Apologies to Everyone!!
Brennanstown has been ‘off the air’ since Storm Darragh hit us on Friday – no electricity, no phone line, no internet, so we have been uncontactable.
Power was restored on Sunday at 1.00pm, thank goodness.
Unfortunately, we had quite a lot of damage due to fallen trees etc., but luckily all horses and pets plus our hard working team are fine.
Many thanks to Niall also for his extra input on Saturday afternoon too, removing a lot of fallen branches and debris with the recently acquired Manitou.

Last Sunday saw the final of the Hollybrook Riding Club’s Dressage League (rescheduled as a result of Storm Ashley). Presentations of the Bronze Horses were made to the winners of all the Graded Classes, together with the Brian Bloomer Memorial Trophy and the Iomar Costello Cup to the best placed Hollybrook rider. 🏆

With Halloween now behind us, all thoughts turn to the next festive occasion which is Christmas, now a mere 6 weeks away (hard to believe that we are half way through our Christmas Term)! Our Christmas Programme will be available shortly 🎅

In other news, congratulations to Jessica, one of our instructors on passing her BHS Stage 4 Ride! 🤩🤩

Lots of fun this week at our "spooky" Halloween camp - even Scotty, perched on the pony yard step, wanted to join in! 🎃

Tomorrow sees the final of the Hollybrook Riding Club's Annual Inter Club dressage league, when the recipients of the Bronze Horses (Perpetual Trophies) will be decided for the next 12 months. Best of luck to all the competitors! 🐴
The rider with the highest % over the duration of the league will also be awarded the Brian Bloomer Memorial Trophy. 🏆

Mares and foals (Gordon & Pip) enjoying the last of the autumn evening sunshine before the hour changes this weekend.

Full steam ahead tomorrow for the third leg of the Hollybrook Riding Club Annual Dressage League which was postponed last week due to Storm Ashley, hopefully the weather will be fine tomorrow!

Next week is Halloween and a few places remaining on our "spooky" kids camp! 🎃

Another busy week at Brennanstown hosting the BHS Stage 4 Ride, Lunge & Care exam on Tuesday and the Stage 4 Coaching exam on Wednesday.

Assessors and candidates were greeted by some (un)welcome spectators before the commencement of the cross country phase of the ride exam.😄🦌

The weather wasn't great during the BHS assessments, but luckily our Saturday term riders are enjoying the calm before the storm today. Unfortunately, it looks like Storm Ashley may have a negative impact on the 3rd leg of the Hollybrook dressage league due to be held tomorrow. Fingers crossed it will be able to go ahead.🤞🌧

We are delighted to welcome back our Saturday term riders today after a busy summer (or can well call it summer?! 🌧).

We relied on our newly re-surfaced indoor arena a little more than we had hoped at this stage of the year! Big thanks to Gary from Equestrian Surfaces Ireland for doing a great job during the RDS horse show week.

It is great to see you all again and hopefully you will all enjoy this term and improve your riding skills!🏇

Hi I’m Ella Doddy and my horse is Herald of Milltown. I turned 17 in December (an awful birthday for eventing!)
Herald of Milltown (aka Miller) is a 13 year old Irish sports horse. He loves his jumping and he also loves attention and cuddles. Winning the EI100(Open) Grassroots Championship was very special and I am very grateful to everyone who helped along the way, especially my instructor Louise Bloomer.

We're excited to watch Ella and Herald of Milltown in the future - what a combination!

The AGM of the Hollybrook Riding Club took place on the 27th of May in the lecture room at Brennanstown. After the official business was completed, presentations took place for the Leading Dressage Rider of 2023 (Lisa Devine), and the Brian Bloomer Memorial Cup (Claire Fannin and Collie).

Jane then gave an interesting and often amusing talk on the history of Brennanstown from its early years to the present time. This was very well received by all those present and brought back nostalgic and fond memories for many.

More news ... As to the 2 broodmares, 'Holly' (Hollybrook High Maintenance) produced a c**t foal on the 31st of May, but we are still waiting for 'Squeaky' (Hollybrook Pipsqueak) who is running late.

On Monday the 20th of May, the The British Horse Society Ireland held their Stage 4 Ride & Coach day here which was well attended by instructors from throughout the country aspiring to get this qualification. Mandy Leusley provided an excellent day of coaching, with Susan Spratt helping out, and her husband Craig taking videos. All the attendees went home very happy.

On the same day, the RDAI also had an awards presentation in the coffee bar for the children who rode with us throughout the year and they were presented with their rosettes and certificates. Barbara Pierce presented the Patrick Pierce trophy to
Adam of the Brennanstown Group. This is awarded annually to a rider within the area (6 groups) for the rider who gives the most to the group in their personality, participation, manner, enthusiasm and interest in the ponies, helpers, and riders.

Last week, as seen in some countries around the world, the skies above burst into waves of green and pink as the Northern lights provided us with a celestial spectacle. A few of our ponies, never wanting to be left out, escaped from the pony yard to investigate under the unusual glow of the aurora.
