave a dog. If a dog is over 30% matted they are probably uncomfy and this is the fairest call for them(and me 🤣). You wouldn’t believe he’s 11y/o!

This little fella came into me in the vets yesterday and he was completely matted. The kindest thing to do when an animal is this matted is to shave the animal.

I decided to try save the hair around the face and do what’s called a lion cut. I think the name is pretty self explanatory!🤣

When an animal is as matted as this little girl the mattes can actually begin to cause tension on the skin and irritation. It can promote a living space for unwanted creatures. It can actually cause a dog/ cat to feel cold as when it gets wet the damp stays in the matte, so actually a completely shaved animal is probably warmer then a matted animal. Animal health always comes over preference and although this girl looks a little silly, she will feel a huge sense of relief.

Please remember to brush your long haired cats and dogs to prevent them having to be shaved! It’s also important to never feel embarrassed if you have negelected your pets coat as life can get in the way!
