Is your pet worried about fireworks? 🐶 🐈 We have a range of calming products available for cats and dogs (both prescription drugs and over the counter products). Please contact us if you need some advice about how to keep your pet safe and happy during the fireworks 🎆 season.

Why Are Dogs Scared of Fireworks?
🐕 Dogs have heightened senses, and the sudden, loud noises of fireworks can be overwhelming.
🐕 They don’t understand the source of the noise, which can make them feel threatened.
🐕 The anxiety can lead to destructive behaviors, running away, or even health issues.

Creating a cosy den for your pet will help them feel safe during fireworks
- Use their crate, or a table and chairs, covered in blankets in a calm area of the house
- Fill the den with their bed, blankets or cushions
- Encourage them to spend time in the den with some super tasty treats.
- Include their favourite toys, chews or a puzzle feeder/lickimat to keep them occupied
- Make sure they have easy access to drinking water

More dogs go missing during fireworks season than any other time of year. It is a legal requirement for dogs to be microchipped and wearing a collar and ID tag when out in public, which must include their owner’s name and address and Eircode. So make sure this is up to date and that your dog is securely tucked up at home.

Did you know Siobhán is now offering acupuncture to our equine clients? Here she is with Comet, a pony suffering from some muscle tightness and soreness. Comet loved his acupuncture and was very relaxed for the entire session!

Conditions in horses that appear to
respond well to acupuncture include:
muscle pain, back pain, arthritis, laminitis
post viral fatigue, allergic respiratory conditions, chronic diarrhoea and non healing wounds.

If you feel like this might benefit your horse or pony please contact the office and Siobhán will happily talk you through what to expect.

Siobhán also performed a blood test on Comet to exclude other conditions that may have been contributing to his symptoms. We can run canine, feline and equine bloods on our in house machine having results in just 15 minutes.

Happy Easter 🐣
Here’s a reminder from Duke to keep all your chocolate safe and away from your dogs this Easter! Chocolate contains theobromine which is very toxic for dogs. If your dog does happen to get into chocolate make sure you call your vet straight away as quick intervention is crucial! 🐰

**Rehomed thanks for all the interest**

This is Mini. She is a 6 year old Jack Russell Terrier who is looking for a new home due to her elderly owner not being able to care for her anymore.
She is spayed, microchipped and in great health. She is a very friendly dog who loves meeting new people and going places. Mini is quite active and enjoys walks, training and playing.
Mini is fairly boisterous when excited so care is needed around small children. She will chase cats and although is fine with dogs on walks, she has never lived with another dog. A secure, fenced in garden/never off leash is needed as she is an escape artist.
