Severe gingivitis /stomatitis is common in cats of all ages. Many cases cannot be controlled with drugs and , as a last resort, extraction of some or all of the teeth is the only way of controlling the pain

This poor cat is suffering from chronic gingivo-stomatitis (inflammation of the lining of the mouth). When medication fails to bring relief only extracting some or all of the teeth controls this painful condition. It is very common in cats of all ages.

It's time to think about neutering that cat.
Why?
1- there are too many cats in Ireland. Many have no homes, no responsible owners to look after them, and they are left to breed uncontrollably.
2- Animals who have been spayed or neutered are typically less aggressive since their instinct to mate has been eliminated.
3- Many unwanted behaviors such as fighting, roaming, spraying, and crying will go away after surgery, and most pets become even more affectionate to their owners.

Let's make life better for our beautiful Irish cats. If you find a stray or are feeding a feral cat, please get them neutered, too.
