Remember Milo who was found tied in a bag with his dead siblings which was thrown from a van at Christmas time……..well thanks to all the amazing network of people who helped rescue, foster, rehabilitate and eventually rehome he’s doing amazing and has found his happily ever after with an adoring big brother named Groot. 👩🏻‍🎓🎓👩🏻‍🎓When it’s been nearly ten years since you did a postgrad in internal medicine and for some crazy memory lapse reason you decided it’d be a good idea to hit the books for another year of full on study/torture to get your surgical postgrad qualification🙈🤯🎓. Thanks to my amazing colleagues and family for putting up with all my absences whilst in the uk and during all the studying, and for all the countless cups of tea and chocolate that were supplied around deadline times! Best team ever🥰🥰

URGENT- PLEASE SHARE!!! Help urgently needed🥺…..This young puppy was thrown out of a blue hiace van near Rathvilly in a very tightly tied bag along with 2 other siblings who were already dead in the bag with him last night. The amazing finder who saw it happen was thankfully able to keep him safe overnight but we now need to find an immediate foster home or even better a loving permanent home. If you can help, even if only temporarily for over the rest of the holiday period please get in contact with us.

Would it even really be the last day of school when we planned to finish early without an emergency splenectomy?!?🙈🤣🤣

Reminder to order (and collect) food and prescriptions early as we are on limited hours from Monday next week. We are operating a strictly genuine emergency only small animal appointment system over the holiday period (ie from Monday 23rd to 1st January) in order to allow our fantastic staff who have worked so hard for us all year some much needed time off to enjoy the holidays with their families, so if your pet is currently just not right please ensure to book in for a check up tomorrow or Saturday as it will be emergencies only after then. Thank you. ☺️🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻🎄

The sciency post!🧪😬 Did u know when we ask for a urine sample we use it to check for LOTS of things?!This little guy was peeing in different spots than normal and then started peeing blood. When we spun it down in our centrifuge we saw concentrate in the bottom of the sample(pic2) and when looked at under the microscope we can see urinary struvite crystals, which in this little guys case have already started clumping together trying to form bladder stones. Luckily this is one of the crystals types we can dissolve with diet and 🤞🏻 this little guy will be back to himself in no length. ☺️

Now that she’s safely out of the country and can’t kill us for putting her photo up🙈😂 Such a happy but teary time we had last week in the clinic as we wished the most amazing person ever all the best of luck on her travels! The most fantastic member of our vet family we could ever have asked to work with…..pictured here giving one of our inpatients cuddles on her lunch break as that’s just the sort of thing she does!! Here’s hoping her and Dan have the most amazing adventures possible on their travels and enjoy every second of it!!! Safe travels Sarah….. have an absolute ball!! Love all the gang at Slaney Vets! xx

LEPTO ALERT!! Please ensure your pets are fully vaccinated against leptospirosis! VACCINATION IS REQUIRED EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!! as the vaccine only provides cover for one year compared to other vaccines which can last longer! Unfortunately we lost another to this horrible disease today which can also spread to and cause serious and even fatal disease in humans. Please check your dogs’ vaccination status and update their vaccines if necessary!!

Did u know that animals can also undergo reconstructive surgery (also known as plastics in humans)? We were reminded of our superstar patient Bailey today🥰. She had an enormous mass in a very tricky spot for healing due to the constant movement and tensile forces at play in the area. We performed a procedure called skin flap reconstructive surgery after removal of the mass, in order to facilitate full closure and healing of her wound. Step by step you can see her healing progressed well and thankfully she’s back to her beautiful woolly self again😍🥰😍
