Halloween
There are a lot of dangers around halloween for pets.
Here are a few tips:
*Keep sweets/chocolate/raisins/grapes and barm bracks out of reach from your pet
*Sparklers can cause stress/anxiety and injuries to you pet, be sure they are away from these
*Fireworks/bangers can cause stress/anxiety which cause fear and pets can run away when frightened ensure pets are secure and that any gates/fences are secure if pets are outdoors
*Candles, scented candles can cause allergies/asthma in cats and flames pose a threat to pets sitting near them and catching fire.
*Trick or treat, many pets find the costumes scary, keep them in a room where they won't see the costumes where possible

A feel good story

This little kitten was rescued from a car engine a couple of weeks ago by one of our nurses.
Luckily, he only suffered minor injuries.
A scardy cat when he was rescued, with a bit of t.l.c from our nurses, student nurse and Cash, he is now a loving little fella......And he was lucky enough to have secured a home even as a scardy cat 🐈

HAZEL THE BUZZARD

This beautiful bird of prey is a Buzzard and was brought into us last week by a member of the public, she had been found on the road after being struck by a vehicle.

She had injuries to both her legs, so was tended to in the clinic and given pain medication,fluids and food. Our nurses and student nurse gave her a lot of T.L.C while she was in and named her Hazel.

A rehabilitation rescue was then searched for and she is now currently getting the best of care in Katy's Wildlife Rescues until she is reassessed and a decision made regarding her prognosis

It's SUMMER 🌞🌞🌞
Below are a few tips to care for animals in hot weather.
Cats love the heat and can get sunstroke too, so have damp towels or a cool place in the shade where they can go especially if indoor cats.
Access to fresh cool water for all pets.
Walk dogs early in the morning or late in the evening.
Use a pet safe sunscreen on pets with pink skin/hairloss or fine hair usually around the ears/nose/mouth
Don't play games such as fetch when it is too hot out as pets use more energy when playing and become susceptible to heatstroke
And enjoy the sunshine 🐶🐱🐴🐄
