Shoemaker Kennels & Cattery

Shoemaker Kennels & Cattery Liz Houghton Seven of the kennels are large enough to house 2 or 3 dogs from the same family. There are also 4 outdoor, covered kennels.
(28)

We have 30 indoor kennels, all of which are tiled ensuring hygiene and comfort for our guests, plus the added bonus of oil central heating and their own large bed. Cats can now receive VIP treatment thanks to 20 spacious apartments, six of them large enough for a family of two or three cats or cats on a long stay. Each one has a split level so the cats can exercise and sleep away from their litter

tray; they also contain a bed, cushion, scratch post, and toys to help keep them entertained. Bank Holidays 9am - 12 noon

Sorry but I have no choice to do this… I’m still a lot cheaper apparently at this rate!
I will now have to charge €15 per dog per night, cats will be €10 per night!
This will start from Monday 17th June.
Bookings already made will be honoured at the old prices.
For a large family of dogs a discount will apply!
If you can, please pay by cash. The credit card fees and monthly payments aren’t helping with the situation, as well as the rise of everything else!
Thanks for your continued support and hopefully your understanding! Sorry again!
Thanks,
Liz

Hi all, just a gentle reminder!
We work on appointment times and would really appreciate it if you stick to your times. We work around you and wait for you and plan for your kennels to be ready and exercise etc. it also helps if we have appointments of our own. A lot of you know my dad has Alzheimer’s and we have children to juggle as well!
We are here between 9am - 1.30
Between 4pm - 5pm
Where possible!
As I say we try our best to accommodate but it’s not always possible!
Thanks again,
Liz

Is your dog booked in for boarding this summer? 🐶 🌞 🐶
It's important to ensure your dog is up to date with their kennel cough vaccine along with annual boosters. Please allow at least 21 days for kennel cough vaccine to be effective before boarding. Kennel cough is the most common infectious disease it's a highly contagious disease that can affect dogs of all ages
🐾 Harsh dry cough
🐾 Can be picked up anywhere by contact with an infected dog on a walk, food/water bowls, on hands, in air not just in boarding kennels
🐾 Prevention is better than cure
🐾 Check with your vet to see if your dog is up to date

Halloween pet safety

Spooky season is upon us and while most of us enjoy all the scary fun our pets might not.
We’d like to remind everyone to look after their animals, and make sure everyone’s kept calm and comfortable this Halloween. Always remember our pet’s senses are far more finely tuned than our own and all the loud noises, and changes in their environment can be quite scary (and not in a good way!). So to ensure a happy Halloween for everyone, here are our top Halloween pet safety tips:

1. Keep sweets and chocolates out of reach – especially important for dogs who are notoriously known to chow down on copious amounts of sweets (including the wrappers!). Both of which can, at best cause serious gastrointestinal distress, and at worst end in poisoning, bowel obstructions, and a very scary trip to the ER.

2. Show ID and stay away from tricks and treats – its best to keep your pets away from all the action at the front door. Pets are easily spooked and may escape if startled: keep them in a separate room with plenty of spaces to hide and their favourite toys etc. maybe turn on the TV/radio to drown out noises and bangs from outside.
In case your pet does escape and get lost, make sure they have a collar with ID tag on and microchip details are all up to date.

3. Beware of scary costumes – while dressing up your pet can be cute and fun, please be sure your pet is happy and comfortable with this – never force them! Also, never leave your pet unattended in their costume as they can panic, get tangled and injured quickly.

4. Scary decorations - Be aware of wires and cords that can be chewed or tangled. Avoid open flames and candles around your pets and never leave them unattended. Avoid decorations that produce loud, startling noises.

5. Calm skittish spirits – if you know your pet reacts very strongly towards all the novel noises and excitement, you may want to consider using special calming supplements and diffusers in the days leading up to Halloween.

Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween, from all at Crowe’s Veterinary Clinic.

A lot of you know my dad has Alzheimer’s. he has a hobby of painting stones, pebbles and slate. He’s never been artistic!
He likes to take them to the pub and give them
To anyone who’s interested and explains very passionately about how he paints them etc.
I have wondered whether it’s how he’s feeling in his head at the time and trying to express that? I brought these over before and before I took the photo I turned this particular one over and it says ‘sad dry’ does it mean ‘sad boy’? His reading and writing isn’t like it was!
Anyway, I will leave some of these on the counter in the office, if you would like one or two or three 😂 please help yourself (he has lots), if you would like to make a donation toward Alzheimer’s you can but it’s really not necessary, it keeps dad busy!
Thanks in advance x 🐾

I’d just like to clarify that the little dog that escaped and was missing for a few days DIDN’T go missing from here!
I have just shared the post in the hope that someone found her, and luckily she has been found and is back home!
Please make sure that your dogs collar is tight enough that they can’t pull out of it and the same with harnesses! I’ve seen it here when people bring their dogs in.
I always use a slip lead when I take them out, just in case their collars are to loose!
If dogs are in a different environment they can get spooked easily!
