DAFM are introducing a new Equine Traceability System which will be based on returns from the Equine Census. This year’s Equine Census in Ireland takes place on the night of Saturday the 30th of November 2024.

We have received correspondence regarding this new Equine Traceability System from the Department of Agriculture stating the following:

"To improve equine traceability, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is introducing a new equine traceability system.

The new system will be based on equine census returns; it is therefore critically important that all people keeping equines complete a census."

While Storm Ashley passed relatively gracefully over much of County Clare last week, it reaped havoc at the Burren Animal Rescue Centre in Tubber, destroying a barn and threatening the centres critical supply of winter fodder. The storm ripped through the roof of the large barn, tearing apart concrete block walls and damaging a number of metal pillars. This leave the registered charity in a precarious position, facing a costly rebuild as they also face into the difficult winter season for their animals....

Breaking Update .... Please Share - Edited to add photos

We are going to need help as on a brief check around the rescue it was discovered that our haybarn is destroyed ... 😭 The roof is gone (currently dangerously resting on trees next to the barn) and most of the pillars/walls

65 bales of hay are now exposed to the elements (which we paid out approx €3,250 for)

We rebuilt it in 2016 after a storm took its roof off but now it looks like we've to start from scratch again.

Are you a builder or know a builder that can give us your time in the coming days ... do you or someone you know have building materials that could be donated to us ... Please

(photos will follow when its safe to take some - current photo is from rebuild in 2016)

Look at me in my tux ..... I'm looking for a home to call my own ...

Benson is approx 2-3yrs old and is looking for a new home as his owners had to move away.

His favourite home would be one where he could be the centre of attention as he doesn't have much time for cats not as good looking as himself ;) He is very friendly and has lots of love to give.

Neutered, vaccinated, etc this boy is ready to start a new life with you

H***h is a 2yr old male Dogue de Bordeaux who was abandoned on the road outside the rescue.

He was quite underweight and had poor muscle mass when he arrived but he is putting on weight & condition every day.

H***h is friendly, walks well on the lead and appears to get on with the other dogs at the rescue. His favourite time of the day is dinner time.

He is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered so is ready for a place to call home.

If you would like more information please contact us (no phone calls prior to 6.30pm)

Turner is a 2yr old male rottweiler who was abandoned on the road outside the rescue.

He is very friendly, walks well on the lead and appears to get on with the other dogs at the rescue. He will require some training as he does jump up on you if he gets excited. He loves dinner time and getting treats.

Turner is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered so is ready for a place to call home.

Please Note: As rottweilers are on the restricted breed list in Ireland he will need to wear a muzzle and be on a lead when out walking in public places.

If you would like more information please contact us (no phone calls prior to 6.30pm)

Romeo (4yr old brindle) and Roxie (1.5yr old cream) are French Bulldogs that are looking for new homes through no fault of their own.

They are friendly and enjoy human attention. Each of them could do with a bit more training on a lead and for travelling in cars.

Romeo gets on ok with female dogs but ideally would prefer a home of his own. Roxie is fine with other dogs.

They are microchipped, vaccinated and have been neutered/spayed so are ready for rehoming.

If you would like more information contact us (phone calls only after 6.30pm please)
