The IQHA has evolved into an organisation that provides something for everyone in Ireland with an interest in Western Inspired Horsemanship. The recent branding of its trade name “Western Riding Ireland” invites people with any breed of horse to become involved with IQHA and our educational pathway. The IQHA is proud to be the sole Affiliate in Ireland of The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), and an Affiliate of Horse Sport Ireland. Events and activities run by IQHA are open to all wishing to participate, across disciplines and open to all breeds. Competitor or non competitor. Endurance Ireland will be running a first aid course certified to Cardiac First Responder (CFR) and Emergency First Aid certificate.This course will take place on Sunday 14th of July and will be a full day. The course will be run in Co. Laois(venue TBC) and is a great opportunity to get first aid certified.
Places are limited.
€30 per person(we are lucky to have this subsidised).

We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dawn Forest.
A beautiful, kind and always helpful person who is etched on our souls.
Team Ireland will forever be grateful for all of Dawns help and support in our time at the Youth World Cups.
The worldwide YWC and AQHA community will miss her greatly , her dedication and hard work will forever be remembered and cherished.
Sympathies to Dawns family and friends in this difficult time. 🙏💔

Great to see some events like this for western riders 🤩

WESTERN DRESSAGE on Sunday 21st April in snaffle/English dressage bridle and Western Saddle. Riders to use 2 hands and must wear helmets. Walk Jog Tests can be done in sitting or rising jog.

Great to see Associations working together to further the sport of Western Riding and setting an example for the future 👏👏

Congratulations to all those that took part in the first of many Youth clinics arranged in partnership with AQHA UK. Well done to WES Youth office Dani O'Brien and Tammy Greaves wearing her AQHA UK hat. Tammy is also a WES approved Instructor. Our thanks also to Oakridge Arena for hosting and Lee Rutter (another WES approved instructor) and Lauren Jolly from running the clinic. Finally a thank you to the parents for supporting this and to those who loaned horses! THANK YOU.Tthe future leaders of Western organisations are probably in this picture.

Dear Members.

We would like to announce that Derek O Byrne White has resigned as child protection officer and DLP.

It was brought to the board's attention that his name was unintentionally left on a safeguarding and risk assessment document on our website.

We apologise for any confusion caused and are working with HSI put in place a replacement officer and DLP with the required safeguarding certs.

🚨VENUE CHANGE FOR BOB'S CLINIC🚨 We would like to thank IQHA member Shirley North for providing her stunning indoor arena for Bob's clinic. Northbrook is located just 15 minutes away from Ballinasloe, Co Galway. The venue is close to the M6, meaning it will be ideal for many people to get to. DIY stabling will be available. Jayne was next in the round pen with Amanda. They are working on walk to lope and the correct lope departure. Round pen work will be part of our FREE boot camps. Sunday is booked out but Spectators are welcome for free.
